Spring Training Game Thread: Yankees @ Blue Jays

By

The Yankees are across the bay in Dunedin to play the Blue Jays this afternoon, their fourth-to-last Grapefruit League game. A handful of regulars will play in the day game following the night game, and Chris Leroux is making the spot start as the rotation gets lined up for the start of the regular season. Here are the Yankees and Blue Jays lineups. This afternoon’s game is available on MLB.tv only, not YES or MLB Network. Talk about it here if you’re watching.

The camera angle is so awful.

I know. There’s no way to tell where the pitch is crossing the plate. Or whether.

  • lightSABR

Fun to see the Yankees go to town on Dickey like this. Jeter even hit a ball out of the infield!

    • I’m One

He did that last night too. A soft fly ball to RF. Did he hit this one with any authority?

      • Yankee$

Didn’t see the hit. Just hit a dying quail “liner” to CF for an out.

      • lightSABR

Yes, if I remember right. I think it was a legit line drive single.

        • I’m One

Encouraging. He needs a lot more of those. I’m hoping he figures some things out over the next couple of weeks and doesn’t embarass himself this season.

          • Darren

            You’re an idiot.

            • forensic

              This escalated quickly.

    • Yankee$

      They are pounding Dickey.

      • The Great Gonzo

        Oh thats funny… because penis!

        • Yankee$

          I’m here all week.

  • lightSABR

Also amusing to note the lack of a radar gun. I’ve never watched Dickey before, and I was looking forward to seeing a few 60s on the screen.

  • dude

does anyone understand who preston claiborne is not considered a lock to make the pen?

he must have like 4 options left or something…he was so dirty last year

  • nyyankfan_7

Is Claiborne a lock for the bullpen? Has looked horrible today and other times I’ve seen him this spring.

    • RetroRob

I think he’s a lock to be DFA’d if the Yankees need a roster spot!

  • lightSABR

Yikes. I leave for lunch for an hour, and the Yankees give up eight runs.
