Game 11: Have you seen my laptop?

By

Lock your laptops, folks. Clay Buchholz, he of the stolen laptops (and, yes, a Major League no-hitter), is making his first start against the Yankees tonight. Buchholz had a bad Spring Training and lost his first start of the season.

The Yankees, meanwhile, are countering with their ace. Chien-Ming Wang has looked exceptional this year so far. In two starts covering 13 innings, Wang is 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA. He’s given up 10 hits while walking four and, encouragingly, striking out eight. He’s keeping the ball low and keeping runners off base.

Tonight, though, will be a challenge for Wang. He’s facing a Red Sox team that has, by and large, hit him well over the last few seasons. David Ortiz, currently mired in a 3 for 36 drought to start the season, is 15 for 30 against Wang; Manny Ramirez is 13 for 22; and Kevin Youkilis is 7 for 21. As a team, the Sox hit Wang at a .300/.394/.442 clip and six of the 30 career HRs allowed by the sinkerball specialist have come off the bats of the Red Sox.

The Yankees go with something of a different lineup tonight. Johnny Damon is getting the night off, and the hot-hitting Melky Cabrera will lead off. The game, weather permitting, starts at 7:05 p.m., and we get to experience the drama of a Yankees-Red Sox three-game set all over again.

wasnt jeter supposed to play today?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Ben K.

Not really. Very optimistically he could have played today, but because of the cold and weather, the Yanks are holding him out. He probably won’t play until Tampa, and even then I’m guessing he’ll DH while Posada moves back behind the plate.

      • Manimal

It is NOT cold here. I just played basketball.

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Ben K.

Game time temp is 47 degrees. That’s cold enough to have Jeter sit this one out. I have no problem with that now.

  • Ivan

Very interesting how the Yanks go against Buchholz.

  • dan

I think we all know that Bill James came to the Red Sox solely for the free laptops… why else would Buchholz be on that team?

  • Manimal

    Giambi 8th!??! Smart move.

I REALLY dont like Cano Killing rallies before Abreu and Arod batting.

  • doty

great opportunity for robby to get out of his slump.

  • zack

Anyone else surprised to see Coco as opposed to Jacoby with a GB pitcher? Shouldnt Jacoby the super-speedy excel against such a pitcher?

  • Manimal

LETS GO YANKS, I need something to brag about to my friends on Monday LOL.

Ditto for Chocolate M&M’s commercial. “I’M JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!!!!”

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

It’s funny how so much attention is paid to the character of athletes these days by the media and if I am not mistaken Sports Illustrated has been the only major national media outlet to report on Clay Buchholz’s actions in college.

I finally get to see that changeup in person with Clay Buhholz and I’ve been eager for awhile now. They say he’s quick to the plate so let’s see how the Yankees execute their running game on a guy who excels on his changeup and curveball.

Oh and what about Jacoby Ellsbury, TEH GREATEST PROSPECT EVA!!11!!1!!!!!!!111

    I hate you Boston.

    • Manimal

Oh and what about Jacoby Ellsbury MELKY, TEH GREATEST PROSPECT EVA!!11!!1!!!!!!!111

      • Manimal

strike-out(the HTML one) doesnt work? fail.

  • jason

Lots of people here in Boston upset thet Coco is playing. Speculation is that the Sox are showcasing Crisp for a trade. The management claims that crisp is a good fastball hitter. More likely Ellsbury plays the next couple of days.

    • Manimal

Your from MA? SAME! Worcester Area.

      • LiveFromNewYork

        Isn’t it Wista? Wicked retahded.

  • Manimal

BTW, just started raining where I live.

  • Manimal

NOOOOOOOOO YES is blacked out and Im stuck with NESN.

    • BigBlueAL

even though i am obviously a Yankees fan, i actually enjoy the NESN broadcast, even though i obviously would rather watch YES. but since i live in Miami and watch thru the MLB package, i too am stuck with NESN tonight…

      • Manimal

do you have Direct TV, try 622.

      • BigBlueAL

nah, i got Comcast Digital Cable, only have the package not the actual channels as well. so whatever broadcast they show (usually the home team’s) im stuck with.

        • Manimal

aw that stinks, direct tv has both home and away feed.

