Adams & Romine open AzFL season with doubles

By

A few winter ball assignments have trickled in: IF Walt Ibarra, UTIL Ronnie Mustelier, and OF Jose Figueroa will all play in Mexico while IF Ali Castillo, UTIL Jose Pirela, and LHP Vidal Nuno will play in Venezuela. OF Zoilo Almonte is already confirmed for the Dominican Republic as well. Leagues in Mexico, Venezuela, and the Dominican Republic open this weekend while Opening Day in Puerto Rico is still a month away. These aren’t the only winter ball assignments, there will be plenty more.

AzFL Scottsdale (4-3 loss to Phoenix) season started on Wednesday
3B David Adams: 1-3, 1 2B, 1 BB — still playing the hot corner I see
DH Slade Heathcott: 0-3, 1 BB, 1 K
Austin Romine: 1-3, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, 1 K — hoping he has a huge few weeks out here
RHP Dellin Betances: 1.2 IP, 1 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 1 K, 1 WP, 3/0 GB/FB — only 13 of 28 pitches were strikes (46%) … this was his first outing since late-August due to shoulder tendinitis, and Keith Law says he was 89-93 with two pitches to the backstop … I wouldn’t read much into him coming out of the bullpen, lots of pitchers for only so many innings out here and they have to be flexible

Wish we would’ve traded the Killer Bs for Felix when we had the chance. Hindsight is a bitch.

oh you mean that time that never happened? yea me too

still wish we pulled the trigger on that resurrection plan for babe ruth

    • Bo Knows says:

Never happened, Mariners have never offered Felix (and will probably never offer him) in a deal. Also, no one (and I mean no one, even if the person was batshit insane) would ever say no to making a deal for Felix Hernandez if the Mariners came calling, especially if it was when he was still cheap.

Maybe Arod can help Adams down in Florida this off season.

Do they view Adams as the long term 3B? Seems wierd especially with cano being a free agent next season. The Yankees certainly want to keep cano, but the Dodgers do have room at 2nd/3rd for him and you gotta question if the yankees will go to 200/8. Maybe it is just so they can get him up to the majors and start getting at bats.

i think the disintegration of alex and granderson has all but assured that canovwill be handed a blank contract with a post it note attached that reads: “dear scott and robbie, dont hurt us too bad because we need to have other players too. hope you are both having a happy holidays, humbly and lovingly yours, brian, hal and the whole gang! xoxoxoxoxo hugs and kisses silly¡¡¡ :)”
thats pretty much a guarantee. just imagine this team without cano…..shudder….

It was the Cliff lee deal with the Mariners that the Killer B’s were asked for and Cash said they were not on the table. The king was never offered.

yeah. HUGE FREAKIN DIFFERENCE. vears of a reasonable cintract 26 year old ace? heres our list of players pick whoever you want. 2 months of 32 year old ace about to receive a massive contract? no you cannot have all three of our best pitching prospects plus a useful future mahor league infielder. hernandez was never available despite repeated pleading from cashman. cashman has not been hesitant to trade top prospects. mojteri, jackson were the teams two best in years and hoth were traded. kennedy was traded. vizcaino was traded. cashman is not a hugger. and his no deals have all been good no trades. aside from MAYBE the unconfirmed haren rumors his no trades for santanna and lee have worked out just fine.
