Update: Nunez & Banuelos placed on Triple-A disabled list

6:56pm: Via Mike Vander Woude, it’s a sore left elbow for Banuelos. Yuck.

6:00pm: Via Chad Jennings and Donnie Collins, infielder Eduardo Nunez and left-hander Manny Banuelos have both been placed on the 7-day DL in Triple-A. Nunez hurt his thumb a few days ago but it’s unclear what’s up with Banuelos. Perhaps the lat issue that shelved him a few weeks ago popped back up. Both guys could technically return this weekend, but we’ll see.

  1. Jesse says:

Fingers crossed with both of these guys.

  2. RetroRob says:

Wonder if it’s Manny’s back again. Hope not. Back issues can linger…forever.

  3. Reggie C. says:

Didn’t think health would be the factor that knocks the shine off Banny’s prospect star. Damn. The org just has to allow Banuelos time to fully recover so that he’ll be ready to go a full workload by mid season. Banuelos can still get a significant workload and be ready to contend for a rotation spot next season.

What’s another couple weeks honestly. He’s the most advanced prospect the team has to offer in an unlikely trading deadline ninja maneuver. Best to get him healthy now.

  4. Cuso says:

Is that how one would spell that? I don’t know. It feels like nothing is about baseball anymore…

  5. Manny's BanWagon says:

The Yankees should wrap Mason Williams in bubble wrap. The baseball gods are obviously pissed at them for something.

  6. vin says:

I wish Manny was right handed. Hopefully the left elbow soreness dies a quick death.

  7. mwash1983 says:

Sore elbow for Banuelos, might as well get him and Campos and redo their elbows. Yankees Top pitching prospect after this year might be Brian Mitchell. I honestly think the Yankees should fire Nardi Contreras as the Yankees struggle to develop arms.

    • vin says:

Maybe they can give Manny’s right elbow to Campos, and Campos’ left elbow to Manny?

Just trying to find the next big market inefficiency. Actually, I think an infamous Nazi beat me to it. Nevermind.

    • pat says:

the Yankees struggle to develop arms.

Besides all those guys from the Yankees system that are currently pitching in the majors for an assortment of teams, the Yankees struggle to develop pitching.

  8. DT says:

    Seattle knew something!

  9. Will says:

Why god why. This is what happens when you let Jesus leave. APOCOLYPSE.

  10. pat says:

    This fucking sucks.

  11. Rod says:

Oh well, ManBan will only be 23 in 2014.

  12. RetroRob says:

The Banuelos update reminds me of Campos. Any update on him? He went on the seven-day DL on/around May 4th, which is three weeks this Thursday. I don’t want them to rush him back, but I haven’t heard any updates on time table, or additional concerns about severity.

I would imagine Banuelos is going to be out several weeks also.

  13. Monterowasdinero says:

Let’s just place half the 40 man on the 6 month DL.

  14. Gonzo says:

What was the great year for the system? 2009 or 2010? I need to remember something good.

  15. dalelama says:

The Curse of Montero strikes again….

  16. craig says:

They put him on the 7 day DL, so perhaps he just needs to skip a start.
