Minor League rosters

As Joe mentioned earlier, Triple-A Scranton’s roster is basically set. Same deal with Double-A Trenton and Low-A Charleston. I’m glad to the see the Yanks took the right approach with Eduardo Nunez and Austin Jackson, leaving them at Charleston so they can get themselves together as opposed to rushing them. I do think they’re making a mistake by sending Tim Norton to Charleston instead of High-A Tampa, but it will be fun to see him put up 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 9 K lines until he’s promoted.

Speaking of High-A Tampa, via the highly scientific process of elimination I can tell you that Tampa’s rotation is going to consist of George Kontos, Ian Kennedy, Joba Chamberlain, and 2 guys to be named later (I’m thinking Zack Kroenke and relievers until Lance Pendleton is ready in late April, but just imagine if Christian Garcia was healthy). The lineup will have (in no particular order) Colin Curtis, Marcos Vechionacci, Jose Tabata, Ben Jones, Juan Miranda and Tim Battle, amongst others.

Forget about Scranton, that team in Tampa is going to be stacked.  Like 2005 Jacksonville Suns stacked.

What have they decided to do with Betances?

Extended Spring Training for awhile. Zach McAllister too.

They’ll probably go to Charleston eventually, and hopefully, both of these guys continue to impress. Any word on where the top latin-American signees (Urena, Montero, Almonte, Cuello, etc.) will be starting. Staten Island? GCL? Latin American leagues? Tampa could be even more stacked of Austin Jackson does well in his return to Charleston, and gets promoted. I agree, Norton at Charleston seems a little strange, I would like to see him follow Kontos to high-A, and see if he has a chance to stick as a starter, or if he will become a reliever.

    Onley today

So he was asked what were his opening day impressions. Yanks win, Schilling..their NO 1 starter got bombed by the worst team in the AL…so you’d think he would talk about that? No mention of that. He starts picking apart the Yankee defense…becaue errors on day one are automatically a sign of a terrible defense. He basically said the Yanks are in BIG TROUBLE because Jeter, Arod, Matsui and Phelps are all HACKS! Apparently he doesn’t think Schilling getting bombed by the Royals is a big deal. RSN ESPN is at full strength boys.

Errors in the opening game of the year – in the early innings no less – are meaningless.

And Joe – Minky would have scooped that ball on the bad throw by Jeter. That’s 1 error (and 1 unearned run) he would have saved this year so far.

Why does Vech deserve to be promoted to Tampa? and Tim Battle too? Vech was only league average last year, he couldnt even crack an 800 OPS in Charleston. basically the same with battle.

Good move with taking it slow with Jackson tho.
