Game 100: Triple digits
ByIt’s always a sad day when we get to game number 100. The season has been halfway over for three weeks now, but this seals it. There are just 62 games left in the season after tonight, and that seems like a small number. I’m not ready for the season to be over. Here’s the lineup…
Derek Jeter, SS
Curtis Granderson, CF
Mark Teixeira, 1B
Robinson Cano, 2B
Nick Swisher, DH
Russell Martin, C
Andruw Jones, RF
Eduardo Nunez, 3B
Brett Gardner, LF
Freddy Garcia, SP
It’s been raining pretty much all day, but not a torrential downpour or anything like that. Just a constant rain. I have no idea if they’ll be able to play tonight, but the tarp is still on the field. Since the Mariners do not come back to town this year, you can bet they’re going to wait this out as long as possible. If the game is played, you can watch it on YES. Enjoy.
Update: First pitch is scheduled for 9pm ET, supposedly.

On HBT they mentioned this.
“Interesting is that Yankees catching prospect Austin Romine is out of Double-A Trenton’s lineup for the second straight night tonight. He’s believed to be healthy, so it could be a sign that he’s involved in some pending deal.”
I’m OK with moving Romine. Between Martin, Montero, Murphy, and Sanchez, I think we can feel pretty comfortable with the organizational depth at catcher.
Romine is by all accounts a very solid prospect, but I think the Yanks can afford to give him up provided they get a good return.
No if I find he has been traded for a LOOGY, I will not be pleased.
Of course, this could be much ado about nothing.
Now Corban Joseph i scratched this is getting intresting.
I’m guessing it has more to do with him tiring last year, so they’re giving him days off when they can to keep him fresh.
But I could be completely wrong. Cashman has a history of keeping his deals quiet until minutes before they’re official.
He hurt his wrist. Getting an MRI.
Or that.
Link?
I hadn’t heard that, everytime a baseball player hurts their wrist it’s always a legit concern.
heard tyler austin was getting a mri on his wrist, there was a tweet about it earlier
Oops. That’s Tyler Austin not Austin Romine with the wrist injury.
Ah okay, I heard about that.
Well now it does become intresting again that Romine and Joseph both aren’t in the lineup.
he hurt his wrist, or “hurt his wrist”
he’s getting an MRI, or “getting an MRI”?
(shifty eyes)
OH SHIT. But I have no qualms with giving up Romine.
Prayers go out to Dave Cameron, great Fangraphs writer, who got diagnosed with leukemia.
I wonder what kind of pitcher the Yanks would have gotten if Romine’s been traded.
Hopefully Kuroda? Probably not Edwin Jackson if that’s the case.
That’s terrible about Dave Cameron. I hope he beats it quickly.
Nice segue. Oof.
Shit.
Stating the obvious, but hopefully it’s in the early and cureable stage.
norris also just tweeted that joseph has been scratched also
kuroda caliber i would guess
Yeah, Norris seems pretty surprised romine ain’t in there today as well. I don’t know about the rest of you but I don’t think I would deal a prospect like Romine for a rental, so a deal for Kuroda or someone of that ilk would kind of dissapoint me.
If I’m giving up Montero/Banuelos/Betances I want a top of the rotation arm and if I’m dealing Romine plus other solid prospects I think I would want NY to at least get a guy that’s at least signed through 2012.
Now I have no idea if NY is doing a trade for anyone I’m just saying those are kind of my feelings on the whole Yankee SP hunt.
I assume that if there is a trade it is probably for LOOGY!
I kid…I hope
I have a bad feeling that we will somehow lose to these pathetic losers. The best scenario is we win today, tomorrow and beat king felix 1-0 in game 3 and he demands a trade.( Hey I can dream)
the Mariners do not come back to town this year, you can bet they’re going to wait this out
Both the Yanks and the Mariners are off on Thursday, so there’s that.
The M’s are home on Friday; I’m not sure what the CBA says about a day off between coast to coast flights.
so whats going on? Romine is outta the lineup and hes healthy?
Looks like it.
Romine and CuJo both out = interesting.
That’s right in Kuroda/Jackson territory, no?
I’d imagine so.
And since there are no rumors of a deal I find a trade happening so much more believable now.
