Update: ALDS Game Three will begin at 7:37pm ET

By

Tuesday: The Giants beat the Reds in extra innings tonight, so the Yankees and Orioles will play Game Three at 7:37pm ET on Wednesday.

Monday: Earlier this afternoon, MLB announced that Game Three of the ALDS will begin at 7:37pm ET on Wednesday unless both the Reds-Giants and Tigers-Athletics series end on Tuesday. If they do, Yankees-Orioles will be pushed back to 8:37pm ET. Gotta fill those prime time hours, I guess.

Don’t make a ton of sense with 8:37 time. You gotta think that most of the viewers for this series are on the East coast, with the 2 teams involved. 8:37 time doesn’t really work best with them.

Got to get the 12 people in LA to watch first pitch at home vs listening to it in the car on the way home from work.

Total BS. Screw the west coast. How can you start a game at almost 8:40 at night in that time zone?

7:37 isn’t bad. I’ll be able to go to school the next day. 8:37 means I’m probably taking a day off.

      Puuuuussy, they said collectively.

You kids and your school. I’ll be at work the following day(s). I’ll just be hungover and tired.

Morale of the story, don’t go to my bank those days.

Hey, I don’t feel like listening to some idiot talk while I’m sleeping in their class. I’ll save us both the trouble and just stay home.

        • Robinson Tilapia

Remember, that idiot once you get to college could be married to me. ;)

Im ignoring them as we speak!

Oh, and I have plenty of family who are teachers.

  • OMG! Bagels!

Went to bed last night. Couldn’t sleep. Woke up at 6. Showered, dressed, said screw this and went back to bed. Slept til 12. They keep running these games late and they can expect more of that from me.

This sucks. I gotta work late tomorrow so I’m going to miss the beginning of the game.

  • Karim Garcia

I work third shift…it’s going to be miserable having to go into work the same night if they manage to lose :/

  • Monterowasnotdinero

    Much better start time.

    Interesting stat:

    Jeter/Ichiro/Arod/Cano/Tex/Swish/Grandy/Ibanez/Martin

With this batting order-every player batting after ARod has more HR’s than him.

    Meaningless but depressing nevertheless….

    • Mike

Heck even Andruw Jones had a better HR/AB ratio than A-Rod.

      Interesting stat:
Yankees record with A-Rod in the line-up this year, 74-48.
Yankees record without A-Rod in the line-up this year, 21-19.

No, I’m not saying he’s the same player he used to be, or even a glimpse of the player he used to be in any way. No, I’m not saying that he should remain in the 3 or 4 spot in the batting order. What I’m saying is that the despite what the man is being “paid to do,” the Yankees can win without him being the 45HR 130RBI guy he was. And they seemed to do just fine when he was in the line-up earlier in the season, even when he was performing at less than his usual force in the line-up self. And why? Because the starting pitching was doing its job, the bullpen was doing its job, and there was contributions from other parts of the line-up and the bench. As in, they were winning as a team, and they were losing as a team. And that is no different now that they’re in the playoffs. Seriously, the amount of *obsession* people here have about this whole thing is ridiculous. Here we are in a post about start times for the games, and people just can’t let the A-Rod thing go. THAT’S what I call depressing. Get a freaking grip already.

      • DJ4K&Monterowasdinero

I used to be accused of putting Montero into every comment. These freaking grips are hard to get.

A few years ago when ARod was out for a month or so the Yanks played super without him.

Team can win with or without him but in a short series he seems to be very exposed and I am gonna be sick to my stomach if he strikes out to end our season for the 3rd year in a row.

Money is ruining the sports. Why cant we get a day game? Back in the golden era they played World Series games during the day. Whatever, it is what it is.

    • Eddard

We don’t want a day game. Some of us have to work during the day and wouldn’t be able to watch. The Yanks get ratings so they’re at night and that’s the way it should be. Day games are for the weekends.

    • Robinson Tilapia

I’d like a 6:00 AM game, since that’s when my kid’s waking me up lately.
