We want YOU, Yankees offense, to score RUNS. And A LOT OF THEM. NOW.
Phil is ophicially trying to give me a heart attack.
I don’t understand why people are overreacting (Get Phelps up!!!). Hughes looks great.
Because at his best he still gives up an obligatory HR.
Honestly who cares? Usually it’s with no one on base. It’s just frustrating to read the doom and gloom. Especially when his stuff looks this good.
With the way the offense is hitting, even a solo homer isn’t good.
Rewind. Look at Martin’s glove and look how badly Hughes is missing. He’s shaky at best. And don’t even argue 0 runs, we’re lucky the Orioles have a 95 wRC+ lineup which is below league average.
he does. Sometimes people get hits and he’s holding it down and not letting those runs come around to score.
He’s grinding out there. Objectively, he doesn’t look to good, but he’s not breaking. People get very touchy during the post season, give up a base runner? GET THE BULL PEN UP!!! Strike out w/ RISP? OUR OFFENSE IS TEH SUX!!!!
If we exclude Ibanez because it’s not fair to him to lump him together with everyone else who sucks, and subtract his two AB’s the Yankees postseason OPS is barely above .600
I don’t care how low your standards are, the fact is they’re underperforming.
Yankees have the highest team OPS among the four AL teams in the playoffs.
Literally only because of the Ibanez HRs. If we included every player who got regular playing time our OPS is ~.620
Phew, good thing those homers count then huh?
Oh it’s a good thing. All I’m saying is the rest of them suck.
I don’t know about great. He’s getting out of the jams, sure, but keep walking the leadoff batters and the likelihood is that it will eventually cost you.
Just got in. Seems Hughes has been okay so far. Pitch count seems a bit high.
Two more innings perhaps?
How is everyone doing after that craziness last night?
Pitch count is fine. On pace for 7 innings and 110 pitches.
I thought someone did something wrong again!
Shaky start for Hughes. But I’m very surprised and very satisfied. I can’t complain about him yet.
Are we watching the same game? Shaky?
A bunch of lead off walks. Almost all fly balls. It’s a little nerve racking.
He’s a fly ball pitcher.
Which is why it’s nerve racking.
Embrace the fly balls, they turn into outs far more often than they turn into hits.
With the way Cy Saunders is pitching, hopefully they all do today. I would like Johnson to blow a save and get a loss tonight actually.
Don’t just watch TV, direct TV.
Brace yourself for an A-Bomb.
Cal Ripken: “Phil is very good when he gets to 2 strikes, but he has a problem getting to 2 strikes”
what the fuck is he talking about. has he ever watched phil hughes?
that said, way to go phil!
Just making it up as he goes along.
Have to head to my next location. I leave the new game thread in the all of your capable hands, err, fingers. Hope to return to a victory thread.
Now is the inning! COME ON, YANKS! Let’s go!
Great at-bat, Robinson.
I would blame Cano before ARod.
This has not been Robinson Cano’s finest playoff series. 2-14 now. Ugly.
3 days off a Cano completely lost it. yuck.
In his defense, he’s facing on of the elite left handed pitchers in the game — Joe Saunders.
you mean future hall of famer joe saunders
Hardly. It’s baseball. He wasn’t going to hit 600 through the playoffs.
Jesus fucking Christ, Cano.
Damn Robbie, bad swing on a 1-0 count.
Dose this umpire understand that the Yankees help MLB make money?
That 0-1 pitch was called a ball last inning for Phil. Same pitch, same location!
Strike zone is awful.
Yeah A-Rod!
Yay-Rod!
Alright, A-Rod. Signs of life. Let’s do something here!
There we go.
Throw him a parade.
and give him a raise….
extensions…….parades……..Ike Davis………
He’s ALIVE!!!
it’s an a-single from a-rod!
A-Rod is still alive, folks.
2012 is real guys. Be afraid of the Mayans.
