Game 96: The Start of the Second Half
Mets 7, Yanks 5: Offense can't overcome German's latest dud

In case you missed it earlier, OF Clint Frazier was placed on the Triple-A disabled list and is going through the league’s concussion protocol. He left last night’s game with concussion symptoms after attempting a diving catch. Frazier missed a bunch of time with a concussion earlier this year. Suffering another one so soon is bad news. Hope Clint’s okay.

Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (5-1 win over Columbus)

  • LF Billy McKinney: 1-4, 1 R, 1 2B, 1 BB, 3 K
  • 1B Tyler Austin: 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 E (fielding) — four homers in 18 Triple-A games now
  • DH Mike Ford: 1-5, 1 RBI, 1 K
  • SS Abi Avelino: 2-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI — 13 homers in 92 games … his previous career high was six homers in 126 games in 2016
  • RHP Luis Cessa: 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 9 K, 5/2 GB/FB — 53 of 69 pitches were strikes (77%) … he really should take Domingo German’s spot in the big league rotation until the Yankees make a trade (the trade deadline is right around the corner, so we’re probably talking one Cessa start here)
