  • CF Melky Mesa: 3-5, 2 R, 1 HR, 3 RBI, 2 K — six hits in his last 19 at-bats (.316)
  • LF Zoilo Almonte: 2-5, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K — second straight game with a homer
  • 3B Ronnie Mustelier: 3-5, 1 R, 1 CS
  • RHP Chien-Ming Wang: 7 IP, 6 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 1 WP, 9/4 GB/FB — 57 of 87 pitches were strikes (66%) … one run allowed in his last three starts (19.1 innings)

  • RHP Mark Montgomery: 1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 0 K, 1 HB, 0/1 GB/FB — 14 of 23 pitches were strikes (61%)

Double-A Trenton (2-0 loss to Harrisburg) OF Tyler Austin didn’t play for the second straight day, so I guess he’s banged up

  • DH Ramon Flores: 1-4
  • CF Slade Heathcott: 1-3, 1 BB
  • C J.R. Murphy: 0-4, 2 K — stuck in a 4-for-26 (.154) rut
  • RHP Jose Ramirez: 6 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 5 K, 2 WP, 3/4 GB/FB — 45 of 77 pitches were strikes (58%)

High-A Tampa‘s game is suspended due to rain in the middle of the fourth inning. They’ll finish it up tomorrow. Here’s the box score if you can’t want until then. Not a lot happened.

Low-A Charleston (8-1 loss to Augusta)

  • CF Jake Cave: 0-4, 1 K — the hitless streak is up to 27 at-bats
  • DH Greg Bird: 0-2, 2 BB, 1 K — leads all non-Dan Johnson minor leaguers in the system with 40 walks
  • C Peter O’Brien & 3B Dante Bichette Jr.: both 1-4, 1 K — O’Brien picked a runner off second and DBJ committed a fielding error
  • LHP Evan Rutckyj: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 3 BB, 3 K, 1 WP, 6/5 GB/FB

The Dominican Summer League season started today, so you can see the box scores right here. The Short Season Staten Island and Rookie GCL Yankees seasons open on June 17th and 21st, respectively. Remember, the Yankees will field two GCL squads this summer.