          • BigBlueAL

actually, i dont mind cause i get to watch the different teams broadcasts which is at times kinda cool. and since ive lived in Miami since 1990, i am used to watchin Yankees games w/o Yankees broadcasters. heck, i remember Scooter and Bill White as a kid when i lived in NY, anytime a Yankees player hit a HR, it was Scooter sayin, “Hey Don Mattingly (for example), this Bud’s for you!!!!” Classic.

    • http://myspace.com/lincolnsworld Link

yeah this NESN may have me homicidal by the end of the night…

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Do you know why the Yanks have had so many rain/weather issues this year? It’s the baseball gods telling them not to fuck with the Stadium.

  • zack

NOTE: Laptop Thief “only” throws his FB at 91, so he clearly cannot be legit…

  • mustang

Here we go…….. I hate these guys….Red Sox and Cowboys if they lost the rest of my life I would die a happy man. LOL

  • mustang

American’s Team and Red Sox Nation what a bunch of crap…..LOl

  • BigBlueAL

    what a shocker, a 1-2-3 inning.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

At least they didn’t swing at the first pitch.

      • Manimal

AND Abreu gave that ball a ride.

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Yeah, how can you not love that opening AB by Melky Cabrera.

LOL Speaking of swinging at the fist pitch(cough pedroia)

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Coco’s got the Bo Derek hairstyle goin’ on.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

LoL, YES just owned that Guisseppe Franco commercial.

  • mustang

Wang got out of the first easily. Thats always a good sign.
What with the rain again ?

    • dan

The rain is due to the curse of the yankees, it will follow them for years to come… don’t you read the ny post?

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

What are the odds that Kevin Youkilis has molested Clay Buchholz?

    • LiveFromNewYork

Excuse me, I have to go shampoo my brain now and try to remove that image.

    • Whitey14

Probably about the same as that greasy giambi pissing on guys legs in the gang showers when they’re not looking….He reminds me of Gorman Thomas and I’m pretty certain he used to do that…

  • Manimal

Remy just asked if Matsui married a real person or a picture…

  • BigBlueAL

    No-Hit this!!!!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Did Kay just say that Coco threw a 4 hopper to Pedroia?

    • Kevin23

lol…ah yes, the ole 4 hopper. I love Kay, bu God help us all if someone is a triple away from the cycle tonight.

  • Manimal

Bucholz acted like a dog fake dieing on that line drive…

    • LiveFromNewYork

      A dog playing dead?

      • Manimal

        yeah I said it LOL

  • LiveFromNewYork

I miss when he wasn’t anywhere near the game. The good thing about the KC series.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

OMG COCO IS TEH BEST CF EVAH!!1!!1!

  • BigBlueAL

im in total shock, Giambi didnt come thru……

  • BigBlueAL

HOLY SHIT!!! CC Sabathia losin 6-0 in the 2nd inning to the freakin A’s!!!!!

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Good, maybe he’ll save us $50-75M next offseason.

      • BigBlueAL

and pitch like Barry Zito after we sign him……

  • Manimal

    He drilled that too.

The runs will come, we are hitting the crap out of the ball.

  • mustang

No I don’t read NY post I lost enough brain cells drinking in college.. LOL

    • Manimal

      ?

      Wrong place?

  • Manimal

    95 mph heat from wang.

    DAYUM.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

CMW just blew a fastball by Manny. Don’t see that every day.

    • Manimal

Oh we will see it again in the 8th inning thanks to Joba.

  • Chip

K of Ortiz, K of Manny. I’m loving it

    • Manimal

Ba ba ba ba baaaa Im Lovin it.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Not one groundout but Wang is just toying with Mofos tonight.

    • Manimal

      scratch that…

  • BigBlueAL

its sad when Giambi is in the lineup for his glove…….

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Come on man, he did hit the ball pretty well his frst time up.

      • BigBlueAL

for 21 million this season, he better hit the ball hard ALL THE TIME!!!! its just that Giambi is the symbol for all the stupid FA signings the Yanks have made since the 2001 off-season, and even though i like him, i cant stand that he is still our best option at 1B..

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Check out the Big G at first.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I know it’s been only 2 starts + 2 innings so far, but CMW has looked really, really good this year. He’s at his peak performance age, so it makes sense.

  • CB

I wonder if Manny was guessing slider on that strike out. Him swinging through one of Wang’s fastballs does not seem like a high probability event.

Wang is mixing his pitches very well this season.