Why Samcro is working with them now.
http://www.google.com/imgres?q.....s:21,i:172
hahaha I know, they found another calendar in Guatemala.
next thing you know, swish’ will get an rbi
that’s just silly – stop it…
God swisher choke time
Ibanez next time up for swisher.
Swisher, or Granderson?
Please homer Swisher so we can put the tired narrative to bed.
Close…
Nice grab by the kid in the chair.
Poor ball boy. That man screamed at him.
Condolences to Joe Girardi. Losing a father is top 3 hardest thing.
seriously would have loved to call mine last night after the game
Well turned. Can’t knock the O’s they’re hanging in there.
The dead bats society is still here tonight. I can’t believe this. JOE SAUNDERS, PEOPLE!
You mean the guy who shut down the highest scoring offense in baseball?
I hope Swisher enjoys his last month in New York. Very likable guy, but belongs on a 4th place team.
He was on quite a few first place teams. And a championship team.
I get frustration, but there are way too many “kthxbai” comments. Who is the opening day 2013 right fielder then? Are we banking on Ichiro now?
If the Yankees can swing a trade for Justin Upton, sure. But what other scenario makes it a good idea to let Swisher walk?
Tori hunter
Older, not cheap, and likely to resign with the Angels. Next?
Right handed average hitter with some pop to Rf. perfect.
So what? I’ll repeat my comment: Older, not cheap, and likely to resign with the Angels. Next?
Don’t care about age, money would be for one year actually can hit when it counts not in April like you seem to ignore, but but he walks.
And you left out the “likely to resign with the Angels” part. So the Yankees bet it all on signing Hunter and let Swisher walk? Awesome. So let’s say Hunter resigns with the Angles. And then…..?
But does he suck in the playoffs. We need the worst hitter in the history of the playoffs to replace swisher.
I’d rather have Ichiro to be honest. He is so fucking bad in the playoffs he makes A-Rod look like Reggie. I’d prefer Hunter to Swisher 100 times out of 100.
Ichiro is useless, his little hot streak was fun while it lasted but it’s over.
Only Jeter and Tex have been on base more than Swisher this series, by the way.
I understand. But I’d rather have Ichiro only because I trust him more in the playoffs even though he hasn’t been great. At least he can steal a base and play some defense.
That just shows how bad the offense has been.
It’s great that you trust him, but he’s come to the plate more times than Swisher and has done less this series. The defense is fine, but Swisher’s power is so much more valuable that Ichiro’s steals it’s not even funny.
Honestly, I have more faith in Swisher to get on base and hit home runs than I do Ichiro’s speed/defense to hold up as he approaches 40.
Yankees replace Swisher with Ichiro, it is entirely possible that this decision is rewarded with a sub-.300 OBP.
Thank you, Mike. I was about to make the same comment. Ichiro was really bad for like, a year and a half. Do we really think a hot streak of a few weeks makes him a viable starter for next year? Really?
Of course it does!
Is Russell Martin no longer on the team? Is Raul Ibanez no longer on the team?
Being on base 5th most among a team of guys who haven’t hit almost at all in the postseason isn’t exactly the highest praise.
Yeah, feeling the clown act gets real tired when he’s playing like to garbage
Hes a Met wearing a Yankee uniform.
A-rod can’t do it all on his own guys
lol
Remember, Saunders shut the Texas Rangers down. The highest scoring offense in baseball. How must they feel?
Sigh. Gotta do better, Swish
Put some fucking runners in motion, Girardi. We barely have any to begin with, can’t be killing them with DP’s.
lefty on the mound and Wieters behind the plate, I don’t blame them for not running
Hit and run, at least. Station to station isn’t getting it done.
very overrated offense
There’s gotta be a more reasonable explanation out there than this offense being overrated. I’ll take the 162 game sample over the 3 game sample.
Have fun with that, the 162 games means dick-all in a short series.
Death by Saunders.
Don’t let the door hit you on the way our Swisher.
Cy Walter Christy Sandy Bob Whitey Nolan Roger Randy Pedro Tom Roy Saunders, everybody.
