IPK vs Niemann … love it. Two pitchers that couldn’t be any more different.

Every time I hear “Generation Trey,” I die a little inside. I hope Joel Sherman gets hit by a bus for making that up.

    • LiveFromNewYork

and the announcers are saying it so much you assume they’re supposed to be saying it. Like product placement.

    • Ivan

I agree, everytime I hear Generation Trey, it’s like one of those inside jokes to fuck with Hughes, Joba and Ian. So that way when they do fuck up they will be called generation trey.

Personally it’s a dis towards the big three, besides generation trey is corny name anyway.

  • LiveFromNewYork

    I love this Gardner kid.

    • Yankee Fan in Chicago

Yeah, and so does Girardi. I have to say, from what I’ve seen his hasn’t looked bad. His speed will get him more than a few doubles on his slap hits. He’s looked okay in both cf and left, and tho his arm is a bit noodly, he’s still managed to throw out a few guys.

Wouldn’t it be hilarious if Gardner made the team and ended up with better numbers than superstar Ellsbury (anyone catch Bill James’ ridiculous projections for Jacoby btw?)?

  • Ben K.

The Yanks are murdering Verlander in the non-televised game right now.

    • Mike A.

Yeah they did, 8 H and 7 ER in 1.1 IP.

Joba gave up a leadoff jack to Granderson.

    • LiveFromNewYork

      Can you say more?

The TB game is 1-0 Tampa Bay HR off Ike who needs to settle down.

  • LiveFromNewYork

Make that 2 homers off Ike. No settling down here.

  • Mike A.

Man, A-Rod picked up right where he left off last year. He’s unbelievable.

    • LiveFromNewYork

yeah he looks good as we would expect.

  • LiveFromNewYork

    Michael Kay…already annoying me.

    • Mike A.

Yeah, he’s in midseason form already – talking like a know-it-all while being the master of the predetermined outcome.

The best announcers are the ones that just shut the hell up, call the game, and let the analyst analyze.

  • Joe

I know i am a little late to the party, but I finally got to see the Shelly Duncan slide, talk about exageration and by the way, is that Melky Cabrera hitting .440 on the spring? Were in the process of thawing out Ted Williams head for comment, Ted may feel a bit threatened

  • Malcard89

Anyone else think Kennedy will be very homer-prone if he can’t get his fastball down? Are his groundball rates good btw?

Niemann is SICK when he’s on, this is the first time i’ve ever seen him.

    • LiveFromNewYork

I hope not. I hope he’s going to be like a Pettitte or a young Moose where he can rise to the occasion with runners on base. Andy always seems to do better once he gives up a few hits. While Moose has been melting down the past couple of years when it starts to get away from him he was very disciplined in those trouble situations once upon a time.

    • Mike A.

Everybody is homer-prone if they can’t get their fastball down. ML hitters will kill high fastballs if a guy keeps going to it, even if he throws 98.

  • Jamal G.

WTF happened to A-Rod on that, why’d he go for home? Or did he just let up a bit too early?

  • Jeteupthemiddle

    I’m shamelessly plugging.

I’m doing some community projections for the 2008 Yankees, and am welcoming anyone who would like to help out in predicting Pettitte’s 2008 season, you can do it at my blog (name’s the link).

    Thanks. :)

Back to the regularly scheduled game thread.

  • Jamal G.

More ground outs by LaTroy Hawkins, nice to see.

  • Mike A.

Now that was impressive. It takes some kind of special ability to walk BJ Upton on 4 pitches like Hawkins just did.

    • Ivan

BJ Upton does have above average plate disipline despite the k’s.

  • LiveFromNewYork

    Iggy sucking early.

  • LiveFromNewYork

Oh how Iggy sucks. Let me count the ways.

  • LiveFromNewYork

    Girardi looked frustrated/disgusted.

  • Ivan

Kyle Farnsworth just pitch back to back innings successfully.

  • Jamal G.

Hey MAC 5 is up for his 2nd spring AB, but grounds out :(

  • Mike A.

    Word! (ekemper)

  • Mike D

Would have much rather seen the Tiger game than the Rays game. I gather the Yankees only show home games in ST?

  • Jamal G.

    i believe so.

    Good Day

Just wanted to share my new experience.

If your Windows XP denies to start due to an error corresponding to lost HAL.DLL, invalid Boot.ini or any other critical system boot files you can repair this by using the XP installation CD. Just boot from your XP Setup CD and enter the Recovery Console. Then launch “attrib -H -R -S” on the C:\Boot.ini file and delete it. Launch “Bootcfg /Rebuild” and then Fixboot
