Game 112: “Canada, eh? Almost made it.”

Girardi will not be suspended for Thursday's tirade
A-Rod took 25-30 swings today

The Yankees haven’t won a three-game series in Toronto since May 2009, back when Marco Scutaro and Alex Rios were still Blue Jays. Injuries have complete decimated the Jays this season, especially the pitching staff. Staff ace Ricky Romero will be on the mound tonight but has seen his performance suffer in a major way, to the point where the front office is probably hoping he’s hiding a minor injury so they at least have some kind of explanation. If there was ever a time for the Bombers to take two of three from the Jays in Canada, this is it. Here’s the starting nine…

SS Derek Jeter
RF Nick Swisher
DH Mark Teixeira
2B Robinson Cano
LF Andruw Jones
3B Jayson Nix
Russell Martin
CF Ichiro Suzuki
1B Casey McGehee

RHP Freddy Garcia

Tonight’s game is scheduled to start a little after 7pm ET and can be seen on YES. Enjoy.

“For the french fries and gravy, sir.”

    “Poutin.”

    Awesome title, Mike.

  • Brian S.

I think I actually like the Blue Jays somewhat.

  • Steve D Fl

    awesome!! lmao

  • Thaaaaaaaayankeeswin

    No Grandy?

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

It scares the crap out of me that our 6-7 are Nix and Martin…

  • Brian S.

Does Girardi not know of Romero’s reverse platoon split?

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

SHH!!!! Platoon is the only thing that matters! It doesn’t matter that he’s a change-up guy!

  • Gonzo

Anyone else see that the Yankees can spend 700k on undrafted players?

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Not exactly related to this game, but the more I think about it, the more I hate that there is no check for umpires. The perfect example is Jim Joyce in Armando Gallagraga’s perfect game. He blew the call, he came out and said he blew the call, on not exactly a bang-bang play and he faced zero repercussions for it. I don’t know about you, but if I messed up at my job to that level, I would be in serious trouble.

    • RI$P FTW

      Join a union.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I was in a union when I worked at Shoprite. I saw multiple people get go for the smallest things.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

          let go*

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

The Umpire Union is just way to strong.

    • jjyank

If I messed up half that bad, I’d be fired.

  • Will The Thrill

Weak AB by Jeter. I would’ve taken the next two pitches after Romero got 3-0. For a lead off guy Jeter sure does a horrible job of taking pitches and letting the rest of the hitters see what the pitcher is throwing.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Weak AB because he swung at a hittable pitch 3-1?

    • chilango

No way. Let him swing. Even 3 – 0.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

So is anybody going to be here, or is everybody watching the Giant game?

    • RetroRob

Anyone watching a preseason football game is not a baseball fan. Names should be taken, fines given, a token execution given to make the point.

      • jjyank

        +1

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Haha…I mean if I was at home, just because it was the first live football since the Superbowl I’d probably watch the first series on offense and defense.

        • RetroRob

          I’ll allow peaking. : -)

          • RetroRob

            *peeking*

Ha. Scanning back and saw this and noticed someone used the wrong form and then realized it was me!

      • vicki

take my name. it means john and suzyn with the tv muted.

        • RetroRob

You get a pass! Multitasking also okay. It’s the total abandonment of baseball for a preseason football game.

  • Thaaaaaaaayankeeswin

    Jete

  • RetroRob

Looking at that goofy hair on Rasmus, I wonder what the starting nine would be for a team with the worst hair — head and face — would look like?

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

The starting pitcher would have to be Derek Holland’s stache circa 2010 playoffs.

      • RetroRob

Perhaps Valverde the closer. Luke Scott the DH.

        • Get Phelps Up

          Youkilis as the 3B.

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

            Prince at 1B?

            • jjyank

              Lincecum is in that rotation.

              • jjyank

                Along with Jeff Samardzija.

              • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Nah, this is worst facial hair. Dude rocks the long hair like a stoner in a prog-rock band.

                • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

                  worst hair* not just facial.

                  • RetroRob

On the top of the head or the face.

                • jjyank

I dunno, it looks pretty bad to me. Then again, I just don’t like long hair on guys in any circumstance.

                  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Meh, I feel like some guys (Timmy included) can rock long hair. It’s a lot like a mustache though, it’s a very small percentage of people who do rock it that actually can.

              • RetroRob

Must be something in the air in San Francisco.

      • jjyank

Ha I was gonna say the same thing.

Gah who was that pitcher that had the weird design shaved into his beard?

Brian Wilson will be the closer for this team, for sure.

        • RetroRob

Yeah, Wilson actually does beat out Valverde. He’s also a better reliever. I suppose we can make Valverde the set-up man.

          • Get Phelps Up

Axford should be the setup man.

            And Werth as an OF.

    • Bunt Gardner

Don’t forget this one from Bobby Jenks

      http://cdn.bleacherreport.net/.....1338902655

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

        You win.

        • Bunt Gardner

          Yay!

    • RetroRob

I would have had Darnell McDonald and Jose Reyes on the short list, but they cut their hair. I don’t like dreads.

  • Brian S.

    Don’t walk Escobar…

  • Mike N

I sure hope the bullpen is ready to work tonight.

  • Brian S.

    Quit trying to hit Robbie!

  • DERP

Salvador Perez is doing some great work.

    • Brian S.

Do you hate Baltimore more than Boston?

      • DERP

        I kind of do.

        • Brian S.

          Woah

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    Damnit Robbie TAKE THE WALK!

  • RetroRob

Robbie, you don’t just have decide to swing before the pitch leaves the hand.

  • Mike N

    Nice AB, Cano!