Love the croud cheering Arod when Grnaderson couldn’t hit a fucking ball off a batting tee. Just horrible.
Then how did they score so many runs? You’re fighting the numbers.
Joe Saunders…I mean Pedro Martinez
The 2003-2004 Yankees were able to score on Pedro more often than not.
This is becoming like a Cliff Lee performance.
Can you imagine the stupid facial hair swish will grow when he’s on the Mets next year?
Can the scoreboard operator just put up a 9 next to the “Inning” sign? Srsly.
As long as Phil keeps putting up zeros…
One run in the last 17 innings that wasn’t driven in by Raul Ibanez, and none in the last 12. Think about that.
Fucking McLouth again.
You gotta be fucking kidding me.
Shake it off Phil. It’s one run.
Phil does the Phil thing.
please take him out now.. he fucking sucks
Fuck. Well, it’s not like the Yankees would win with 0-1 runs anyway. Step it up!
Ok, there’s the one. Can’t allow any more.
Far too predictable. Fuck.
Time to get Philbert out of there. He’s missing his spots.
I hate nate.
Nate FUCKING McLouth…I cannot believe that.
Nate Mclouth. Nate fucking Mclouth.
Juicing
“They pay me to dump Gatorade on the guy who gets the big hit.”
-Nick Swisher
Phastball Phil.
Nate McClouth??? Seriously Hughes?!?!
you can count on one hand how many times Phil has hit his spot with the FB or the changeup tonight. He’s terrible, take him out
The scoreboard doesn’t agree with you.
Okay so they gave up a run, but a jack to Nate McFuckenClouth? Gross.
And it’d be nice if anyone except Ibanez could drive in a run. Alex has as many hits as Cano and Swisher. One more than Granderson. Where is the outcry against them? DO SOMETHING!
emmit fucking brown.
That was a much better time to give up that HR than the inning before.
Chris Davis pre-O’s: nobody
Nate McClouth pre-O’s: nobody
Fuck these guys.
Chris Davis was a decent prospect who put up a partial year of exciting numbers when he came up. Then I drafted him on my fantasy team on hype the next year. The rest is history.
Joe Saunders pre-Os: nobody
Miguel Gonzalez pre-Os: nobody
etc.
not pre o”s it is pre facing the beer league yankees.
McLouth is now 7 of his last 8 against Hughes, and I could swear he has a fucking ton of extra base hits in the last eight games these two teams have played.
Can’t get someone who couldn’t stick with the Pirates out. Unreal.
It’s OK because McLouth was once an All Star.
-Greg
Hughes knows what to do with 2 strikes? Since when?
I just honestly don’t know where this offense is. It’s bizarre.
Hey, did you guys know that Nate McClouth is former All-Star? Isn’t that just special???
so yesterday bob gipson pitched for the o’s and today it is koufax.
mcclouth is reggie.
again who is worse; swisher, granderson, arod, or tex??? i mean that is a hard call…they are all so bad it is head shacking.
hughes gave up his obligatory homer. he is on a tight rope and people usually fall off…
Learn to spell, knucklehead.
Cal says when Hughes get to 2 strikes he know what to do … he obviously hasn’t watched many Yankee games.
he does get them out in 15 extra pitches about league avg..
the announcers have zero clue……
As I typed that he stuck out 2 in a row, go figure.
We all knew it was going to happen, and probably will again. But it’s nice that he did it to lead off the inning instead of two runners on.
maybe phil settles down after the obligatory HR
Early signs are good. Offense still has to score for him, though.
Yeah, I’m not really gonna start complaining about 5 ip, 1 er.
People have been saying how are the Yankees being beaten by nobodies. This is how the Orioles have done it ALL YEAR. Not just against the Yankees. BUT ALL YEAR.
This inning is a microcosm of Phil’s season…two K’s and probably a pop out by Jones and a homer.
