Pettitte named Clutch Player of the Month

In August, Andy Pettitte went 6-0 with a 2.36 ERA. With those six victories, he became the first pitcher this year to win six games in one month, and for his efforts, he took home the Clutch Player of the Month Award. Pettitte’s been a great pickup for the Yanks this year, and I can only wonder how 2004-2006 would have ended had Pettitte been in Yankee pinstripes then.

tough to say b/c in 2004, he missed most of the second half of the season with a bad elbow. he claims he hurt it by swinging a bat, but at the same time, the elbow was indeed one of the reasons the Yankees hesitated to resign him.

since Hughes was the compensation pick for Pettitte it’s a tough call as to whether or not you would take back what happened.

i would take it back if it would have prevented 2004, but if Pettitte would have been on the DL in October of 2004 anyway, it becomes a tougher call.

Well we let Pettitte go but we did pick up Pavano somewhere back there, I mean look at how well that turned out.