Ha, I’ve taken the same approach to trades. Once the rumors make their way to MLBTR, it usually means the teams talked and then decided against it.
Me too. If I had heard about the Yanks discussing names with some team for like the past three weeks I wouldn’t but it but suspicious ninja moves I do.
BTW, Gary Sanchez isn’t playing tonight as well though many have commented they don’t have Sanchez play as much as other guys because of his age so that’s probaly nothing.
I would make a point that I am pretty sure it is a night game after a day game which seems like a weird day to take completely off.
By themselves that would probably do it, but if there are pitchers involved as well then it will be a much bigger move.
Yeah, if Romine,Joseph and one of our top arms move it would be for a big pitcher I would assume.
I would rather have Jackson than Kuroda, but that is just me. I am okay with trading Romine though. Just hope this deal will benefit us. Can we trust that Kuroda would pitch well in the AL East? At least Jackson has some experience in the AL East.
I also prefer Edwin Jackson. He’s younger and has power stuff. His peripherals are usually very good (or have been good the past 2 years) and has been injury-free over his career. His slider is also one of the nastiest pitches in the league.
I don’t really like giving up Romine for any rental because I don’t think Jackson or Kuroda is like the differnce between winning the WS this year or not. Personally I’m hoping they could pull off a deal with Romine+ for someone like John Danks who’s solid and signed for one more year.
Agreed especially more so considering that CoJo is involved as well. While Romine does not have the upside as the other catchers in the system he seems like he could easily be on an MLB roster for a few years as a starter or back up.
Both Jackson and Kuroda are performing better than Danks.
Yeah but like I said he’s not a rental they are. Also I didn’t really mean to mention any players specifically I kind of just meant to say I’m not a fan of giving up a prospect like Romine for a half a season of someone.
I agree. These are my biggest concerns about this supposed trade. At least Kuroda and Jackson will be type B free agents. Unless the Yankees plan on resigning them they could offer them arbitration.
I would take Danks over Kuroda because of the NL West and Kuroda’s FIP is only .25 lower than Danks.
Kuroda’s xFIP is 3.63 Danks is 3.90
It’s been said that xFIP is the best tool for future evauluation and offers the closest correlation to ERA. And it’s park and league adjusted.
Then again Danks is younger with better stuff. Can’t go wrong with either I just fear Danks’ price is a lot, like Montero, Banuelos a lot.
If Dank’s price was Montero or Banuelos I would pass.
On the whole xFIP thing it could also be argued that pitchers have a greater control over their home run rate than we think. However, there are a ton of ways to analyze pitchers.
Kuroda vs Danks
SIERA: 3.68 vs. 3.94
tERA: 4.13 vs. 4.45
FIP-: 101 vs. 98
xFIP-: 96 vs. 99
Pretty close if you ask me, however I think both would be good #3s for the Yanks for the rest of the year.
I don’t like Jackson at all. I’ll take Kuroda. Granted he’s put his resume together in LA, but I still like him better. Plus he did have this one shiny line in Fenway last year, which I do realize is relatively meaningless . . . 7IP, 9K, 2R, 6H, 1BB.
Even with Romine, CoJo, and Sanchez out of the lineups today it is still a pretty good guess who the Yankees could be in the deal for considering we don’t the pitchers if any are involved.
Exactly a guy like Betances or something completely changes the type of guy the Yanks would get back and unless something is reported none of us know anything about the Yanks minor league pitchers because none of the big ones are being used today anyway.
As long as they don’t trade Montero, Nova, Banuelos I’m content.
They can trade Nova all they’d like.
Nova’s her man.
i thought that was AJ?
threesome?
It’s not gay when it’s a three way
/SNL’d
with a honey in the middle there’s some leeway.
This, Nova IMO is actually on the rise as a trade piece due to his youth and his effectiveness in the AL East. However, I like Noesi more long term as a starter than Nova just because of his superior K/BB rates.
I feel the same way about Nova and Noesi.
Here’s Josn Norris’s quick take.
http://minormatterstrenton.blo.....ineup.html
The chances of there actually being a trade are at best 50/50, but as fans it is more fun to speculate on there being a trade.
True. I love the rumor mill even though most of the time it goes nowhere.