    • RollignWave

I think Manny was cheating for the 2-seamer but Wang went with a ole 4-seam and made him look silly. i always wondered why Wang doesn’t mix his FB up more

  • mustang

Actually don’t like the fact that he hasn’t had a ground-ball, but man he looks good. He is hitting spots like a machine. Can we please score !!!!!!

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Hey, who were the guys who won the MLB 08: The SHOW Contest?

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

It’s not over yet. They still need a SB and a Blown Save. Once those two things happen, we’ll let you know.

      • BigBlueAL

btw, i have that game for PS3, its FUCKIN AWESOME!!!!

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Word up. Yovani Gallardo is not fair in that game.

          • BigBlueAL

i actually dominate people online with Moose. i get ripped with Wang everytime, but Moose dominates all the time!!!! plus once i bring in Joba, its over.

            • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Wang’s tough, I hate facing him online. Those sinkers are just grenades.

  • mustang

At this rate this game will be done before have to go to work. Both offensive look like shit.

    • BigBlueAL

which isnt a good sign since we face Beckett and Dice-K next 2 games (even though we hit Dice-K everytime last season, but with the way our offense has been this season, u cant compare what we did to him last season to what we might do to him on Sunday)

      • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Except for one night in October 2003, we’ve hit Beckett too.

        • BigBlueAL

oh yeah, we killed him in 2006, and beat him once last season, but im just sayin with the way we r swinging the bats so far, and with the weather, its not lookin good next 2 games.

    • LiveFromNewYork

they said the sox and yanks were looking pretty evenly shitty coming into this game. Hence, the same record. They won’t go out of this series with the same record but they will probably even up again and again. And it’s not that they’re blazing a trail through the AL East. It’s because they are both sucking bigtime. For who they are anyway.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

That commercial gets me every time.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I’ve seen it a million times before, but I never really paid attention to it. Hilarious.

  • LiveFromNewYork

Give CMW his Cy Young NOW. He’s saying arbitrate this.

    • BigBlueAL

      LOL

  • BigBlueAL

this inning is our inning comin up!!!!

    • BigBlueAL

      nevermind

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Give Lugo one of those crazy evil looking mustaches, and he’d look just like Waluigi.

  • mustang

I got my ground-balls. Now I need runs and tonight’s lotto numbers. LOL

  • LiveFromNewYork

bucholz should be called opie. He’s like 12.

  • mustang

    Wanted:
    Second baseman that can hit.
    Name: Cano
If found please return to the New York Yankees

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

When was the last time we had a Yankees-Red Sox pitcher’s duel?

    • BigBlueAL

      Moose-Cone in 2001

  • BigBlueAL

let me start some controversy, Phil Hughes BETTER look as good as Buchholz has so far on Sunday…

  • mustang

These guys must have reservations at the Top of the Hub… LOl

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

That certainly could not have felt good for Coco. Big heavy fastball in on the hands…

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Thanks for the first pitch GIDP Ortiz. Much appreciated.

  • kris

    nice going arod.

  • mustang

Hit or error ? No Yankee bias please ? LOL

  • Kevin23

    hit

  • Jeff

Buchholz throwing low 90′s like Hughes!!?? (sarcasm)

    Changing speeds is the game….

  • Chofo

    I say hit

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Great pitch by Buchh (I so totally called chaneup, yay me).

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

    JOSE!!!

  • mustang

    I said hit too

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    Molina can fucking rake.

  • Kevin23

Jose is really hitting well this year.

  • mustang

I know i’m hard on Cashman, but Molina was a GREAT pick up.

  • Mike R.

    .320 baby! .320!!!!!!!!

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Buchholz for the second start this year has kind of lost it in the middle innings. Mike, was there any stamina issues with him coming up through the minors or can we atrribute this to lack of arm strength in April?

  • dan

which is the hilarious commercial you guys are referring to?

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I read John Farrell’s lips during that mound visit just now, he said “if you don’t give me my fucking laptop back, I’m calling the cops.”

    • E-ROC

John Walsh is urging the citizens of America to phone in, if they see Farrell’s laptop.

  • Kevin23

If not for Robby being out of position a few times, Molina would be lights out throwing this year too. Crazy good for a back-up.

  • LiveFromNewYork

    Rain. There’s a surprise.

  • ansky

    way to plate those runs!!

  • mustang

    SHIT !!!!!!!!

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Erg, the Former Attorney General made a rookie mistake right there.

