Get well soon Mr. Chamberlain, hopefully we’ll be seeing you in the Bronx soon watching your son strike out batter after batter!

  • Manimal

No! Terrible news, I wish Harlan, Joba, and all other friends and family well.

  • yankeemonkey

I add my prayers to everyone else’s.

Also, that might explain why Joba didn’t pitch last night – Girardi might’ve known about what happened, Daily News article said Joba first got the call in the 4th inning.

Also also, did anyone read Abraham’s comment on the Chamberlain situation? He’s incensed that Girardi didn’t make a public announcement immediately. That’s a little ridiculous, isn’t it?

When a reporter or a blogger or a fan needs to know something like this immediately, then maybe personal privacy needs to be defined for them.

Joba is only 21? Man that’s a lot to deal with at a young age. Give these people some room. Girardi just scored a lot of points in the clubhouse keeping this “in the family”.

I saw that too and had the same reaction. Pete was probably angry he was scooped. I think Girardi did the right thing by respecting the family’s privacy while Joba was trying to get home.

      Abraham needs to grow up.

Wishing all the best to Harlen. He seems like a good guy through and through. May he recover quickly.

This is so incredibly sad. I really like Harlan a lot. You can see why Joba is the way he is.

I really, really hope he gets better. Sometimes life is just sooooo unfair. :-(

Get well soon, Mr. Harlan Chamberlain.

  • YK

Best wishes for Harlan and his family.

I watched the episode of Yesterdays with Harlan and Joba and it was very inspiring and touching to see the closeness between father and son. My prayers go out to the family.

My thoughts are with you Chamberlain family.

  • Yankeewitch

Lets respect Joba and his family’s privacy. Our prayers are with Harlan and Joba know we are here pulling for him.

Joe Girardi did not make this information public last night despite knowing about it. While Harlan Chamberlain’s medical condition is certainly a private matter, a player leaving the team is not. It would have been appropriate to inform fans that Chamberlain had left the team for family reasons and leave it at that.

He wanted the other direction…he didn’t want Joe to say anything at all…just that it was a family matter…..

    Get well soon Harlan…

Get well Quick! does joba have a mother?

  • Chris

Joba’s parents split up when Joba was very young and Harlan raised Joba and his sister alone. To my knowledge the mom has not been in the picture at all. My thoughts and prayers are with Harlan, Joba, and his sister.