  • Brian S.

Mathis looks like he is having fun out there.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Bahaha, the first pitch to Druw was basically right down the middle according to Gameday.

  • Brian S.

    MATHIS!!!

  • Mike N

Yeah!! Let’s give Freddy some runs!!!!!!!!

    • RI$P FTW

      I’ve got the runs!

  • Arya

Finally a defensive miscue in our favor. Great bunt.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Great result, terrible process. It should’ve been two on via the walk. and you bunt first pitch to give away an out?

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

With a guy who is 5-7 of the pitcher lifetime?

      • chilango

you’re right but the binder says bunt…

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

          All hail The Binder!!!

  • Mike Stanley

JASON NIX’S BUNT TURNED THE SEASON AROUND!

    /no?

    • Will The Thrill

      LOL

  • Get Phelps Up

I hope Mike Scioscia saw that.

  • chilango

We get a break early. About time. Keep the line moving..

  • Will The Thrill

Heh. Mathis. Is it me or does it seem like teams just don’t make errors anymore when they play the Yankees like they used to? Yay luck!

  • Brian S.

I kind of feel bad for Romero.

    • Will The Thrill

      I don’t. If he was a Yankee I would.

    • jjyank

So do I. I always liked him, thought he was very underrated. I had on my fantasy team for 2010 and 2011. But very glad I didn’t draft him this year.

  • Mike N

    MOAR RUNS!!!!!!!!!!!

  • RetroRob

All Ichiro career stats are meaningless. They’re almost all from when was good.

Fortunately he’s still tough to double up.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Yep, one thing he hasn’t lost is his legs, also I think he should be stealing here.

  • DERP

    Machado sucks.

  • Karl Krawfid

Home pitcher getting booed when he throws over.

    That is pretty bad.

  • Will The Thrill

What is that guy in the stands yelling? Anyone else hear that?

    • RetroRob

He was yelling at Casey Mccccgeeeeheeeee (nope, won’t learn how to spell it), saying was heading back to the minors. Odd guy to pick on.

Perhaps someone from the McGee clan upset with how his name is spelled.

      • Kramerica Industries

        Sounds like Carton to me.

  • jjyank
    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Bahaha, great picture. What’s even happening though?

      • jjyank

Haha I’m guessing just a really crazy shot of a ridiculous attempt to avoid the slide on a DP.

  • Mike N

    C’mon, McGhee!!!!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    Steal Ichiro!!

  • Brian S.

    Dammit Casey…

  • DERP

Omar Quintinilla is such a bitch

    • Brian S.

He was annoying as fuck on the Mets.

  • Will The Thrill

Please don’t let Romero settle down. It’s only the 2nd inning and Sweaty Freddy is pitching.

    • sangreal

I don’t disagree, but I don’t get why these posts come up when Freddy is pitching and not Nova (whom Freddy has been pitching better than since returning from the BP)

  • Mike N

    fug

  • Mike N

    Grr.

  • Brian S.

    That was a shot

  • Brian S.

    Game thread is dead.

    • jjyank

Combo of Friday night and Giants pre-season game, I’d wager.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I agree…also, it’s early, and the team winning.

        • jjyank

RIght, the trolls haven’t arrived yet.

      • Brian S.

Well it’s the afternoon where I’m at.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

          Westcoaster?

          • Brian S.

            Indeed.

            • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

California, or Washington? Cause I was talking to my friend who lived in Seattle for a couple years, for some reason she thinks I would fit the vibe there perfectly.

              • Brian S.

                I live in Northern California.

                • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I hear it’s beautiful there…I really need to get out to the West Coast.

                  • Brian S.

Some parts are. Like everywhere there are nice places and not so nice places.

                    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Of course, but I’m talking more weather wise than anything. From what I understand you guys barely get what the rest of the country knows as “winter.” Maybe you in NorCal get it more than SoCal, but still it doesn’t get brick cold with feet of snow in October (Like it did last year in the NNJ area)

    • sangreal

      The NFL will do that

    • VT Yankee Fan

If Toronto scores a couple it will get busy in here.

  • DERP

    Stupid fucking asshole Moustakas

  • Mike N

    Hahahahah.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Hahaha Romero is probably livid, huh?

    • jjyank

They showed his reaction, he was seriously pissed.

  • Mike N

    NICE!!!!!!!

  • Rooting for U.S. Steel

First game of a series. Pitcher chased by the… what do you think? End of the fourth?

    I like.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

He still has an out to get here in the third.

      • Rooting for U.S. Steel

May it come as the result of a 16-pitch at bat…

        to Martin.

        • Rooting for U.S. Steel

Eh, that should have read “to Cano”. Moment passed.

  • jjyank

So maybe the shift isn’t so great.

  • bobtaco

Force the throw, make things happen.

  • jjyank

It’s entertaining to watch the other team’s defensive problems.

  • Will The Thrill

Romero needs to calm the fuck down. His body language probably isn’t making his teammates and coaches too happy.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

If he was a Yankee i’d agree with you, but since he’s our current opponent, I want him to be as rattled as possible.

    • chilango

Fuck Romero Freddy needs to give us a shut down inning

  • Brian S.

    Jones strikes out too much.

  • Will The Thrill

Romero’s reverse split is so evident in this game. Righties having a hard time with those breaking pitches in. Girardi needs to stop being so old school.

    • jjyank

Girardi Every manager needs to stop being so old school.

      Such is life.

      • Brian S.

Joe Maddon would stack his lineup with lefties.

        • jjyank

One guy does not make the other 29 “old school”.