Cal hasn’t watched more than 5 Yankee games this year. He said Swisher had a strong arm and that Phil is tough when he has 2 strikes. Has he watched any of Phil’s starts?
swisher has a good arm compared to Damon and Jacoby Ellsbury..
clueless..
don’t worry the yanks are good for a 4 spot !!!!!!!! just kidding of course…
Go back to your Mets blog.
Don’t know why some people want Phil out of the game? I’ll take this performance any day from Phil.
Yeah. People get angry too quickly.
Yep, 1 run given up over 5 innings so far. That is a better era than CC, Kuroda, or Pettitte did.
Pettitte gave up 3 runs over 7, Hughes is doing better than that.
4 hits and 3 walks in 5 innings, the O’s have left 6 on base and have gone 0-7 with RISP. It’s just a matter of time before they catch up to his erratic pitches.
Results though. Sure he has given up alot of baserunners, but he is getting out of his jams. 1 solo hr is the only damage.
HUGHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are… ADORABLE. Haha really. The overreactions are absolutely comical.
If you’re a guy and you say adorable. Well that’s just weird.
Well aren’t you adorable
Why?
Damn, Phil lets in the run, the one time I leave for 5 min to get food.
Hughes is on tonight. Now let’s bat like the New York Yankees!
Hughes has labored, but 1 ER in 5 IP is not bad at all, end result wise.
Score some fucking runs, already. This offense has made the Mariners look like a fucking juggernaut in this series.
The Yankees have scored 0 runs against Joe Saunders but let’s all jump on Hughes.
Oh please say something bad about the offense and you also get canned.
I just think people have been way to hard on Hughes tonight. The walks were frustrating obviously as was the homer, but his results have been very good.
If Granderson can’t do anything here I’d take him out next time at bat. Our only hope of scoring a run might be if Nixy and Jeter get on, then they can PH Ibanez for Ichiro.
My thinking was to pop ichiro over to center, and ibanez take over in left for grandy.
score fucking runs now. starting pitching has been very good.
If I was going strictly by Hummingbird’s comments I’d think that Hughes must have given up at least 3 bombs and be down 5 runs at this point.
He’s been terrible, but lucky. Luck eventually runs out. I’d like for Girardi to take him out before his luck runs out.
There’s no way you can say he’s been good. Unlees your name is Greg and you have no understanding of baseball whatsoever.
lol
?
1 ER on a solo shot and 6 Ks through 5IP? I’ll take it.
How come when Andy puts guys on but doesn’t allow them to score he’s “grinding” and “effective” but when Hughes does it he’s terrible?
Nice bounce back striking out the side. Overall Phil has pitched well, but once again the vaunted offense can’t get anything done against a mediocre pitcher.
Swisher does it again . Two at bats fails with runners on base against a pitcher who the diamondbacks released if swisher is in the lineuptomorrow the yanks lose. If I were girardi I pinch hit nunez for him and let Gardner take over if Joe refuses to play ibanez
The Diamondbacks didn’t release Saunders.
Nunez isn’t very good, either.
One more K by Granderson and I insert Gardner. If Jeter and Nix get on I PH Ibanez for Ichiro. Defense be damned, we need offense and he’s all we’ve got.
Problem with Hughes is he lets the batters get to comfortable. He needs to buzz a few guys.
Problem with Hughes is that his offense is being stymied by the second coming of Pedro Martinez in left-hander form.
Hey imagine that…Phil Hughes allows a home run and the Yankee offense continues to get shat on by Joe Fucking Saunders.
Hey Imagine that…you have something negative to whine about.
Lead off walk. Make this the start of a good inning.
Yay, another runner to strand.
Some hitting tips for Grandy: If it looks like it’s spinning funny and moving vertically DONT FUCKING SWING!!
I got excited for a second because I thought Nix was up, then I realized Grandy is up before him.
BUNT
Granderson can’t even bunt.
KURTIS TIME
even his fucking bunts look horrible
Grandy is totally useless now.
Are you frakking kidding me, Curtis?
ugh, its gotten that bad
cant even bunt.. terrible
How can you not fucking bunt? Thank God next year will probably be his last.
Kurtis you fucking suck.
