In case you missed it earlier, OF Clint Frazier was activated off the disabled list and optioned to Triple-A Scranton. His rehab assignment is over and he’s a full-time RailRider. Some other quick notes and links:
- We have our first prospect promotion of the season: Matt Kardos reports RHP Jonathan Loaisiga has been bumped up to Double-A Trenton. He’ll start tomorrow. Loaisiga, who’d thrown only 2.1 innings in full season leagues prior to this year, had a 1.35 ERA (1.23 FIP) with 32.5% strikeouts and 1.3% walks in four starts and 20 innings for High-A Tampa.
- After SS Thairo Estrada was shot in the hip during a robbery attempt in January, doctors did even more damage trying to remove the bullet, Triple-A Scranton manager Bobby Mitchell told Brendan Kuty. The bullet is still in Estrada’s hip and it’s going to stay there. “I think he’s a little bit apprehensive,” said Mitchell when asked how Thairo looks on the field so far.
- Double-A Trenton pitching coach Tim Norton kinda sorta suggested LHP Justus Sheffield could be promoted to Triple-A Scranton soon. “When the time comes, I’m sure he’ll move (up) eventually, whenever that is. He just needs to keep putting together good work weeks, and he has thus far. He’ll be just fine. When it’s time, it’s time.,” said Norton to Chris Bumbaca.
- Mitchell gave Kuty some scouting reports on his players, including RHP Chance Adams and RHP Brady Lail. Adams’ velocity has been wavering so far this year. “He’s had some really good outings and then he kind of takes a step backward. And it’s not a big step backward. It’s just a step backward,” said Mitchell.
