Another day, another one run loss. It’s the pitching, the offense, the managing, we’re in trouble come October when all you play is one run games. Cashman is going to need to clear out the farm system tomorrow to get everything we need- a starter, bullpen help, a big bat, a catcher, a fill in 3rd baseman. We need at least a couple of these things to hold off the charge from the Os and Red Sox.

George Kottarras was available. he’s been hitting much better, and walking at a great rate this season.
He would have made a fine platoon option with Martin. Martin would still be on the team though.
Kottaras is Piazza compared to the Martin/Stewart duo from hell.
What did Oakland give up for Kottaras?
Reliever Fautino De Los Santos, who absolutely sucked!! A’s got the better end of this deal!!
The high walk rate is true, however, Kotteras is hitting under .170 since late April with 4 RBI and an ISO of .042 since late April.

Why does everyone around here get so snotty when a commenter complains about a loss? The team is playing like garbage these days, and they’re losing ground in the division. That’s a pretty important thing to be upset about.
It makes them feel cool.
Because most of them are the same people that are nowhere to be found when the team is doing well.
Cause we are all upset, but sometimes the panic brings up inane comments, like the Red Sox charge. We are still 6.5 games up not 6.5 behind.
After 2004 I will never write the Red Sox off. 7 games can go away pretty quick, and they scare me.
They are in 10th place in the AL. If that team’s name was anyone else except Boston, we would be OK. I just want the Yanks to get back to playing winning baseball. The past few days, they did just enough to lose. Let Boston get to 10 games over .500 then I will worry.
I don’t care about the rest of the AL, I just care about the division. The Yanks have a lot of interdivision games coming up, and they’d better start playing with some purpose.
Personally, I could give a fuck about 2004. This Yanks team has much better pitching than that one did. I’m more worried about the Rays and Orioles than the Sox.

Absolutely. There are just as many trolls that show up when we lose as fair weather fans that show up only when we’re winning, probably more.
In my experience on the internet, it’s equal that there are many people nowhere to be found during the losing, only the winning.
It’s a two-way street. And when this team is playing like shit (and 3-8 is shit), people have the right to air out their displeasure.
I mean, for fuck’s sake, this is the internet. For most of us, our fellow commentators are nothing more than anonymous handles whom we will never meet in real life, so why the hell should anyone care what anyone thinks of them? I think people in general care way too much about pseudo internet interpretations and conceptions.

Positives:
-We still have a huge lead
-Our lead is still really big
-No, seriously, we’re still probably going to win the division. We have a good team here.
Negatives:
-OH FOR FUCK’S SAKE MORE INJURIES!?!?!?!?!?!
-3 wins in 11 games. Whoop-dee-fucking-doo
-Our offense has been anemic lately.
-Our bullpen hasn’t been sterling either
-In more detail about the offense-the fact that we’re one dimensional is really showing now. When we don’t hit home runs, we basically don’t score. There needs to be SOME sort of way that we score besides the home run.
-Overall we’ve just been playing like shit
Both Sides of the Coin: We’re still probably going to win the division, and we’re going to be getting a lot of these guys back, presumably, in time for the playoffs.
But right now we’re playing like shit, and if we don’t snap out of it relatively soon there WILL be real cause for concern, even though I don’t think we should be REALLY worried yet.
It’s completely fair at this point to start pointing out that the team should start playing better though.