Granderson is an automatic K right now.
Go away Kurtis. Seriously.
FUCK, GRANDERSON!
Can’t get mad at the obvious.
I don’t think he bats next time around
That was terrible.
Alright, I love Grandy, but this is getting fucking ridiculous
Boy Greg, you were right, good thing Granderson is in there. It’s not like this was predictable at all…
fuck that douche. put gardner in and have him all at bats… fucking curtis
What happened to Curtis? He’s turned into Dave Kingman.
He has always been DaveKingman-esque, it’s not something recent, that’s why the Yankees traded for him, its the kind of trades that make Cashman’s mouth water: trade a young player, specially if its classified as a good prospect, for an old player who strikes out a ton and pulls the ball.
KKKKKKKurtis has 1100+ K’s in his career in a bit over 1100 games played.
Tell me again about great number against this guy.
and that’s the reason you can’t play Granderson against lefties.
Trying to stay positive: it wasn’t a three-pitch K. So Saunders’ pitch count is slightly more elevated than it would have been.
Also, YHGTBSM Curtis.
Do you think Girardi can PH for Kurtis later in the game?
1. Let Granderson bunt
2. Let him bunt again
3. Throw a slider 6 inches off the plate on top of his feet
That is how you strike out Kurtis.
FCUKING PUT IN GARDNER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh, fuck me
oh come on…..
OH FUCK YOU NATE MCLOUTH.
Ugh.
FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
Even when we don’t suck….we suck.
Wow russel really?
Are you kidding me?
Well, we’re losing this game. Oriole magic survives again.
ALL THE NEGATIVITY.
But not hateful negativity. That’s the key.
No fucking key, Greg. Stop it.
lol ok then.
Seriously, you are such a hypocrite.
this fucking team… what the fuck was martin doing?
Fuck you McClouth. I hope you get paralyzed.
What are you..14?
such bad baseball
Hell of a play man.
But god damn, Granderson has got to sit for Gardner.
Nate Mclouth, All Star
I hope he gets plunked.
Nate McClouth can go fuck himself. Overachieving nobody POS.
Terrible baserunning, have to wait at second. If he misses that and it goes off the wall, Martin’s still scoring from 2nd.
Nix needs to learn to pull that ball more and he’d have 2 homers now.
Damn. Just…damn.
There are so many useless bats in this lineup right now, and no one to replace them with.
I wonder if Grandy realizes he sucks right now. Whats next, does Joe pinch hit Gardner for him? At least Gardy can get a bunt down.
I think he probably knows.
This is downright pathetic.
Granderson doesn’t even put up a competitive at bat anymore. Martin with one of the worst baserunning plays you could make there. The guy was practically camped right underneath the ball…
I don’t know how Girardi can justify pinch hitting for A-Rod but leaving Granderson in there to embarrass himself night after night. A-Rod is working counts. Granderson is a 3 pitch strikeout nearly every at bat.
“The guy was practically camped right underneath the ball…”
lol wut?
It was a bad baserunning play, so need to make shit it up to prove the point.
By the time he caught it, he was barely moving back on it. He clearly had room, so Martin had to hold up and see if he could jump high enough to catch it. It was not that difficult a play for him once he got back to the wall.
no need to be that far away from second
This keeping Granderson in the line up is a fucking joke. Put Nunez or anyone in there for the love of God. The guy can’t even bunt!
This whole not hitting thing is getting really old. Older than these Samsung commercials. Wake up or go home. Now, we got Jeter-Ichiro-Tex coming up in the sixth. Here’s whats going to happen.
Jeter gets on base
Ichiro does his bullshit off balance K-swing
Tex bounces into DP
I just don’t know why we have an all defense team in there when we need runs. Ibanez should be in there. He should PH for Ichiro next inning. And just take a shot with Gardner, Granderson ain’t doing nothing. He is going to force us to have to use CC tomorrow.
If we had the all defensive team in then Gardner would already be in there.
Nice baserunning Martin… the ball is directly in front of you.
