Game 136: A four-day Halladay

By Benjamin Kabak

Posted by mobile phone:
Roy Halladay is going for his fourth win of the year against the Yanks. Andy Pettitte will try to stop him and ensure a .500 August for the Yanks. He also has to pitch better than he did last week against the Red Sox.

Damon CF
Jeter SS
Abreu RF
Rodriguez 3B
Giambi 1B
Nady LF
Matsui DH
Cano 2B

maybe everyone went to the beach…

Slugger27 says:

3 run deficit 6 minutes into the game?

damnit girardi get ur act together!

Steve says:

Good. I gave up after the Red Sox series. Now I want them to deal Pavano by tonight’s deadline and bring up the kids. This may be the final nail in the Yankee coffin for the front office.

4-0. Scott Rolen HR. Halladay pitching, game over.

Bill N says:

Great start to this one

Slugger27 says:

at least we picked a good day to give up 3 in the 1st inning… halladay always gets shelled

Steve says:

So how about them Giants?

Boy, that defensive line really took a hit this year, huh?

Slugger27 says:

whats a good movie i can go rent? any good horror flicks anyone know of?

YES has a pretty good horror flick on right now…

Slugger27 says:

that one is wayyyyy too scary. im trying to avoid nightmares here

dkidd says:

john carpenter’s “the thing” is my favorite horror movie

dkidd says:

“the descent” is scary as hell

Slugger27 says:

ive heard of the descent…. never heard of the thing… premise?

dkidd says:

kurt russell stars. bunch of scientists on the north pole uncover an alien that can shift into any form, so everyone’s a suspect. the gore effects are amazing considering it was made in 1982

highest recommendation

Slugger27 says:

Slugger27 says:

i have this one… im a horror buff so i got most of the classics, great flick indeed

CTYankee says:

The Audition is great if you can find it. Japanese and very creepy

dkidd says:

make sure you get it widescreen!

E-ROC says:

Molina sure does call a better game than Rodriguez, which is why Pettitte did not want I-Rod to catch’em. That would explain Pettitte’s effectiveness in his last couple of starts.

It’s only the 3rd inning. There is a lot of game left. Umm….have hope?! :(

BigBlueAL says:

WOW if this isnt an indication of how this season is going nothing else is, there is literally nobody commenting today!!!!

Slugger27 says:

aside from horror flicks, what is there to say?

BigBlueAL says:

But the Yankees arent mathematically eliminated yet, there is still hope!!!!

dkidd says:

i’d love to see a thread where people weigh in on what the yanks should do with this free month

Slugger27 says:

make kennedy’s ass pitch

Joseph P. says:

Him, Hughes, Aceves. Get them innings. It’s not like they can get many more pitching in the minors.

There’s no reason to let Pavano, Rasner, and Ponson continue to start games. If they’re throwing in the towel, those are three pieces that probably won’t be around next year. If they’re still holding out hope, well, it’s not like Rasner and Ponson give you a decidedly better chance than the kids.

Slugger27 says:

i agree. i guess i just dont see the point of havin ponson still on the team… he sucks, hes not a long term answer, he doesnt even really eat innings that well, make kennedy pitch….

also, it seems like every time i check the box score scott strickland does really well. hes the AAA close i beleive…. lets see what he can do

E-ROC says:

Clutch’em all, b*tches!

Slugger27 says:

roys losin some gas on his fastball

E-ROC says:

See haters, I’m clutch! says Giambi.

Slugger27 says:

roys not comin out til hes at least at 115 pitches

E-ROC says:

Eckstein’s grittiness was all over that hit. Dammit!!!

Slugger27 says:

aight, gonna go watch a horror flick, catch u guys on the flip side

by the way, this game is totally on girardi :)

E-ROC says:

Girardi might be little late again with his pitching changes.

E-ROC says:

Beating yourselves don’t help you win games, Yankees. Geez…

BigBlueAL says:

September could be real ugly. Wouldnt be surprised to see the Yankees finish in 4th in division and barely finish above .500 for the season. When a veteran team that had big-time expectations plays out the string in September, it sometimes gets real ugly….

Hitman says:

It’s time to push that payroll to 300 million. How embarrassing that the Rays are doing what they’re doing on Arod’s salary for this season. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!

Kyle D. says:

43 million a year for the Rays.

Joey H says:

ha who was the asshole on here who was jumping allover me cause he was certain that pettite would be spectacular after the ASB? how do u like me NOWW

BigBlueAL says:

I dont think he is totally healthy for whatever that is worth.

Kyle D. says:

Then he shouldn’t be pitching.

E-ROC says:

See what happens when you attack the strike zone, Veras? You get outs.

Kyle D. says:

Bring back Moose next year, say goodbye to Pettitte.

Kyle D. says:

7-pitch inning for Halladay. Greeeeeeeeeeat job guys.

E-ROC says:

So long Ponson and Rasner. Hello Aceves!

Andy In Sunny Daytona Beach says:

Finally, a ray of hope.

bill says:

Well, at least Aceves looked great

bill says:

I’m watching the future investment pitch a 1 hit shutout against the Pirates. 10 K’s, still throwin hard.

bill says:

Sabathia: CG, 1H, 3BB, 11K. The only hit he gave up was a check swing by Andy LaRoche. It couldve been scored an error on CC. 9-0 with the Brewers. Next year will be great.

dkidd says:

ned yost is to cc as

joe torre was to scott proctor

bill says:

He was still throwing 94-96 in the 9th. I understand your concerns though

dkidd says:

less about today than the cumulative effect (130 pitches last week etc)

Hitman says:

Aceves has great stuff. All this time I’ve been hearing his fastball is like 90-91 when in fact it’s 90-94 mph! I’m glad Rasner and Ponson are starting instead of him.

Rich I. says:

Don’t forget, he only threw two innings today, so he probably wasn’t holding anything back. It will be interesting to see if he can throw 90-94 over 6 innings.

Hitman says:

Aceves did not appear to be using maximum effort otherwise all his pitches would have been around 94 mph so yes I think he can maintain that velocity as a starter.