  • RichYF

2001-2005: “His bat carries his defensive inabilities.”
2006+: “He’s an excellent receiver. He calls a great game. He is such a clubhouse presence.”

  • mustang

That a little hard Mike A. that was hard to read don’t you think.

  • Manimal

    Wang is DEALING.

BTW, if wang gets a ** ******(Dont want to jynx it) Watch ESPN bitch at how Arod’s error was a hit.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

No offense, but shut the eff up. You’re toeing the line. You know what I’m talkin’ about.

      • RichYF

Lol, Mike, why you so pisst?

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I did come off as pissed, huh? I didn’t mean it like that, honest.

          • RichYF

Haha, yeah, I scrolled up to see wtf he did. I was like, “damn this guy’s about to give him the boot!”

Reading it again, I assume you were telling him to shush about the no-no, but it seemed much worse the first time through..

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Oh come on Bobby. I coulda caught that.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    Could have had that Bobby.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

WTF is with all the long flies that inning?

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    Dammit Manimal. :)

  • ansky

i guess it was too much to ask of Bobby to make 3 catches in one inning. That was close to the easiest of them all.

  • dan

Okay what the hell is up with these fly balls?

  • mustang

That’s Bobby he good for a few of those a year. Brain cramp !!!!

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Maybe he’s featuring the four seam a bit more than usual.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Heh, nice play by Timlin in the pen on the homer. He’s almost as good with the glove as Manny.

  • Mike P

Man! Wang was two slick plays off being perfect through 5…
    Talk about fine margins.
(Closest Abreu’ll make to the wall all year)

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

87 mph cheese by Buchholz right there.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Heh, A-Rod just said he didn’t get a chance to play with Bobby Murcer much.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Good pitch finally going to a FB 1-0 after all those CB.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Seriously, if you’re one of the people worried about Hughes’ velocity, check out the gun readings on Buchholz tonight.

  • mustang

nice Mike A thanks for the answer.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    Buchholz you dumb ass.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Did Buchholz really think he could get away with 3 curves in one at-bat against A-Rod?

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Come on, first SB of the season here.

  • ansky

Hideki has been all over Clay tonight. Certainly has his number

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Yeah, but Clay probably has his laptop. Still advantage Matsui, I say.

      • ansky

well thats what i meant naturally is that there was some sort of vendetta involved.

and the avg with risp goes down for the Yanks yet again

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Are the people (yanks fans included) who talked shit about Matsui all off-season about him being washed up (even though he recorded yet another 100 RBI season) finally shutting up?

  • Kevin23

yet ANOTHER ground ball to second base.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

So let’s see what we can do against this bullpen. We touched up Okajima towards the end of last year and Paps hasn’t been perfect against us either so hopefully we can get something going here.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

I know his means nothing but it is kind of nice that every time there’s a camera on Joe Girardi, Dave Eiland, Rob Thompson, and Kevin Long they’re usually standing and right behind the dugout fence.

    • Mike R.

Joe Girardi seems tense. He should try some Bigelow Green Tea.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

57 pitches through 6 for Wang. He could probably go 10 tonight if needed.

  • Manimal

Deciding factors for the rest of the game:

    * To Joba or not to Joba, he pitched 2 innings yesturday and you might need him more tomorrow.
    *Traber vs Ortiz
    *Yanks vs Sox Pen.

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Wasn’t it an 1.1? He did throw 24 pitches though.

      • Manimal

More or less 2 innings LOL.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Last year when Wang was flirting with that no-no at Yankees Stadium during the 3-game sweep of BOS in August, how far did he take it? Was it in the 7th when he lost it, or the 6th?

  • Mike R.

I miss Shelley. This Red Stripe is for you buddy.

    • Mike R.

      That helped.

  • Manimal

Pray that Wang goes consistant untill the 9th when Mariano K’s everyone.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Shows you how inconsistent the inside corner has been, Giambi even had to look back to see if that was a called strike.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    BIG G, yessir.

  • Manimal

Giambi!!!! That was NOT a cheap Yankee stadium homerun.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    Six Doubles!

  • jaffa

wow, not even to right field.

  • http://myspace.com/lincolnsworld Link

Jorge should be nervous lol…his spot might get taken…

  • RichYF

Are the people (yanks fans included) who talked shit about Giambi all off-season about him being washed up (even though he recorded yet another…excellent? season) finally shutting up?

    • Manimal

Im taking out my anger on him because his massive contract may have costed the yankees Johan Santana.