Sanchez is the real smoking gun here. I can’t see the Yankees including Sanchez and Romine in the same package unless it’s for something pretty elite. And if its for something pretty elite, I can’t imagine the other team wouldn’t want one of Betances/Banuelos.
I also wonder if there might be a three teamer in the works, since I would imagine its unusual for a team to take back to two catching prospects in a trade.
Of course, the most logical answer is that the Yanks are in serious but non-imminent trade talks with multiple teams involving all of these players, and they just want to be cautious.
Yeah, It would be real weird to have Snachez and Romine in a deal together so I doubt they are related unless your right and there is a possible three team deal.
Considering both Romine and CoJo are both out along with Sanchez I would assume that there would be a little more than just a little discussion and are closer in the negotiating stage.
Agreed on the point that if the Yankees have two top 5 prospects and a CoJo (a pretty good prospect in his own right) that it would be for a fairly good return.
I disagree on both catchers being in the trade since Sanchez is so young it will take awhile before he reaches the majors and may be playing a different position at that point, but his bat is very projectable. As for Romine he could step as a back up or starting catcher by the end of this year or the start of next year.
And your announcer’s for tonight (if there is a game) are the three usual idiots.
I love O’Neill. Kay isn’t too bad.
Flash sucks and I honestly do not know why he has this job.
Is it straight up rubber room stuff to think the Yanks have any chance of pawning AJ off in a trade and eating some of his salary?
Yeah. You would have to eat almost all of it and you woulnd’t get anything in return.
Why would anyone want AJ and his contract?
Maybe the Pirates if the Yanks ate enough of the contract (Huge maybe and probably note).
Because they enjoy putting the M in S&M?
The Yankees are not trading AJ.
Every Yankees fan needs to get I through his or head: the Yankees are not trading AJ Burnett.
So we all may as well do what I do and recognize the positives.
Omar Minaya isn’t a GM anymore, so no.
wondering, did the headlines read?…
Granderson helps Colon pass A’s
no, but the bottomlines did
The proposed deal is romine, cojo, and manny banny for ubaldo and wiggington. The hold up is the rocks want montero instead of romine
Link please
Linkage?
No way. I’m calling you out on this.
Grab the keys, boys…
Eff that then.
There is no way, don’t post that garbage on here dude.
Number 11: http://riveraveblues.com/about.....uidelines/
I’m not sure if I like this deal.
So why is Scocia a good manager? I mean, why does everyone rave over him? What’s so great about him?
Just curious.
Nothing. Pretty much every MLB manager sucks.
If a manager like Maddon or say Farrell were to use their bullpens more effectively a la during the early 80s they would become the best manager in the league by quite a margin.
Heard it on mlb network
The Ubaldo rumor, you heard on MLB Network?
I am watching it right now and nowhere have they even remotely mentioned Ubaldo and Wigginton.
Good job. I was just questioning him for proof.
And I’m not being sarcastic.
Yeah, man. Had to see for myself…completely false. Mike, ban that clown please.
Why would they even want Wigginton?
If you taped a quarter to his forehead and threw him out of an airplane, the most anyone would say is that you threw a quarter away.
lol, thats awful but funny.
No you didn’t.
But the Angels are exciting, energetic, exuberant and they play the game the RIGHT WAY!.
/MSM’d
Sadface.
http://twitter.com/#!/jnorris4.....3309012992
This deadline fucking sucks.
You trust his agant?
seriously his agent wouldn’t dish on a deal. Also if the Yanks are going back and forth on names Romine might not be a player definetly in the deal just a name being bandied about, so the Yanks sat him out to be safe.
His agent in no way saying that means the Yanks aren’t talking deal right now.
That sounds like a load of crap IMO and interference for more time.
So that means he is not going to the Brewers.
/Zach avoids the Bronx, part 2′d
I’d be shocked if the Brewers traded Greinke. IMO they’re still the favorites to win their division, no reason to start selling. If anything they should be looking to buy and make a serious run in their last season with their core intact (dunno if they have the payroll flexibility to pull that off though.)
Good god I love hope week
Montero still in the game and Adams starting again in High A. I am really excited to see Adams get back to AA to see him mash.
If Montero is playing, he’s definitely not getting dealt. If there was even a thought of him going, they wouldn’t play tonight just to be safe.
Still plenty of time before the deadline for something to happen. I think he’s staying, but him playing tonight doesn’t tell us a whole lot.