      • RetroRob

Yeah, it can’t be “old school” when it’s still practiced by almost all managers today.

  • Will The Thrill

Argh. Meredith’s voice is so whiny. Like nails on a chalkboard!

    • Mike N

Her voice sounds fine to me.

  • Mike N

    Excellent report by Meredith!

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Did she show her boobies? if not, then I don’t know how it could be excellent, her voice makes puppies commit suicide.

      • jjyank

Her shirt did seem to accentuate them nicely.

      • Mike N

Her voice sounds perfectly fine to me.

        • Mike N

Anyway, it was a good report on A-Rod’s progress.

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

            hmm..do share any details.

            • Mike N

He is taking ABs with his hands in some different position and with a special thing on his wrist and is making good progress.

              • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

hmm…I don’t like that he’s moving his hands around. Alex seems the type to need his swing perfect to be productive.

                • Mike N

It might not have been real ABs, but just swinging the bat. I think it’s more like physical therapy than real baseball swings.

  • DERP

We could have had Yankee fan Jenny Dell instead of MM.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I’d include Banuelos in the deal.

      • jjyank

Seriously. She is all sorts of smokin’.

    • Wil Nieves Number 1 Fan

Meredith is really cute, but holy schnikes, Jenny Dell is gorg.

  • Will The Thrill

Jays has a lot of outfielders, big leaguers and prospects alike. I wonder what their plan is for guys like Gose and Marisnick.

    • Brian S.

Marisnick won’t be ready until late next season or the beginning of 2014 right? He’s in AA? Gose LF, Rasmus CF, Bautista RF.

  • Colby Rasmus

I hit a baseball so I look like a slob. I don’t change my underwear or shower.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    Nice…a shut down inning!

    • Mike N

Srsly. I was concerned that Freddy was just burning through pitches and was gonna be gone in five innings, even with a lead, but he seems to have settled in.

  • DERP

Always nice to leave their best hitter on deck.

  • DERP

So bbref has Romero’s nickname as RR Cool Jay. Worst nickname ever.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Nah, Pablo Sandoval has the two worst nicknames, Fat Ichiro, and Round Mound of Pound.

      • Kramerica Industries

And then he has a supremely-awesome Kung Fu Panda name.

        • Brian S.

          This is awkward…

      • Brian S.

I thought he was Kung Fu Panda. Which is also terrible.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

according to BRef he’s all 3.

      • jjyank

I thought he was Kung Fu Panda?

    • Tom

Was the Yunel bunt single a good one, or did he just take Nix by surprise?

  • chilango

    Nice shut down inning.

  • Kramerica Industries

    So, I’ve concluded that either:

    1) Michael Kay hates Canada, in which case I hate that big-headed bastard.

    OR

    2) Michael Kay doesn’t have a valid passport and is too cheap to get it validated.

Trivia question answers – Blue Jays (duh), Tigers, Marlins.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

It’s actually 3. He doesn’t do road games that aren’t in Boston or Tampa.

    • jjyank

He probably has to pay extra on international flights because he has to check his giant head in as a second piece of luggage.

    • Get Phelps Up

      Dbacks instead of Tigers.

      • Kramerica Industries

Well, it’s not the Dbacks either, they’ve only won once, but holy shit, I forgot Detroit lost in ’06.

Totally forgot the Pirates were 3-0 overall.

      • Get Phelps Up

        SMH I missed the “multiple”

  • BJ

    “Littering aaand… littering aaand…”

    • jjyank

      Smokin’ the reefer.

Now as punishment, Rabit and I are gonna sit here and watch you smoke the whole bag!

  • Will The Thrill

No way Swisher gets a huge deal with the year he’s had, right?

    • jjyank

No, not a huge deal. But that could be a good thing, depending on who his replacement options are.

      • Will The Thrill

I’d take him on a Wllingham-esque deal 3 years/$25MM but anything more and I say the Yanks should let him walk. His ISO and walks have gone down while his strikeout rate is up. Yet he’s still better than most RFs out there.

        • jjyank

I’m in the Justin Upton camp, but outside of that I can’t really think of anyone else who would be an upgrade. I’d love Swish back on a Willingham-esque deal.

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I want either Upton or Swish.

            • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

by that I mean Justin, BJ, or Swish.

              • jjyank

I’m down for that. I think BJ was so overrated at first that when he didn’t appear to meet those expectations, he actually became underrated.

Get me an Upton, or bring back Swish.

    • Brian S.

Not a huge deal. And not with the Yankees.

    • chilango

Nop. Although he’s .255/.359 WRSP and .295/.404 WRSP/2outs. I thought he was a lot worse.

  • Karl Krawfid

    Boston, Marlins, Toronto.

    • Tom Q

      Pirates; Boston lost ’67/’75/’86

      • Karl Krawfid

        Ah shit good work.

        • Tom Q

It probably helped me that I was actually around for all of them (though young in 1960). Advancing age for once pays off.

      • Brian S.

Why couldn’t they lose 04 and 07? The fucking Cardinals and Rockies didn’t even put up a fight.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I’m not saying it was a modern day Black Sox scandal…but I am saying it was.

  • Paul VuvuZuvella

Delayed tonight. What did I miss?

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Romero has been all over the place, just about as many balls as strikes, and before this inning Freddy’s been pretty good.

      • Paul VuvuZuvella

Any Cinnamon Raisin Bagel sightings? ;)

        • jjyank

God damn it Paul. I was just saying earlier today that I haven’t had a good bagel since I moved to DC, and now you reminded me :(

          • Paul VuvuZuvella

Haha. I’m headed to Jersey tomorrow for 3 days. {DSO concert and Craft Beer Festival in Mercer Cty Park tomorrow!! woo hoo!} Hope to find some good bagels in Jersey!!!