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

theres a lot of “are the people who talked shit about(insert name here)” going on here tonight. What am i missing?

      • RichYF

I copied and pasted Jamal G.’s post and changed the name. I thought it was hilarious at the time. the “excellent?” was there because big G obviously didn’t have 100rbi. He didn’t have any good stats, so I just tried to play it off.

        WHATEVER I HATE YOU

        • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

          gotcha

  • Manimal

    MOLINA adding to the fire.

    This is the inning.

    This is it.

    The inning when we EXPLODE.

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

You sound like a Mets slogan writer, LoL.

      • Manimal

LOL, those Metropolitans copying my slogans.

  • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

    “too high”…that was a shot

even if its just fr the nigh i want to give him the name Touch-Em-All Timlin

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Obvious bunt here, come on Gonzo, lay it down.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Jose Molina leads the AL in doubles.

  • Manimal

Melky redeem yourself. Thats an ORDER Comrade!

    • Manimal

      Ill take it.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Nice job by Melk. Gettin’ the job done with the sac fly. Assist to Alberto.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Loving this game, Wang doing his thing even though he has a high fly ball total and the situational hitting has been better.

    • Manimal

      I agree.

  • Manimal

Wang needs to be efficient and effective for us to pass the torch to Rivera.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Yeah, getting Joba the day off would be huge.

      • Manimal

The whole bullpen needs a day off.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

This is odd, I’m used to 5 hour marathon games between these two teams. I love it.

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

You know it’s been like that for the most part this season, kind of refreshing no?

    • Manimal

I KNOW right! I might have to find something to do after…

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Robinson Cano is my favorite player on the Yankees so it really sucks to see him in this mini-funk but I have no doubt this is nothing to worry about.

    • Manimal

I am a Cano fan too, he just seems uncomfortable at the plate and takes weak hacks at good pitches and good hacks at weak pitches.

      • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

ditto, more than getting pissed and name calling, im just disappointed with Robbie

        • Manimal

My dad has been FLIPPING out with cano, he hates weak mental baseball hes a disciplined player kind of guy

  • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

ah, i missed those obligatory Yankees Suck chants so much all winter.

    • Manimal

I get enough of it at school.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

God damn does A-Rod have an arm. I don’t think people appreciate the skill he just displayed there, straight line throw from the 3B bag.

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

i sure do appreciate it. He’s made quite a number of those lately and it never ceases to amaze me.

    • Manimal

From Foul Territory it was a strike. He is an amazing athlete, any sport he could kick anyones ass.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

    David Ortiz looks like shit.

    • Manimal

      are you racist Mike?

LOL totally kidding. When J.D Drew has 6x your batting average your doing shitty.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I believe the term is “dealing.”

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Straight owning bitches tonight, I’m loving the non-ace BS people spewed about Chien-Ming Wang.

BTW is the Chien pronouced in Taiwanese Shh-yen, Chin, or Chen?

    • KW

actually it’s Jian, or Jeee-an spoken really fast

  • Chip

And Manny goes down with the slider

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

If Francona leaves Lopez in to face A-Rod … oh man, he might hit one across the Mass Pike.

    • Manimal

NO WAY, Getting my Glove and sticking my head through my dads car’s sunroof.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

Not exactly the Mass-Pike but I’ll take it. :)

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

In my defense, i said “might.” Heh.

      • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

LoL, I was expecting the same ish so I’m just being an ass. ;)

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

I want a SB here. LH hitter up and Javy Lopez is not quick to the plate nor does he throw anything 90+ MPH.

    • Manimal

      Posada almost killed the Ump.

  • Manimal

    Come on giambino!

  • Manimal

Remy just called yankee stadium the Shrine of Baseball.

    Thats some epic stuff.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Oh my goodness the bases are loaded for Molina. Hava Molina!!!

  • Manimal

Molina is such a threat ahhahahaha

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

So I guess the Japan trip means dick. The good teams won and the bad teams didn’t as if it was any other year.

  • Chip

I’m surprised they didn’t bring in Paps to face the league leader in doubles here :D

  • Mike R.

How about a trademark molina double here? please…

    • Chip

      I’d take a single

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Shout out to my boy David Aardsma, showin’ some love for a fellow Penn Stater, even if he was only there for a year.

    • dan

I can see you being the only person in the stadium, going nuts chanting “we are! penn state!” and everyone around you gets up and goes to a different section.

