Here’s a fun article from Jeff Sullivan looking at the Yankees bullpen over the last two decades. The Yankees have not had a below-average bullpen during that time, and, according to WPA, they’ve totaled 38.5 more wins than any other relief crew in those 20 years. Obviously Mariano Rivera has a lot to do with that, but it’s not all him. The Yankees did have some sketchy setup crews from about 2002-07, but, by and large, the bullpen has been great for most of our lifetimes.

This is the open thread for the evening. There is no Monday Night Football because the regular season is over, but you’ve still got the Nets, Devils, and some college hoops on the schedule. Discuss those games, Sullivan’s article, or anything else right here.