            • jjyank

You will. I miss good bagels. And pizza. And Chinese food. DC needs to step up its game!

              • Paul VuvuZuvella

Chicago too. They bake this thing that looks like a Caserole and they call it Pizza. Dumbasses. :)

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I had one just the other day, and it was delicious. Also JJ, don’t be too sad, there is no such thing as a good bagel outside of Northern New Jersey.

          • jjyank

Ugh, so I’m discovering. I have the week after Labor Day off, planning on splitting it between visiting family in Jersey and friends in Boston. While I’m in Jersey, I think I’m going to buy a lifetime supply of bagels and keep them in my thoroughly oversized freezer.

          • Paul VuvuZuvella

Ahem, damn good bagels on Long Island and in NYC too.

  • Brian S.

    Stop it Freddy!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    Damnit Freddy!!!

    HERE COME THE TROLLS!!

  • DERP

    The Royals fucking suck.

  • Brian S.

Enough of this shit. Put in Phelps.

  • Mike N

    Fucking Freddy.

  • chilango

Fuckin Sweaty Freddy not even good for 5.

  • Kramerica Industries

    This inning is going swell.

  • vicki

mike, your friend kelly johnson’s getting on my nerves.

  • chilango

Hope Joe doesn’t leave him in to long. Get Phelps up

    • jjyank

Get Phelps Up? Someone is calling for you.

    • Get Phelps Up

      *Up

      /had to

  • Brian S.

Are you seriously going to walk Omar Vizquel…?

  • Will The Thrill

I’m legitimately disappointed that we only scored 3 runs off Romero. Also why is Garcia in the rotation still? Phelps is wasting away…

    • chilango

Right, we should have 6 or 7 off him by now. They’re probably saving Phelps for the stretch.

    • jjyank

Meh, Freddy’s been fine since he got put back in the rotation. There’s not much evidence that Phelps would be much better.

  • DERP

    I fucking hate Manny Machado.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

      I thought he sucked earlier?

      • DERP

He does. He is going to be a huge bust. Same with Bundy.

    • Will The Thrill

Get used to saying that for the next 7 years or so…

  • Mike N

    C’mon, Freddy! One more out!

  • Kramerica Industries

That was a painful swing from Vizquel.

  • your mom

Thank god for the offensively inept Vizquel.

  • Mike N

    Yeah!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Good job working out of that with limited damage oh Sweaty One.

  • RetroRob

    More runs.

  • Tom

Good to see Mathis’ Yankee killing ability hasn’t traveled with him to Toronto.

Was the Yunel bunt a good one or did it just take the Yankees by surprise?

  • chilango

Romero’s settled down and Freddy’s unsettling. ARGH

    • The Real Greg

You call giving up a run for a 5 starter unsettling?

  • your mom

We really made Romero work in that inning.

  • Will The Thrill

This is going to be one of those games where we didn’t take advantage of a struggling pitcher early and then let him settle down and lose isn’t it?

    • DERP

Why are you so negative? Can’t you just enjoy the game.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

That’s illegitimately hard for some people.

        • jjyank

Still. Even Greg gets excited sometimes.

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Greg has changed. He now has this weird overly-positive out look on everything. I don’t get it at all…

            • jjyank

I’d like to think that is our influence :D

But in reality, he probably just got laid or something.

      • Mike N

        Managing expectations?

      • Will The Thrill

Sorry. I’m just an extreme pessimist. I don’t mean to be a drag but sometimes I can’t help it.

  • Mike N

Please have an easy inning, Freddy.

  • Mike N

Freddy’s pitches look like they have no “pop”, like they’re just lobs or something.

    • Mike N

      Whatever!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Oh god Ma and Pa and Mark are talking about Phelps to the pen in a permenant way. Same argument people used for Joba, the stuff plays up, the adrenaline and all that stuff.

    • Brian S.

      He’s getting Noesi’d.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

He’s going to be included in a trade for a young stud (hopefully bat instead of arm this time) this off season? Sign me up.

        • jjyank

          Justin Upton?

          *dreams*

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

It sucks that we don’t have a legit top 5 in baseball prospect to help get a Justin Upton type like we did in Montero.

            • jjyank

True. Montero in particular might have been a tougher sell to a team that can’t use the DH though.

              • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I was just using Montero as an example as a top 5 prospect type guy, but yeah I could see why getting him to NL team for a legit player would have been tough. I just wish Banuelos had been totally healthy the past two years and improved as we hoped…he could either be starting w/ the big club come September or used in a trade for a Justin Upton or CarGo(total pipe dream)

                • jjyank

Yeah, Banuelos’ injury sucked for several reasons. I know he’s still very young, especially for AAA, so his stock probably didn’t take that much of a hit. But it probably took enough of a hit to not be the headliner of a trade package. Oh well.

        • Paul VuvuZuvella

I think the Yanks will try to keep Phelps and trade Nova.

          • jjyank

If Nova keeps this up, they’d be selling low on Nova. I dunno what they’d do, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they traded Phelps while his value was relatively high.

            • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Even with Nova’s recent struggles, he’d still have to profile as at least a mid rotation guy in the NL West. (Yeah talking about for Upton)

              • jjyank

I’d definitely include Nova for Upton.

    • Paul VuvuZuvella

      sigh

    • jjyank

Quick, someone call in with a question about ordering pizza online!

  • Brian S.

Woah. 3.95 ERA since returning? Damn I look dumb.