  • Manimal

    Molina is a warrior.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

    Haha. This is awesome.

    • Manimal

Seriously, 3 hour game, wang making the 2007 champions embarrassed, 8 hits.

  • Manimal

David Aardsma(man, his name must have been first alphabetically for EVERYTHING) attempted a joba-esque fist pump but it didn’t work at ALL.

  • Chip

O well, can’t get em all. I like how we’re wearing down the Sox pen though

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

He’s been using the slider throughout the game, just hasn’t been nowhere near as effective as his previous start vs. the Rays.

  • Manimal

    NOOOOOOOOOO,

Justin Louis Chamberlain you put that ball down RIGHT NOW.

  • RichYF

Is Joba warming up? I thought I heard that…If so…Why?!

    • Manimal

      Lets have a vote.

Should CMW pitch a Complete game with 79 pitch through 8.0 IP ?

      • Manimal

Shit didnt mean to make this a reply

  • Chip

I like Wang mixing in the slider the third time through the order

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

    Cy Wang.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

I hope I don’t see Mariano Rivera, this is beautiful right here.

  • Mike R.

I think the question on everyone’s mind is “Should we start Wang tomorrow?” Looks like he is going to get through this game in under 100 pitches.

  • CB

I’ve always liked Wang but always thought he was a step below the Halladay and Webb level.

This season and particularly tonight he throwing a game that is Roy Halladay at his best.

  • Manimal

    Lets have a vote.

Should CMW pitch a Complete game with 79 pitch through 8.0 IP ?

    I think he should.

    • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

definitely let him get the CG

      btw, who needs Jete?
      j/k

  • Manimal

  • Manimal

  • Manimal

Wow, is this thread a new record for comments? check how many the first game of this season had.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Yeah it’s record. Impressive since there’s like, 3 of us here. We need to get out more.

      • Manimal

LOL I need someone to talk baseball too with my brother at a friends house. I love it here, it isnt cheap like MLB chat and it isnt vulgar like Nomaas.

      • http://www.pinstripesplus.com ansky

bah, i skipped the riverdogs game tonight so where else would i be?

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Nice hustle Bobby. That was big.

    • Manimal

      Huge.

He put the Nail near the coffin, Arod needs to “hammer” it in. Pun completely intended.

  • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

According to Kay, the Yanks “have been out stolen based 14-0 this year.” Out stolen based? Hehe.

    • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

      That gave me a headache.

    • Manimal

How many CG did the Yankees Total last year?

  • http://sw-balcony.blogspot.com Back Bay Yankee

Dude, Melky, Molina, the Attorney General — it’s kind of awesome.

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

Screw that, how in the world is Drew’s homer the play of the game?

  • Chip

I hope that nobody is warming in the pen, this is Wang’s game

    • Manimal

      Mariano is as a precaution.

  • Manimal

    1 down. 2 to go.

    • Manimal

2 down. but crisp laid down a beautiful bunt.

  • RichYF

  • http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=56352514 Jamal G.

So the two teams that lit up Wang last year have scored a combined 3 ER in 16 innings of him this year.

    Cy…

  • Manimal

Pettite gave wang a hug. What a champ.

  • McLovin

Thats how you do it smalls

  • Mike R.

I can see the headlines now. “Like Dirk Diggler Wang comes up big.”

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

I prefer “Yanks beat Sox with their Wang.”

      • Mike R.

Ok…How about “Yankees’ Wang to big for Sox”?

        • http://www.riveraveblues.com Mike A.

“Yanks’ Wang a handful for Sox”

      • Whitey14

Dynamite drop in Mike! They don’t call you the best color man in the league for nuthin’!

Even us Red Sox fans were impressed with chin my wang tonight. He was dealing for sure. The Sox should be embarrased that they couldn’t muster more than one fuckin’ hit off him. Oh well, maybe they can get two hits off him next week.

Buchholz’s velocity might have been down tonight, but overall his control was much better than his last time out. He and Phil still have some growing pains to go through and some learning about pitching to do, but my guess is in a couple of years they’ll both be certified aces.

I’m very dissapointed the Sox didn’t get into the yanks pen tonight, that will almost certainly pay negative dividends over the next two days if their bats don’t wake up.

Congrats on winning game one, they earned it.

  • dan

    “Wang Makes Sox Swallow Hard”

    • Mike R.

      Ouch! I think you win.