I think he meant tonight
yea i was referring to the rumors of Romine and such. Nothing is going to happen with Montero tonight. Tomorrow is a different story.
Montero, ManBan, Romine for Heilman. Make it happy, Cash.
*happen.
They would build statues of Cash for that move.
game starts at 9….
is there a projected start time for this game?
look up…ha
http://yankees.lhblogs.com/
9pm EST
cool thanks, times like these make me love living in Central Time.
Same here. I really enjoy 6 pm more than 7 pm start times.
West coast. 4pm starts. Awesome.
Yeah, if you are college or earlier that is a pretty awesome deal. However, the 10 am starts are equally as bad. Think if it were 2 pm HST where every game was a day game. However, both of these situations were much better than when I was in Spain when games started at 1 am and 2 am for the playoffs.
Personally, the 10am starts are better than the 10pm starts for the west coast games. But that’s just me.
I could definitely see that, but I also enjoy having baseball here till midnight or so.
For me, I’d hate staying up until 1 or 2 am to see the Yankees lose. If they lose and the games are over at like 1 pm, then I forget about them, like the one on Saturday.
Also the recaps are up at 9.
Montero still in the game just as an update.
Also, what is everyone’s opinion on Warren?
The report seems lie he has a good fastball and cutter, but his curve and change are still pretty raw. He seems to have held his own in AAA, but he seems more like a relief guy in the AL East.
Five seasons of the A-Team are on Hulu incase anyone wants to kill an hour.
Dan plesac stated he heard those names mentioned. Its not a stretch as those names have been linked in the past.
This will end badly.
Romine seems more likely to be a solid catcher down the line then Montero. I really don’t like the idea of giving up three quality prospects unless it’s for an ace, not a number 2 or 3 starter.
Jesus montero is on fire!
boooom homerun
Jesus Montero just destroyed a Yunesky Maya pitch. Long gone over the left-center field wall. It’s 5-0.
where are you watching/reading about it live?
watching on MiLB.TV
He’s coming back…
Congrats to Jesus’ 30th career AAA homer.
From Twitter:
keithlaw
Nicely done “@mikeaxisa: Jesus Montero keeps raising his OPS. He’s ruining the narrative.”
I hope its false. Ubaldo has been awful since last years all star break.
Lets start with saying things that have truth behind them.
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/.....qus_thread
Oh man this can be interesting.
A commenter said “Edwin Jackson for Jesus Montero. Straight up.” The next comment was removed.
Off-topic but Montero just absolutely crushed a ball for a HR.
its a game thread. Everything is on topic.
Off-topic but Montero just absolutely crushed the ball for a HR.
Since when was Montero off-topic?
Question: If Colon pitches like this for the rest of the season what kind of contract does he get in the off season? Do you give it to him?
1 yr/7 million?
No, his arm could explode at any moment. Enjoy the ride for this year and let someone else pay him.
Trade him for Tim Reddings.
I doubt any team would give him that much money.
Two words: Incentive laden
But I thought Montero couldn’t pull the ball?
Ridiculous. He can hit an outside fb in the rf seats and can crush inside/over the plate stuff to left. I have seen long homers to left center and ropes off the left field wall at Scranton. In ST this year, he and ARod put on a show and everyone watched balls sail over the lf fence.
I wonder if: Romine, Joseph, Gary Sanchez for Edwin Jackson & Matt Thornton (LHRP)
I think thats way too much to trade away.
Nooooo, Romine, Cojo and Warren for Danks.
Wasn’t Warren pitching though??
Shhh I’m on a roll.
Well hopefully Cashman is on Danks instead of Jackson.
Hey, never know if this could be with the A’s (Gonzalez)…
I like John Danks because he’s a lefty, but I think Jackson is actually the better pitcher in terms of both stuff and numbers. Jackson is only a year and a half older.
Out of curiosity’s sake, what makes you think that the A’s would want to move Gonzalez?
Against any trade of Gary Sanchez
Except for a flat out ace, not Edwin Jackson
So tomorrow will they show durring the pregame what they did today for HOPE Week?