He has to stop at 2nd on that, regardless of how good a catch it was. you have to see that ball down (or off the wall).
Agree. Dumb.
It was a risk, but one worth taking in my opinion. It took a great play. And scoring opportunities are few and far between right now.
Top of the order next inning.
On the replay it looked like the ball was off the wall!
Gardy/Nunez please.
Why Nunez?
because his names not granderson
Unfortunately, when many people were hoping for Saunders to start, this is why I was hoping for Tillman. Much better history, not in the groove, and not a lefty (with a sinker).
This strike zone is as infuriating as the offense!
Your hopeing it stays in the yard
John Smoltz Yankee Hater
He was clearly talking from McLouth’s POV.
Thats why he growned when he hit it too.
He’s still fuming over the ’96 and ’99 Series…
Nice pitch, Phil.
It’s high fucking time that this offense scores some runs.
Joe Freakin’ Saunders… seriously?
Strike four get him
SCORE RUNS! Simple as that.
Still think Phil Hughes is sucking, Hummingbird?
Alright, Hughes is pitching great. Time for some run support.
hughes is pitching a great game. hopefully the yanks can come through and give him a few runs to work with.
This postseason. tv is glorious.
Yankee SP ERA in this series is now 2.40.
This offense continues to make the Mariners look like a juggernaut. Impossible to watch.
Nice pitching, Phil.
We can haz offense nao?
It’s pretty sad that guys like Nix and Ibanez have no problem squaring up mistakes every time up there, but our so called “all stars,” aka Cano, A-Rod, Teixeira, and Granderson either take or pop up pitches right down the middle and bail the opposing pitcher out.
Phil is pitching his heart out. Better than Andy. Better than Hiroki. Even better than CC! And they haven’t done a damn thing for him. Best ABs have been by Jayson Nix who is only playing because Jeter’s foot.
Jeter gets on
PH Ibanez for Ichiro. I’m sick of watching Ichiro sit there and watch 2 strikes go by and then corkscrew into the ground and swing at a ball for strike 3.
PH Nunez for Granderson if Saunders is still in and then put Gardner in CF.
In all 3 prior games, the outcome has been determined by the Orioles bullpen, specifically Jim Johnson. No surprise that this will continue tonight.
Raul will be ready.
Phil Hughes has been pretty damn good.
Why is this team getting shut out by Joe Saunders?
The last time the Yankees beat a team in the ALDS other then the Twins was the 2001 A’s.
Tex Swish Grandy
Help!!!!!
Runs (note the plural), you heartless SOBs. C’mon, Yankees!!!
Attaboy, Cap’.
NOW DO NOT LET ICHIRO HIT! PH IBANEZ!
Need him for Jim Johnson!
Always rely on the Captain
Captain!! get him in now fuckers.
Jetes!
Jetes!
Fine.
Score THIS run, fuckers.
game on!
Jeter! Now turn that into many runs.
Alright Cap! Let’s start something here!
All right, plate this fucking run.
here we go, let’s see how they fail to score now
Jesus dude. Which one are you rooting for?
Nice job Ichiro, productive out.
I don’t have faith in Tex right now…
At least ichiro can bunt.
Come on Tex! Just a sac fly.
Swing the damn bat.
Why bunt?
I guess I don’t mind the bunt too much, with the lefty matchup.
Get a sac fly, if nothing else.
The Yankees have score 2 runs in their past 14 innings. The only man responsible for those 2 runs is sitting on the bench.
Wow fuck this umpire.
look at the calls Saunders is getting. fucking bullshit.
I hope no one gets pissed at the bunt. It’s not like we’re fucking lighting the ball up.
what the fuck is with this ump!
Jeter’s appreciation of the strike zone is just astounding. He’s foul/leave decision making is superb. Really enjoying his at-bats this week. Come on Tex/Robbie, score him in.
*His foul/leave decision making, sorry….(it’s 2am, I’m all over the place!)
2 pitches nowhere close to bury him in an 0-2 hole. Awesome.
