Yankees activate Austin Romine off DL, option him to Triple-A

Just a procedural note, but the Yankees have activated catcher Austin Romine off the 60-day DL and optioned him to Triple-A Empire State according to Donnie Collins. His 30-day rehab window had expired after missing the first half of the season with a back problem. The 40-man roster is now full, but the Yankees still have eight players on the 60-day DL.

If they need another roster spot they probably drop pena or laird from 40 man. Even if another team picks them up it’s no loss.

  2. scooter10 says:

Even after the activation of Romine, looks like the roster is at 39. Either way, you figure Feliciano and Pettitte will be activated sometime in mid-September. Pena is already off the 40 man roster so someone else will need to come off.
