Talking with Tyler

By Benjamin Kabak

In their continuing series of interviews with Yankee bloggers, the folks at YanksBlog.com sat down with Tyler Kepner, one of our favorite beat writers. Kepner talks about his long-time fandom, the limitations of blogging under The Times’ editorial structure and that ever-controversial 8th inning bullpen spot.

I know I tend to make comments that sometimes don’t have anything to do with the post, but did anyone see “Yesterdays” last night? I thought Cashman wanted to do whatever he could to keep Joba grounded? Someone should’ve told that to Michael Kay.

Mike A. says:

Yeah I saw it. My favorite part was when he basically admitted to throwing at Youkilis on purpose.

Jamal G. says:

I missed it, what did he say?

Anyone else surprised that Kepner chose Jorge Posada to have up in one at-bat over any other Yankee?

Mike A. says:

Something to the effect of “I had to make them uncomfortable, so that they know they can’t just hang out over the plate against me.”

With the exception of Was Watching (Tyler should be reading RLYW), I have to admit Tyler’s reading the right Yankee blogs, which sure is a positive thing, considering he’s a beat writer…..
