We-want-Mil-ton

By

In a somewhat surprising move, the Oakland A’s have designated Milton Bradley for assignment. The team now has 10 days to either trade him or grant him his outright release.

There is a common misconception that a DFAd player must pass through waivers. This is untrue. While it is common for a DFAd player to be placed on waivers, the intention is to outright him to the minor leagues. Because Bradley has five years of MLB service time, he cannot be outrighted to the minors. So it’s either trade him, or he’s a free agent in 10 days.

With Jason Giambi out and Johnny Damon near a DL stay, we think Milton, attitude problem or not, can help this team.

if they sign milton then how does the rotation work once damon comes back? melky would probably be the odd man out since bradley is a good fielder.

that could be the worst idea i’ve ever heard. sry, but u can do better than that…

there’s a reason he cant finish up a contract with any team. people are sick of his whining, getting injured and still whining, and constant arrests. the yankees need stability on their team, not some guy with an attitude problem who you’re never sure is gonna play everyday.

Hey, there’s no obligation to him past this year. We’re looking short term fix here, not an outfielder of the future.

  4. Mike A. says:

In his defense, if you listen to any interviews with people he used to play with, they all rave that Bradley is an excellent teammate. He just lets his emotions get the best of him sometimes. And besides, when the last time he had an incident? Like 15 Pacman Jones arrests ago (ie last Tuesday).

And I do kinda think he can be a long term fixture. They could decline Abreu’s option and play Milton everyday in right, and save about $10M.

    Sign him up.

  6. Mike K says:

Normally I’m in favor of bringing in any maladjusted player in but in Bradley’s case, he may in fact kill Jason Giambi as I remember a story where Bradley hated Giambi so much for what he perceived as being to aggressive with a tag, that, he tape a Giambi baseball card to his locker to infuriate and inspire him.

    Mike K

    Jason who?

  8. Stuart says:

signing him would be a good idea.. it is cheap and the upside is good.

no risk especially if they wait till he clears waivers.,…..

  9. Luddy Bazcej says:

I think the A’s will wind up dealing him before letting him go for nothing. What would they expect back?

I wouldn’t mind him on the team.

  10. Joseph M says:

Why are the A’s looking to unload him? He’s had problems in the past and I like the idea of the team sticking with Melky for awhile to see what we have.

  11. [...] also hope to add Milton Bradley to that lineup. Maybe DHing some games would keep him [...]