    • jjyank

Freddy? His reputation from April has been preceding him a bit too much around here, especially with regards to Phelps.

      • RetroRob

Some people want the #5 to pitch like a top-of-the-rotation guy.

Freddy is fine for his role. Be nice if the Yankees would score a few more runs when he pitches, including in this game.

  • Mike N

Rasmus looks like he just walked off the set of the Partridge Family.

  • DERP

    Nix does something good here.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

He is a baseball player after all.

  • Brian S.

Nix will hit a home run.

  • Nice Scheister

If you would have told me at the start of the season Jayson Nix would be hitting ahead of Ichrio and Martin I’d have laughed in your face, histarically.

  • Mike N

They’re saying that A-Rod also threw a football today.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Makes sense, when I sprained my wrist they had me grip and throw a football as part as PT. It’s bigger so it’s easier to grip and gets your wrist used to putting pressure on things.

      • Mike N

        Cool. That’s what I figured.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Trust me, not cool. The first few times it feels like spraining your wrist for ten minutes at a time…ugh did that suck.

  • Tom

5IP, 2ER from the #5 starter? Granted he isn’t facing the toughest of lineups with the injuries, but I’ll take that every time.

I’m not a huge Freddy Garcia fan, but I don’t understand all the Phelps should be starting talk – while I’d like the kid to get a shot at some point, it’s not like Freddy is pitching poorly as a 5th starter.

7 starts since the beginning of July and he’s given up more than 3ER one time. ONE time.

    • Mike N

      +1.

      • Get Phelps Up

        +2

        • Mike N

          This is awesome, Freddy!

    • jjyank

You pretty much summed up my opinion here as well. In a vacuum, I would love to see Phelps get a shot. But Freddy has been perfectly serviceable, and I doubt Nova would get the boot for Phelps (at least at this point in time). If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

  • DERP

    Shit Jayson, get it together!

  • Nice Scheister

Martin and McGeehe have similar batting stances and at mannerisms at the plate. Just an observation.

    • RetroRob

Kenny just thinks all white guys look alike.

Although MagHehey (whatevs) is as white as a man can be.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Sigh…this went from it looked like Romero would be out by the end of the 4th to there’s a chance he gets through the 7th. Don’t get me wrong, I’m happy we’re still winning, but wtf happened?

    • chilango

We have only two guys who hit for avg.

      • jjyank

Actually, wouldn’t working the count and taking walks be better for raising the pitch count?

  • Brian S.

    Luke Hochevar=bust

  • Arya

Freddy’s done the job once again. It’s time to look at sending Nova down to AAA and letting Phelps take that role. Freddy has been keeping us in ballgames, Nova couldn’t keep us in a game where he was spotted a 7 run lead. If Nova struggles again this series send him down immediately.

    • chilango

Four pitch inning for Sweaty Freddy. Shut my mouth.

  • RetroRob

    FaceBook is evil.

  • chilango

    Bring in Phelps!

  • Brian S.

    BOOOOOO FOX Business Network.

  • Nice Scheister

Straighten the brim of your hat Ricky. That’s bush league!

  • Brian S.

    Freddy might go 7

  • DERP

Machado is just setting up the Orioles for disappointment in the future.

  • your mom

    4 pitch inning, nice.

  • RetroRob

Really. That’s as sweaty as I’ve seen Sweaty, and he threw four pitches.

    I repeat. More runs.

  • Get Phelps Up

    This game is flying by.

  • Kramerica Industries

    Four pitch inning.

    Well, thanks Jays.

  • DERP

The Orioles broadcast said the same guy caught both of Machado’s home runs.

    • Brian S.

Remember when Montero hit his first two home runs off of Jim Johnson?

      /cries

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

/puts on the Cure pandora and starts writing poems

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Why do you hate the Orioles so much? Even if Machado is legit and becomes a great 3rd baseman/Short stop they’re still 4 position players and a closer, the rest of the team is held together with duck tape and wishes.

      • DERP

I hate Orioles fans so much. I hope they never see a winner in their lives.

      • jjyank

Pretty much. They pretty much NEED Bundy to work out if they have a prayer in the near future.

    • RetroRob

I would not give back either of those HR balls to Machado.

  • Mike N

Freddy’s checking out RAB between innings!

  • Kramerica Industries

Not that I expected Cole de Vries to do anything tonight, considering he sucks, but still…

7 runs in 1 IP against the putrid Rays offense. Well done.

  • chilango

    Big inning let’s go…

  • Tom

    3 of the last 5 AB’s have been 1 pitch outs…

  • DERP

I wanted to start Machado in Fangraphs: The Game today but he wasn’t an option. I went with Nix instead. ugh

  • Mike N

Is there any way to find out what the historical MLB average is for runs ultimately scored from bases loaded and no outs?

    • chilango

      2.25

      • Mike N

Thanks! How did you find this?

  • Kramerica Industries

You know what this game is missing?

    A 6-3 putout.

  • Brian S.

Someone hit an insurance home run already

  • RetroRob

Well, based on the two last half innings, this game should be over in six minutes.

  • Tom

Ugh…. I know Johnson has hit Garcia well, but he’s under 80 pitches.

    • jjyank

I feel ya, that sucks. But If Girardi leaves Garcia in, and Johnson hits another homer, half the people here would be calling for Girardi’s head on a spike.

      • CUYanks

This is definitely true. I kinda like the “squeak-a-quality-start-out-of-Garcia-with-a-lead-then-get-out-of-dodge” strategy.

        • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

I agree, anytime you get a quality start from Freddy, unless he’s only thrown like 65-70 pitches you count your blessings and go to the pen.