Crappy strike, crappy strike
If Tex strikes out right now, so help me
Ridiculous umpiring
Come on, someone please get a lucky hit…
And as I say that they give away an out. I’m in between on that. Ichiro’s got good history against him, but looks bad tonight as does the rest of the team.
Unfortunately, I’m not so sure that Tex can even get the ball in play.
WTF with this strike zone?
umpire is robbing the yankees
No where near a strike.
This strikezone….Christ.
Surprised that ball in the dirt wasn’t a called strike
Wow. Nice strike one call, seriously it wasn’t even close.
Ball 4…no wait it’s 2-2.
5-0 count, let’s see what he does with it!
And I guess he didn’t have the green light on 5-1. BALL 6!!
i loled
These guys should be caned for this game
Time for Robbie to do something.
Here we go Robbie…
Hey, we got our two fastest runners on base.
This is what we want, our best hitter with runners on. NO DP! NO K! Score the run even if you make an out. Jesus, come on Cano.
Time to step it up and claim your place as the next Yankee great, Cano.
Would be nice if Cano could hit a freaking fly ball for once with a runner at 3rd
come on cano!!!!
time for Robbie to do something. He’s the best player on this team, time to play like it.
Looks like this cocksucker home plateumpire got the memo from selig to screw the yanks those first two pitches becalmed for strikes to Tex were way inside
Easy, Olive Stone.
I see the orange undershirt under the umps jacket. Dick. Surprised he didn’t call ball 6 a strike.
Normally a good situation, but Cano has been terrible.
Can we please get one AB from good-Robbie!!!
PLEASE!!!
Come on, Robbie.
COME ON ROBBIE
7 straight pitches out of the zone.
Tex did well to foul off the first 3-2 pitch as the ump would have rang him up.
taking a base on balls with that joke strike zone is nothing short of heroic.
C’mon Robbie.. IN THE AIR
C’mon Cano, all we need is a moderately deep fly ball.
WE GOT A RUN!
At least it’s tied.
holy shit I thought that was a DP for sure.
I’ll take the run.
WE’LL TAKE IT! Now Alex can be the hero with a hit!
So small ball. Suck it haters.
got a run in…fuck it…here comes arod. big moment!!!
Geez Cano, that was damn scary.
But at least got the minimum job done, barely…
Not what we wanted to see from Cano, but man does it feel good to get the score tied at least.
This.
Almost had a heart attack right there
whew
OK, I’ll take that. Now it’s time for Alex to park one into the seats.
Tied!
not ideal, but we’ll take it…
Drove in a run at least…..
I preferred a double, but an RBI is an RBI. Nice.
Tie game!
arod’s got the:
Whoa, how can they not hold the runner on?
I’ll take it!
Let’s go Alex!
Buck’s going to the pen.
Buck’s going to bring in Oday’s frisbee to strike out Alex.
alright, time to bring in Chavez or Ibanez
Wow, talk about a quick hook…
Thanks for not telling us who was warming up or coming in TBS.
They showed Hunter warming up. I’m assuming he’s coming in.
Oh, my bad, I must’ve missed that.
It was Hunter I think
Our game we are in their pen.
pretty short leash for saunders…i was hoping he’d be taken out after the abomb.
Was really hoping they would rough up Saunders like they did the last time he pitched an October game in the Bronx.
At least he’s not leaving with the lead.
Alex, please be the hero.
Hunter is throwing high 90′s out of the pen, can they really let ARod hit here?
His one hit per 12 at bats was his last plate appearance.
Raul, That’s where the contact play works.
Come on, A-Rod. You’ve got this. The base hit is just as heroic as the homer.
Hunter (a righty) coming in. Pinch hit Ibanez again, or leave A-Rod?
Honest question. Not sure I have an opinion really.
Too early I think.
Accidental runs are still runs, I suppose.
..and of course, it all comes down to A-Rod.
I wouldn’t PH for Alex tonight because Alex has worked a walk and has a hit. He’s seeing the ball better and this is his chance for redemption. I’d use Raul later in the game when we need him more.
