Less than one week left in the minor league regular season, so here’s another standings update. One affiliate has clinched a postseason spot, two others are in a race for a postseason spot, and the five others have been eliminated from postseason contention.
Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (10-2 loss to Syracuse) they are 79-55 and have already been eliminated in the division race … they’re one game back of the wild card spot and there are five teams within 1.5 games of that spot, so the race is tight … Scranton’s regular season ends next Monday, September 3rd
- SS Tyler Wade: 0-3, 1 R, 1 BB, 2 K, 2 E (fielding, throwing)
- DH Gary Sanchez: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 K — here’s video of the homer, his second in as many days … including his first rehab stint a few weeks ago, he has four homers in five games with Scranton
- 3B Gio Urshela: 2-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI — dude has been on fire for a good three weeks now
- 1B Mike Ford: 0-3, 1 K, 1 HBP
- RF Ryan McBroom: 0-3, 1 BB, 2 K
- RHP Adonis Rosa: 5.2 IP, 10 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 4 K, 2 HR, 1 WP, 8/7 GB/FB — 68 of 103 pitches were strikes (66%) … he’s in the rotation because RHP Chance Adams and LHP Justus Sheffield have moved to the bullpen the stretch run
Double-A Trenton Thunder (8-1 win over Altoona) they are 74-60 and have already clinched a postseason spot … they’ll play New Hampshire (Blue Jays) in the first round and are one game back of home field advantage in that series … their regular season ends next Monday, September 3rd
- 3B Brandon Wagner: 3-6, 1 R, 1 RBI — 5-for-9 the last two days after a 5-for-44 (.114) skid
- LF Trey Amburgey: 1-4, 1 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K
- 1B Gosuke Katoh: 1-5, 4 K
- C Chris Rabago: 0-5, 2 K — 0-for-15 with six strikeouts in three games since the waiver claim
- RHP Jonathan Loaisiga: 4 IP, 5 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 3 K, 1 HR, 2/5 GB/FB — 42 of 58 pitches were strikes (72%) … three runs in eleven innings in his three games back from the shoulder issue
- RHP Domingo Acevedo: 3 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 2 K, 2/3 GB/FB — 27 of 49 pitches were strikes (55%) … two runs in 7.2 innings in his three games back from the biceps issue
The High-A Tampa Tarpons were rained out. They’re going to play a doubleheader tomorrow. Tampa is 67-66 overall and they have already been eliminated from postseason contention. Their season ends this Sunday, September 2nd.
Low-A Charleston RiverDogs (11-2 loss to Columbia) they are 60-70 overall and have been eliminated from postseason contention … their season ends next Monday, September 3rd

Short Season Staten Island Yankees (8-4 win over Hudson Valley) at 35-32, they are six games back in the division and one game back of the wild card spot with two teams ahead of them … their regular season ends next Monday, September 3rd
- DH Chris Gittens: 1-4, 1 2B, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 3 K — he’s rehabbing from an unknown injury … I imagine he’ll be back with Trenton in time for the postseason
- C Josh Breaux: 3-5, 2 R — this year’s second rounder is 12-for-29 (.414) during his seven-game hitting streak
- LF Canaan Smith: 2-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 K — today and yesterday are his first set of back-to-back multi-hit games all season

Rookie Pulaski Yankees (8-5 loss to Elizabethton) they are 31-36 and have already been eliminated from postseason contention … their season ends tomorrow

- RF Anthony Garcia: 1-5, 1 R, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — threw a runner out at the plate … now 1-for-17 (.059) in four games with Pulaski
- CF Isaiah Pasteur: 1-2, 1 R, 2 BB 1 K — got picked off first not once, but twice
- C Hemmanuel Rosario: 1-4, 1 PB
- RHP Pedro Espinola: 2.1 IP, 4 H, 5 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 6 K, 1 HR, 2/0 GB/FB — 43 of 70 pitches were strikes (61%)
The Rookie GCL Yankees East‘s season is over. They went 19-35 and didn’t qualify for the postseason.
