Teixeira resumes running in Tampa

By

Mark Teixeira has yet to participate in any Instructional League games down in Tampa, but the first baseman has resumed running as he works his way back from his left calf strain. Teixeira has been taking batting practice and fielding drills for about a week now, but he’s only been able to ease back into the running. Joe Girardi said the team hopes to get him into a simulated game soon. There’s only a week left in the regular season, so we’re starting to approach crunch time as far as getting him back in advance of a potential postseason series.

The Yankees will need one or 2 of Tex or Arod to produce once in the postseason. I wish it could be Cano.. Swisher may be the wildcard here.

      Yes two A-Rod’s!

  • Robinson Tilapia

HE SHOULD PLAY THROUGH HIS TOE INJURY LIKE DEREK JETER DID.

    • Joe F

I see what you did there.

      • Robinson Tilapia

        You’re catching on quick there.

  • Chilango

Hope he practices laying off the change while he’s down there.

It’s okay guys I’ll take care of Tex while he’s down here in Tampa

The way Tex performs in the post season this injury could be a blessing in disguise.

      Hi Eeyore!

yeah… and someone go strain Swishers calf while we’re at it!

  • Joe F

We need him to play a series before he plays in the post-season. At least I hope that’s the plan.

  • The Moral Majority is Neither

Is there any hope for ARod or is he going to be brittle and powerless for the rest of his deal? He and Teixeira could be twin anchors on this franchise. Please don’t give Cano a 6+ year mega-deal.

    • Robinson Tilapia

Alex Rodriguez either is, or is close to, 37 years old. What do you think the most likely trajectory is there?

We don’t know who the anchors on this team five/six years from now are.

      • The Moral Majority is Neither

I think we do. That’s why I’m sad and wary.

What a puss Arod is, do you think Jeter would have played, please. Can’t shake the O’s but days keep coming off the calender, better off 2 up in the loss column with 7 to go then 2 down I guess. Really need players who have been a little quiet in the playoffs to get hot this year. Praying for production from Tex Arod Swish and Cano. CC Pettitte and Kuroda are a solid 1/2/3.

    • dalelama

Do we know whether to play yesterday was Arod’s decision to make? Given his putrid production during the stretch drive to clinch the division maybe Girardi decided to bench him.

      • Robinson Tilapia

        That’s about 30% of a good reply.

Tex needs to be availible to AT LEAST pinch hit against Boston next week. and only in the later innings…. and only against Padilla.

that would be awesome. 3-3 on the series, all pinch hits, all against that prick Padilla.