You’re fire.
Saunder was great tonight with some help from the umpire
Yup, the umpires have been at it again vs the NYY.

Right down Broadway.
A-Rod swings at the off-speed pitch in the dirt, takes a fastball right down the middle.
Regardless of the result, Alex’s approach looks 10x better tonight
*sigh*
Well, Alex is back to whiffing.
That’s always nice.
No chance.
Hey, it’s tied, Saunders is out. Not fantastic, but I’ll take it.
Shit, that wasn’t not predictable.
predictable strikeout. I hope this is A-Rod’s last AB in this game.
I don’t think Chavez was hitting that either.
I know, it’s crazy to think that a guy who OPS’d more than .800 against righties couldn’t hit straight fastballs down the middle.
Unbelieveable, stupid fans. He was basically their only offense before this inning, so he makes and out and quick, boo him again!
They are idiots.
A-Rod had a good swing at that 1-2 fastball in the at bat. Hunter is throwing 97-98 mph and showed a good curve right away. He may have struck out, but the at bat was not that bad.
The Arod apologencia is truly pathetic.
Yeah, because striking out against a guy who threw a 98 mph fastball by you in a 1-2 count up in the zone is just inexcusable.
The guy threw him a nasty curveball to start the at bat, and then came back with high 90′s heat in the zone. Nobody is going to hit a pitcher when he is throwing like that.
Look you you’re replying to. dalelama is about as “one trick pony” as it gets. Even stuart a mixes it up more than him/her.
It’s better than anything Granderson’s been doing.
Exactly. But I just hope both of them snap out of it soon.
Tie game. Assuming Phil, but if he runs into any trouble, the bullpen needs to be ready. 3 more innings until the finish line, hopefully.
Damn A-Rod. Five more years…ouch. Go see cousin Suri.
Lance armstrong stuff is better
That was no surprise, when counts the most Arod contributes the least…just reinforces his title of Chokemaster General.
Fresh.
Your post was also no surprise.
That was no surprise, when Arod makes an out dalelama comes on and complains.
Is Chokemaster General anything like Jam Master Jay? ‘Cause if he is, that’d be pretty fucking rad.
Any relation to stuart a?
Fortunately not. Fuck the Mets.
Obsessed.
Signed through 2017.
Don’t give the lead back, Phil.
Shutdown inning Philbert.
Infield fly on that last one.
Hah!
Where was that 0-2?
I am afraid of Phil Hughes vs. Nate McLouth.
Joe was too.
Right time to pull him.
What a job, Phil. Well done.
Good move Joe.
Huuuuuuuughes.
Guess I’m not too surprised to see this since McLouth seems to own Hughes.
Why pull him? He was awesome tonight! Fucking great. This better not come back and bite us.
McClouth has been the only offense for the O’s tonight.
I know it doesn’t feel like it, but how awesome has the starting pitching been this series?
Oh, it feels like it – unfortunately it’s been for both sides!
Zero complaints about any of the Yankee pitching.
Good job, Phil. Can’t ask for much more than 6.2, 1 run from your #4 starter. We need the offense to show up.
We could ask 0 next time.
Phil was money.
I’m watching the debate on the TV and the game on the IPad, but read that screen name again. I believe in Phil Hughes.
WIN THIS.
Hughes is out…
I still don’t get why Girardi is using Logan as a matchup lefty.
Rapada is better against LHB than Logan, and Logan can pitch to both righties and lefties.
So basically Girardi is wasting one of his roster spots by using Logan for only 1 batter, and then he is wasting another roster spot by carrying a guy he never intends to use (Rapada). Why even carry Clay on the roster if he won’t even be used in these spots?
Logan is higher than Rapada in the pecking order.
Booooooooooone!
That was a strike for Saunders.
It was.
im so sick of hearing his 2008 AS appearance.
I’m listening on the radio, so are these pitches actually missing?
Well, at least McLouth is finally out.
Time to take the lead.