Yes they will. I can’t wait to see what they do for HOPE Week. Makes me even more proud to be a Yankee fan.
good god, ichiro looks lost…
and he’s on my fantasy team… *sigh*
I didn’t know that the Mariners wore those blue uniforms on the road…
Ichiro is looking awful.
Huge strikezone to be fair.
Wow, Ichiro’s fallen off a bigger cliff than Jeter. 315 OBP? Is he done? Or may a change of scenery do him some justice?
He’s at that age were “done” it the likely culprit.
sweaty freddy with 2 Ks already
looked like a junk ball
..and it looks like he’s still goin’ pretty steady.
Gonna laugh when Kim Jones ask Freddy is he “surprised he’s doing this”
“fear the stache”? really? how original
It doesnt have the smoothness of “fear the beard”
Great AB from Granderson.
great at bat by grandyman
Great minds…
ha!
Texy Smash!!!
Damn Tex.
lol wow fucking crushed.
Monster Blast
Teix message!
WOW that was crushed
Tex Message!!
WOW that was a Tex message.
Can we get off this guy’s ass already?
We may need to get on it for Murder.
Holy crap! Second deck in left field at Yankee Stadium is no joke.
Wow
That was on the Mark alright
WHOOOOOOOOOOOO! tex,hitting good righthanded
If Robinson Cano would be more patient at the plate, had a better knowledge of the strike zone, and didn’t get himself out on shitty pitches he would be the best player in baseball. Instead, he’s merely just the best at his position, yet I still bitch. Sigh…
Punishment of excellence right there.
Its laziness.
At the same time, if he wasn’t an aggressive hitter who believed that he could hit any pitch, then he wouldn’t be Robinson Cano.
Hoping that Cano develops great plate discipline is like hoping that Jeter suddenly develops 30 home run power. It’s just not the way he hits. It’s unfortunate, but true.
I was gonna come on and complain about the Yankees not having scored yet, but now I can’t. Stupid Teix.
Soriano just threw a 1-2-3 inning down in AAA.
Baby steps.
I didn’t know soriano could do those anymore
new fifth inning guy
lol i swear he was safe there
LOL umpires are really impressed by Jeter’s jump throws.
jeter rules
Murphy’s law
Ha! Safe!
Dude was safe by a mile.
Seattle doesn’t even care
Nice call, Helen Keller
Umpires trying to improve Jeter’s UZR
Give Derek all the reputation calls, he needs all the help he can get.
Jeter has the umps on the payroll
good job garcia
Huh. I guess that explains how Seattle’s lost 15 straight.
Brooklyn Lager is delicious.
You know what’s a better Brooklyn based beer, bro (5 straight Bs with only one forced!)? Sixpoint’s Bengali Tiger.
Sounds like I need to try that. It got great reviews.
And it comes in cans and everyone who’s anyone knows that cans are the new bottles.
Nice alliteration.
Yankees looking to destroy the Mariners bullpen tonight.
The Mariners broadcast called Nunie a “good glove guy” wtf?
Fair glove, terrifying arm?
Good glove, bad arm.
Bad glove, bad arm, bad footwork.
Good bat.
great arm, inconsistent glove, awful accuracy
It’s the Mariners- they have low expectations.
Lol I’d hate to see their team if they were that low…
Was he being sarcastic?
What the hell kind of outfield positioning was that?
Freddy’s leaving a lot of pitches up.
what a great hope week story today. man, i am tearing up
Yeah, I’m tearing up. What a gift to be reminded that we are all in this together, that our spirit is indominable, and that we can have the courage to hope.
Lol @ Franklin getting on base…
That pitch was up too.
OMG I love the Backstreet Boys..,Those songs bring back memories of my childhood.
LOL, FTLT–that was SO long ago.
The Backstreet Boys are number 1 on my super secret guilty pleasure they-just-make-me-happy playlist.
Aren’t you like 15?
17 So an early part of childhood, but still in my heart.
This is definitely my favorite week of the season. It’s so awesome to see the players go out and support the community. Really touching stories!
Is Kay trying to tell us that Father Time does steroids?
speaking of which, i live in maine so i have to listen to WEEI to get my sports talk
the mid day guys were saying how ellsberry or agon should be the mvp because and i quote “they arnt on steroids like bautista”
To tie in a mini-conversation above, Maine Beer Co. is spectacular.
hey! ichiro got my team an RBI!
bittersweet?
ok, no more, please.
