Nunez leaves game with right hand contusion
By5:08pm: X-rays were negative, the team announced. Just a bruise and Nunez will get a few days off.
2:47pm: Eduardo Nunez left this afternoon’s game with a right hand contusion after getting hit by a pitch in the fifth inning. He was lifted for pinch-runner Ramiro Pena right away. He is going to go for precautionary x-rays. Sounds like it’s just a bruise, but we’ll let you know if it’s anything more serious.

Is Ramiro Pena the immediate backup to Eduardo Nunez? That would be a less-than-ideal bench piece. Pena is even more useless than Cervelli.

Hope this doesn’t affect his fielding.
It’s his right hand. If it affects his throwing, we may never be able to tell.
The news of negative x-rays is certainly better than the news of Bill Hall going north with the team. While Nunez has his drawbacks, I still think he’s a better reserve than Hall.
