Yankees “don’t seem” to be involved in Haren race
ByVia Jon Heyman: The Yankees “don’t seem” to be one of the clubs involved in the race for Dan Haren. The Angels will reportedly look to move the right-hander today so they can avoid exercising his $15.5M option. They already traded Ervin Santana (to the Royals for a non-prospect) and hope to save as much cash as possible so they can re-sign Zack Greinke. I wrote more about Haren and the Yankees a few weeks ago.

Good. Stay away. Last thing the Angels need is more prospects and if we want to trade for a pitcher with red flags, get Lincecum. At least there’s still upside in him and he’s on the right side of 30.
I’d take Haren for the same trade as the Royals got Santana. A 27 yr old AAA reliever.
If they’re staying away, I hope it’s because they’ve given the medicals a thorough look and don’t like what they see. If Haren is healthy they should try for him, but that’s obviously a huge if.
Wait until they see the attendance next yr.
‘Don’t seem to be involved’ = Cashman is working out a A-Rod for Haren trade right now.
Best to stay out of this. Our priority should be to re-sign Andy and Hiroki. Let Hughes and Phelps continue to blossom. CC, Andy, Hiroki, Hughes, Phelps.
If Haren was a Yankee and coming off 3 years of decline, everyone would want the Yankees to trade him….he’s the pitching version of Granderson.
+1
Arod for Vernon wells and Dan haren. I’d make that trade.