WOOO!!! Inning over!
Dear Russell Martin: thanks for not being Frankie Cervelli.
Its like a fucking death march in the Seattle dugout
Completely missed the leg but was still very out, terrible steal lol
Playing the Mariners is fun
Addison Maruszak is hitting .533 over his last 10 games. I think we might have a breakout candidate here.
Jeter home runs???
apocalypse!!!
/raptured
WHOA JETES!
Jete!
Derek’s back!
Jeterian
JETER. WITH. A. HOMER.
Jeets!
Oh damn, that’s rare
There’s a different type of excitement in Kay’s voice when its Jeter with the long fly ball.
The Yankees have to win this game now.
Jete’s been real good since coming back from injury. EL CAPITAN!
I love seeing a good old fashioned Jeterian swing.
I know he’s never gonna be a .320 hitter again, but I do think that Jete’s been swinging the bat a lot better since he came off the disabled list.
nice jeter
The reports of my demise have been greatly exaggerated.
He’s swinging the bat well lately. Hopefully he can keep it up.
DJ! Hitting .324 since he got back from his injury.
at this rate he may get… 10 HR
Or 6 1/2.
Just missed
JUUUUUUST missed.
I know his HR doesn’t count since he hit it against the Mariners, but digging retro Jeter since his return from the DL.
Wow, Michael Kay.
Fail.
…it was a joke (meaning not counting).
No, I totally got it, this was not meant to be a reply to you at all. My bad.
“So Springsteen gets Fogerty and I get … Fergie? Really?”
Teixeira doing work today.
Giambi with a better glove.
/obligatory
it seems cano hasn’t had the streak where he killed the ball for a length of time, he been good
MARINERS HACKING at the first pitch
fucking caps lock
He’s leaving pitches up. Luckily the M’s arent good offensively.
I’d bet Larry or Joe told him to just attack the zone so he could give them length today and avoid going to Mo or DRob.
Could be, but in Tampa he had that dipping splitter and curveball working.
the Yankees should acquire a big time bat in Montero
Aug 1st
Shut up Kay
So will the Royals be able to win 1 of 3 in boston?
I think it’s a four game series, and of course not.
Come on, it’s HOPE week!
/wishingdoesmakeitso’d
They beat the Yankees in a 4 game series…so I am sure they’ll get swept.
“Now imagine I told you the Yankees also acquired the guy who led the league in saves the year before Soriano? You’d probably say ‘Brian Fuentes? Why did we bother with that? Man, I really hope we didn’t give up anything of value.’”
What?
Just playing off Michael Kay.
ok, now i’m starting to hate michael kay
Time for new catch phrases? This could be a long night
El Duque!
Knowing Martin’s luck, this will be an error.
Bingo
I know Freddy Garcia is the Mariner half of the trivia, but who’s the Yankee? El Duque?
lol Mariners.
I think Davidson missed that one too.
?uest love
Expert umping at first base.
Bob Davidson is a terrible umpire
Murphy’s law part II
The mariners are getting screwed
These umps are making calls like the Mariners don’t matter.
They want Felix on the Yanks so badly
Haha, I think the Mariners just got jobbed again.
That play shouldn’t have even been that close, though. Vargas has to be able to beat Andruw Jones down the line, and Smoak has to take the sure out.
wow we have the umps in out pocket tonight
Nunie!
Nunie!
nunez rbi machine haha
Clutch Nunie
Nunez gets it done!
For a second there, I thought Gutierrez was going to get to that on reputation alone
That’s what I thought.
I know it doesn’t count because it was against the Mariners, but nice little hit by Nunez.
Bob Davidson is one of the worst umpires in MLB. It’s amazing this guy is still allowed to work as an MLB umpire.
Joe West, Angel Hernandez, and CB Bucknor are still employed, so I don’t think theres a chance in hell of Bob Davidson getting fired
The fact that Joe West and Angel Hernandez are on the same crew is a joke. They lead crews in throwing out players by leaps and bounds.
When MLBN ran down the most memorable ejections of all time, guess who led the way.
You guessed it…Frank Stallone!
But it was actually Joe West.
Brett Gardner is good at baseball.
Mariners are so so so so so so so so so so bad…
WTF GARDNER YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO HIT LEFTIES! Now Jones will never play.