          • CUYanks

Yeah. If there’s a deficit or a big lead, then I might leave him in, but if it’s a tie/close lead then why not cash out your chips when you’re ahead.

            • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

If it’s tied, I see could see Joe letting him start the 7th to maybe try to get him the win, cause as much as they shouldn’t pitchers and managers think about it, with a short leash.

  • Mike N

Interesting move to put in Logan.

    • jjyank

One run game, a guy with Johnson’s power up? I’m cool with it.

      • chilango

Freddy went 6/ 80 pitches. I’m cool with it too.

        • Mike N

          It worked out well!

  • Mike N

It must have been fun to be one of Swisher’s classmates in sixth grade.

    • vicki

probably a lot like being friends with him now.

      you know still plays transformers.

  • RetroRob

I think they removed Freddy because they were concerned he might be having a coronary event based on his sweat factor last inning.

    • Mike N

      He needed IV fluid replenishment.

  • DERP

So who do we go to after Logan?

    • chilango

      Joba.

    • jjyank

      Joba or D-Rob, I’d imagine.

  • Mike N

    Joba!

  • Arya

Boone for 2/3, Jobber for 1/3, Phelps for 2/3, Rapada for 1/3, Robertson for the close.

    • RetroRob

      Soriano unavailable?

    • Mike N

      Soriano’s not available today?

      • Arya

I’m just guessing. He has thrown 2 straight days and yesterday for 4 outs. He might be available, I don’t know.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

He threw an inning and a third yesterday, allowed two baserunners in the process and had to have thrown at least 35 pitches. I doubt he’s available.

        • Mike N

          Yeah, probably so.

          • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

hmm…according to the Bullpen Workload page he actually only threw 14, but two consecutive days so I guess they could go to him, but only if they NEED to.

            • CUYanks

You guys might be right, but it almost seems that Girardi’s comfort in removing Garcia with such a low pitch count might suggest Soriano is available.

            • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike Axisa

Yeah, they were the longest 14 pitches ever. Only threw 12 in the ninth.

              • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

It felt like so much longer.

  • your mom

    Obligatory Mathis double coming up?

  • Brian S.

Joba has been batting practice since he has come back. Not sure I like bringing him in.

    • jjyank

I’m a little nervous too, but I think “batting practice” is overstating things.

  • chilango

Joba better step up here. He sucked in his last 3 appearances

  • Brian S.

Thank you for not murdering Cano there Ichiro.

  • Mike N

    YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!

    • Mike N

That was an important out for a number of reasons.

  • DERP

    Batting practice IMO!

  • jjyank

Well at least the velocity concerns from his first outing should be gone.

    • RetroRob

Yeah, three straight appearances all 95+. Throwing harder than he has in a few years.

Command still off, but I’d rather have high velocity and weak command than the other way around. The command will return.

      • jjyank

Right, command is typically the primary issue for guys recovering from TJS. That doesn’t worry me.

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    • jjyank

I have already come out and said that Teixeira has won me over this year. But he was the second least clutch player in all of baseball the last two years and was the dictionary definition of a stat padder 2010-2011, which is what originally caused the hate.

  • chilango

    • chilango

He’s .250/.370 WRSP and .125/.250 WRSP/2 outs this year. Not too great.

      • RetroRob

        Cherry pick away.

  • Tom

Tex really needs to consider dropping a bunt down the 3rd base line when leading off an inning late in the game

…..or hit it over the fence

  • Mike N

It looked like Cano said something to the first baseman there, and it didn’t look friendly. ???

  • Mike N

D-Rob is warming up now for the bottom of the 8th. So that must imply Soriano for the 9th, right?

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Wow…Sterling called a catch. Please someone tell me what happened?

    • Get Phelps Up

Johnson reached up to catch a soft liner and he missed it and it hit him in the head…pretty funny.

    • Brian S.

It hit him right in the face and bounced to the left fielder. He whiffed on the catch.

      • Brian S.

He was going back on the play too. Like running to centerfield. Easy play though.

    • RetroRob

Ummm, an infielder decided to play soccer and used his head to driect the ball to left field.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

fuuuuuuuuu sounds like I missed a very amusing play.

Ichiro is clutch. Now we won’t need Soriano.

    • your mom

      I hope you’re right.

  • Need Pitching & Hitting

    Nice slide.

  • Nathan

    3 RBIs…oh and one hit!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Ichy!!! I have to go to the bus now…this has been such a nice thread though :(

    • jjyank

It has. Awesome perk to the Yankees winning :P

    • Brian S.

Has there been some cool conversation that I have been missing?

      • jjyank

Any thread that is lacking in troll presence (read: Yankees winning) is a good thread.

  • Get Phelps Up

    Wow….nice slide by Martin there.

  • vicki

casey mcgehee: bats ninth; eats clean-up.

  • Tom

    Oh hellz yeah!

Joba = 8, Robertson = 9 (unless Joba gets in trouble in the 8th)

    • DERP

I’d rather not use Robertson if we can avoid it.

      • jjyank

Yeah, 4 run lead now. Let’s let Joba go again and piece the rest together. Unless the lead gets shorter, of course.

        • Tom

Probably right, might Rapada/Eppley it if it stays at 4 runs.

  • The Real Greg

Say what you want to about Ichiro, but 9 RBIs in two weeks is not bad.

    • Get Phelps Up

      stuart a agrees.

      • jjyank

But his slugging % sucks. Ichiro is just a punch and judy hitter!

        • Brian S.

          Ike Davis >

          • Get Phelps Up

            Dammit. Beat me to it.

