Mark Montgomery allowed three of Boston’s four runs in his inning of work. Chasen Shreve, Johnny Barbato, and Nick Goody each threw a perfect inning and Nick Rumbelow pitched around a double in his inning of work. The Yankees used nine different pitchers. One an inning. Here is the box score, here are the video highlights, and here are the day’s notes:
- As always, Chad Jennings has today’s workout groups. Nathan Eovaldi (groin) threw live batting practice as scheduled and all went well. CC Sabathia, Luis Severino, Michael Pineda, Dellin Betances, Andrew Miller, and Jacob Lindgren all threw bullpens, and the position players who didn’t play this afternoon took batting practice.
- Refsnyder is scheduled to play third base in tomorrow’s game, so that should be fun. It’ll be his first ever game action at the hot corner. Betances and Miller are tentatively scheduled to make their spring debuts Monday. [Ryan Hatch]
- Chase Headley worked on turning the double play from the shortstop position just in case the ball comes his way when the Yankees have a big time infield shift on. I remember A-Rod turning a double play like that two years ago. [Hatch]
- Among those making the trip to Clearwater for tomorrow’s game are Refsnyder, Vicente Campos, James Pazos, Gary Sanchez, Starlin Castro, Didi Gregorius, Tyler Wade, Dustin Fowler, Slade Heathcott, and the starting pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka. That game will be on MLB.tv but not YES. MLB Network will show it on a tape delay. [Jennings]
This is tonight’s open thread. YES is replaying this afternoon’s game after tonight’s Nets game, whenever that ends. Figure 11pm ET or so. The Knicks are playing too and there’s a whole bunch of college hoops on the schedule. MLB Network is also showing some games on tape delay throughout the night. Talk about those games or anything right here.