DH
I know it doesn’t count because it’s against the Mariners, but nice hit by Gardner.
We’re only up 5-1 in the fourth. Major FAIL on the part of the Yankees.
C’mon Jete, let’s put this game away.
gardner good at baseball
I’m calling a gap double here for Captain.
hahahahahahahah oh lord Mariners….
Bad teams make bad decisions.
Captain clutch.
LOL
/yesiwatchedcurblastnight
FAIL Mariners
Yankees are still losing this series!!!!one!
The M’s strike again
Ima just go to the gym.
When it rains it pours, Seattle. Trade us Felix.
ahhh Mariners…lulz, lulz
LOL Mariners.
16 game losing streak? 16 game losing streak.
18 games. Even with Felix on Wednesday.
wow they cant catch a break
what are the chances the ball hits the bat on the ground?
It hit the bat. Murphy’s Law part III
Is that really an error? Kind of freak bad luck hitting the bat, which sort of becomes part of the field of play.
its an error because jeter would have been out by a mile if he went to 1st
Could be. I think the error, though, was scored on Jeter going to second base. In other words, if the runner had been safe at home (which he would have), then it would have been scored a fielder’s choice, but no error. So he received an error because it hit the bat, which becomes considered part of the field of play once the ball is in motion.
clutch bat placement by the Captain
sooooooo much production from CF, good lord.
Wow Mariners this is laughable
Wow
Tex heating up too. I like it.
Representative game by the Mariners here.
Wow Mike.
https://twitter.com/#!/mikeaxisa/status/95678805041094656
Not a certain out there, but you look like Nostradamus.
Don’t get greedy, get the easy extra runs, burn out the bullpen for the rest of the series, and give Sweaty Freddy a huge lead so he can give the pen a night off.
I’m surprised that 75 is Grandy’s career high in RBIs. You would’ve thought he’d have more than that in his 30 homer season.
Same thought, although he was a lead-off hitter until he came to the Yankees.
Let’s hope the Mariners bad luck continues for two more games, especially when King Felix pitches.
i think the real question here is: can the Rangers score 30 runs on the twins tonight?
Robbie Cano: nope.
Maybe we’ll see Steve Garrison tonight.
I hope so, I’m in the Steve Garrison fan club after he gave me a ball during BP in Tampa
Maybe they’d trade us Felix if we included a fielding coach in the deal. Three-team deal that
Why don’t the M’s just bring up their entire AAA team?
You mean that’s not what we’re watching?
Maybe they’d trade us Felix if we included a fielding coach in the deal. Three-team deal that nets them Larry Bowa, perhaps?
If Bowa’s on the move, we better acquire him to motivate Robby Cano’s lazy ass
Haha I love having Paul O’Neill in the booth.
He’s the greatest for entertainment purposes. One-eyed Lucy, lol.
Nunez with the Accurate canon!!!!!!
cannon.
CGSO for The Chief?
They did score one run.
Bets on the day the Yankees make their first trade?
My gut says tomorrow. 7/26
I’m going to put my money on either tomorrow or Wednesday. I just hope Cash pulls a ninja move and pry’s an ace like Ubaldo, etc. Hopefully Cash will get someone good for the right price and not gut the farm.
Idk about a starting pitcher tomorrow, but something might happen. I’m more concerned about the value of the trade.
My bad, meant to clarify that in general, I hope we get someone good for the right price, but I agree no stating pitcher tomorrow, I’d say maybe Wednesday we may hear serious talk for a starter, maybe though.
Wow. The Yankees just issued a press release that the Seattle Mariners will be featured tomorrow as part of HOPE Week.
hahahahahaha this is an underrated comment
Tomorrow is a My9 game? You know what that means…
what an LOL game for seattle
Seriously, watching this is making me kind of sad.
They might as well trade everyone aside from Felix, Pineda, Smoak and Ackley and start from scratch–everyone on this roster has clearly given up.
What’s sad is that they were actually contending in the beginning of July.
If you take out those guys, then what would other teams trade for?
I think that there would definitely be a market for League or Fister.
And I’m sure that some team would pay up for Ichiro based on his reputation alone.
Don’t be sad. There not as bad as they’re playing, and we do NOT want them to start playing better until they leave town.