        • Get Phelps Up

And he had less RBIs than Ike Davis.

  • Betty Lizard

    Russell!!!!!

    :-)

    • jjyank

I don’t even want to know where the potential jokes could go.

    • RetroRob

Is that a request for Russell, Betty?

      • Betty Lizard

        Hee . . . Couldn’t resist that one. . .

  • CUYanks

Joe Mauer must feel like an Island on the Twins.

  • chilango

Hope we don’t have to use Robbie or Sori. Let’s go Joba.

  • Brian S.

    Granderson in for defense lol

  • DERP

So the guy who caught Machado’s HR balls is a 15 year old who lives in the UAE

    • jjyank

      That’s awesome.

  • CUYanks

I endorse Joe Girardi’s management of this game.

  • Mike N

This move makes sense. That was a decent ground ball for Joba, and don’t let him get in all kinds of trouble after pitching well.

  • Tom

So if Granderson came in for McGehee…. why didn’t he have Granderson hit for him?

Can’t stand when Girardi does that.

    • The Real Greg

They were facing a lefty. McGehee has great numbers against lefties.

      • Need Pitching & Hitting

        ?

      • Tom

        Delabar’s a righty last I checked….

        • The Real Greg

          Oops. My bad.

  • jjyank

Wow real short hook for Joba. I thought he’d be allowed another batter.

    • Mike N

I liked the move. Take him out after getting one out and a good ground ball.

      • jjyank

I’m not opposed to it. I probably would have left him in to see if he can limit the inning to one base runner, but it worked out and it’s not a big enough deal for me to care.

  • CUYanks

    Now Gose understands stat padding.

  • Kramerica Industries

Gose is playing kinda reckless right now, but that’s probably because DRob isn’t holding him on.

  • RetroRob

I guess that’s okay. I have Gose active on my fantasy teams for steals.

  • jjyank

Jeez that Gose kid is fast.

  • Brian S.

    What the fuck Robertson.

    • CUYanks

He wants Soriano to opt out, of course.

  • DERP

    Brutal David

  • Need Pitching & Hitting

Let’s not make this too interesting, mmmK.

  • Kramerica Industries

    Come on.

    No more nonsense.

  • chilango

Now fucking Robbie throws over wtf

  • http://fendersonandhampton.com Cuso

4 run lead and he throws a breaking ball on 3-2 pitch.

    what?

  • TomH

Not so sharp lately, since the dl stint, certainly not like last year. And still the walk-itis tendencies. Really not (yet) closer material.

    • chilango

      Exactly.

    • RetroRob

      D-Rob?

That’s exactly what he did last year. Houdini.

That inning was way too efficient for him.

    • Get Phelps Up

Outside of that crazy lucky inning for the Tigers the other day, he’s only allowed 4 ER in 22 IP since coming off the DL.

      • jjyank

But…but..narratives are so much more fun!

  • Kramerica Industries

    Yeah, that works.

  • Mike N

    Excellent! DP!

  • Brian S.

Swisher wasn’t even on the bag lol

    • jjyank

If he wasn’t, but was literally by the width of a hair. Replay isn’t even conclusive.

      • jjyank

        *If he wasn’t *it* was

  • Kramerica Industries

    Swish wasn’t on the bag.

    That’s a break.

  • The Real Greg

    We’ll take that exchange

  • Mike N

From the YES-MO, it appears that his toe was on the bag.

  • your mom

Oh look a curveball. I thought DRob had scrapped that pitch.

  • CUYanks

In other news, it looks like the demise of Doc Halladay might have been slightly exaggerated.

    • Get Phelps Up

      My fantasy team appreciates that.

      • jjyank

Ugh I wish the demise of Dan Haren took that route.

    • RetroRob

He’s had a few issues this year. If it continued into next season, then I’d start to believe the demise has started. One season is not enough for someone at his level. Even if he has lost velocity, I’d still wait and see if I might reinvent himself to compensate, similar to Moose his last year.

      • CUYanks

Yeah, if anyone can adjust, it’s Doc.

  • Mike N

    AWSEOM!!!!!!!!!!

  • Kramerica Industries

Laptop thief throws a complete game.

Wow, how the Tribe have fallen.

    • your mom

He’s been pitching well of late after a horrendous start. He and Nova are going oppo directions.

      • your mom

But too bad the Sox are going nowhere.

      • MartinRanger

I’ve always viewed him and Hughes as a rival twosome. Big righties and former 1st rounders out of high school. Nova gets Doubront – international signing not expected to be much but has had surprising success at the major league level.

    • Widget

      Fuck both teams really.

  • CUYanks

Jeter just cost us $12.5 MM next year. Not a team player. If only we had a Chad Qualls type to bring in to start the 9th to pick Jeter up.

  • DERP

Another four times on base today for Slade.

  • xnyles

Cone is by far YES best color commentator.

    • jjyank

      Yup.

  • karel capek

Imagining Cone reading Fifty Shades of Grey is almost as funny as imagining Micheal Kay reading The Story of O.

    • MartinRanger

I actually face-palmed when he mentioned it. And then told my confused father ‘you really don’t want to know.’

  • jjyank

Haha wow the Jays knew Robbie would have the green light.

  • Mike N

Nix took that SO pretty hard.

    • MartinRanger

I really really like Nix. He’s a passable shortstop, he’s got some pop, and he can hit lefties. I really hope they keep him around. Nunez has a bit of a higher offensive ceiling but he’s also a catastrophe in the field.

  • CUYanks

Pop quiz: without looking, guess Ken Singleton’s age.

    • Mike N

      53

      • Mike N

Holy shit. I wasn’t even close.

        • CUYanks

          My thoughts exactly.

    • Get Phelps Up

      64

      • Get Phelps Up

        Pretty close.

    • sangreal

wow, I was thinking low 50s at most

  • Get Phelps Up

Prediction: Jeff Mathis will pitch for the Jays this series.

  • Mike N

Way to stick your arm right out there and block that pitch, Russell!!

    • jjyank

Haha yeah, he definitely leaned into that a bit.

      • Betty Lizard

LOL at that. Russell is a MAN!

        • Mike N

A man with a huge hard-shell protector on his arm that he stuck out to take the pitch.

          • Betty Lizard

Now, now. The protector’s on his elbow. The ball hit his upper arm. :-)

  • your mom

Time for an Ichi ban slam!

  • Betty Lizard

    They hit Russell! Those bastards.

    • jjyank

      Kill them all, Betty.

    • The Troll

      Get those nailbreakers!!!

  • Mike N

    YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jjyank

This game has been very entertaining.

  • Arya

The Ichiro pick up was the best trade Cashman has ever made.

    • jjyank

I wouldn’t go that far. I like the trade though.

What is his best trade? Swisher?

      • CUYanks

        Not trading for Ubaldo.

        • jjyank

          Heh true that.

  • RetroRob

An hour and a few minutes ago we were in the 7th inning.

  • your mom

Damn shift. That woulda been 2 more RBIs.

  • Tom

Where’s Chad Qualls when you need him?

    • your mom

Chad Qualls would make this game interesting again.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Then we could go to Soriano for a cheap save. 2 Goals this season:

        1. Win the World Series
        2. Jack Soriano’s save total so far up that it would be fiscally irresponsible for him to not opt-out.

  • RetroRob

w?@keithlaw TMI. “@sarahmcox: I’m vaguely terrified that David Cone has read 50 Shade of Grey.”

  • CUYanks

Yeah, do we have a junk reliever?

    • your mom

      Apparently it’s Rapada tonight.

      • CUYanks

Kinda shows how Phelps is moving up in the pecking order.

    • RetroRob

      Swisher?

    • MartinRanger

I mean, Phelps is sort of a jack-of-all-trades.

  • Mike N

    I really like Rapada.

    • Mike N

Way to immediately balk and make me look like a fucking idiot.

      • CUYanks

        Balks are cool.

      • Mike N

And then allow a base hit.

      • RetroRob

He was doing his job of playing the part of the junk reliever!

    • your mom

Joe doesn’t. WTF with the pitching change???

  • Need Pitching & Hitting

    Yikes Raul

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    LOLrd VoLOLdemort.

    • jjyank

Hey, you’re home. And the Yankees scored runs while you were on the bus.

      Theory = proved.

      • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

Yeah, but Joba/Robertson had some trouble in the 8th

btw, is it Jobay or Chamby or Chamberlainy?

        • jjyank

Probably Joby, if I had to guess.

        • vicki

justin came pre-nicknamed. if you’ve already been tagged by your toddler little sister you’re exempt from joe’s, er, endearments.

  • MartinRanger

Wow Ibanez has looked unbelievably bad the last two games.

Before the season if you had told me the Yankees regular LF would have been Raul Ibanez I might have cried.

  • Need Pitching & Hitting

Is it really necessary to match up for Jeff Mathis with a 7 run lead and 2 outs in the ninth inning?

    • MartinRanger

It would hurt Cody’s feelings to be left out.

  • Mike N

Ibanez really is inept in the field.

    • MartinRanger

I was really hoping they could burn Voldemort’s glove after Ichiro arrived. But Andruw’s gone in the tank.

  • DERP

    Jenny Dell ?@JennyDellNESN
Bobby Valentine said Will Middlebrooks headed for X-rays (right wrist). Said he was hit “straight on bone and in a lot of pain.” #RedSox

    • Tom

Well at least they kept Youkilis who has filled in admirably for Ortiz at DH, and at first the couple of days AGon went down and the bunch of game Middlebrooks missed earlier.

Oh wait they didn’t want a bench player and decide to pay him to go away to keep Bobby V happy.

  • DERP

Good thing Chavez isn’t in the field. Eppley can pitch with no fear now.

  • Tom

While I’m sure Girardi will have some pitch count justification (so Rapada is available tomorrow), this move is just ridiculous.

    • Mike N

Bringing in a righty made absolutely perfect sense with two outs.

      • Tom

Up 7 runs? With 2 out? I assume this is sarcasm?

Are you really suggesting you need the platoon advantage against Jeff Mathis with a 7 run lead (and a lefty on deck)

  • RetroRob

Cashman angry they blew the save opp for Soriano. Heads will roll.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

nah, the rest of the bull pen will just suck to get the ball to him again.

      • RetroRob

I was beginning to wonder if they were trying to rebuild the save for him.

  • Mike N

For fuck’s sake. Please end this now.

    • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

You’re forgetting the penultimate goal this season: Get Soriano as many saves as possible.

  • Mike N

    YESSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://thecarsboneblog.tumblr.com Raul Ibanez AKA Tom Marvolo Riddle

    #untuck?

  • your mom

Good win. Keep the streak going tomorrow.

  • jjyank

Wait…why is Eppley’s shirt still tucked in?

    I’m confused.

    • Strat

Bad boxer shorts.. Didn’t know he be there. It’s understandable.

  • jjyank

Good game and good thread, boys (and Betty).

    Go Yanks!

    • Get Phelps Up

Game threads are always more fun during wins like these.

  • Mike N

    Adios, fellow Yankee fans!