If they win tomorrow and then the Yankees have to face King Felix on Wednesday, no one will be feeling sorry for them.
Hensley “Bam-Bam” Meulens reference. Where’s TSJC?
Garcia has been a pleasant surprise this season, but I still think the Yankees need to go out and get a pitcher at the deadline.
What will cc do to this lineup tomorrow??
The M’s have officialy surrendered.
The Mariners offense is nonexistent. Freddy’s on a complete game pace.
Reason #682 that I’m glad I don’t have kids:
There’s a zero percent chance that I’ll have to see the Smurfs
An incredibly hot and unobtainable chick who you have a major crush on asks you to go see the movie because she always liked the Smufs. What are yo going to do?
Or are you saying that still falls in the zero percent range?
…and I have to add that while the name “Smufs” is a typo, I now want to create obscene cartoon characters names the Smufs.
The fact that she wants to see the Smurfs with me suggests that she is either a) incredibly stupid or b) completely nutso
But fine, I’ll upgrade it to a 1% chance.
no triple? Brett sucks
People actually voted 52% in favor of Ichiro getting 3,000 hits? Not at this pace and at his age.
Sounds like the Cowbell Man’s here tonight.
Thats Bald Vinny.
In 10.5 MLB seasons, Ichiro has 323 UIBB.
Nunez!
This isn’t just CG pace, this is 11-innings pace.
Who said Nunez couldn’t field?
The Mariners offense is more useless than Magikarp
tomorrow might be the best chance this season for CC to pitch a perfect game
Awww, the Mariners scored a run. That’s so cute.
There goes the complete game possibility
only at 84 pitches. He could still finish CG around 105 against this lineup.
Whys that? His pitch count is still low and he has a 7 run lead. Time to bring in DRob?
It looked like he was starting to tire that inning. But you’re probably right.
Come on Joe let Freddy pitch a CG or bring in Garrison.
Also 20 runs for Texas.
The Twins have been almost as terrible as the Mariners this year.
And the sad thing is the Twins are only 7 games out. The AL central is so bad.
I LOVE that Garcia is pissed about giving up a run when he has a 7 run lead in the 7th inning.
Never let up, not even for an inch. Screw “pitching to the score”
Andruw Jones probably smiled though.
Boo. I just got home and my cable is out.
Oh Nick
LMAO Swisher. “Oh Shit!”
Goddamn, can a freaking trade happen already!?!
He’s starting to tire
Yeah. He just needs to get out of this inning and then Steve Garrison for the 9th.
wow the angles are actually closer to the wild card than the rays right now
Melky ties it up!
O’Neill proposed on the phone. He called collect. Classic.
Ayala still alive?
That was a hanger. Good move to get Garcia out.
Another pretty good start from Garcia. The 2003 all star team has performed pretty well for Brian Cashman this year.
great game by garcia
Dear God, that’s Boone Logan’s music!
Andruw Jones’ music is the Ray’s broadcast. Probably because he always wanted to be a Ray.
just saw Big Poopie trying to steal 2b…now that is funny.
Nunie should steal third.
Michael Cuddyer pitched an inning for the Twinkies. SCORELESS.
epic
if the game right now the +14 run differential game is better than 18 of 32 teams
awww yeah Jeter
Jeter triple? This game has been chock full of lulz.
and a homerun.
You just can’t predict it, Suzyn…
Old Man Jeter looking more and more like the old Jeter. Keep it up!
jeter got his ops over .700
Aww Paulie is so sweet.
Girardi doesn’t trust Garrison in a 10-3 game against the MAriners. Makes perfect sense to me!
Who cares?
Sorry about that. But he’s in now.
Oh, he does.
STEVE GARRISON!!!!
Where’s Mr. Hat???
no homo but garrisons a good looking dude
my Steve Garrison ball must be worth ~$500,000 now.
Huzzah!
Remember how crazy this place was going during the Yankees 6 game losing streak earlier this season? Being a Mariners fan must suck donkey balls right now.
Maybe the Yankees won’t lose this series after all. Though they still probably will!!!!one!
Youk may be hurt or else the Sox think Yamaico Navarro is a better #4 hitter.
It looked like he pulled up short trying to beat out a groundball in his last at bat. Probably a hammy issue.
