Rivera to get second opinion

Yanks reveal plans for new Vacation Stadium

PeteAbe‘s got the word. It seems likely that The Hammer of God will need his shoulder scoped to clean out some bone spurs, and the Yanks are just doing their due diligence by getting another doc on the case. Assuming it’s nothing more serious than this, Mo will be ready go to next spring.

Oh, and please stop it Girardi. Giving misleading information about injuries doesn’t make them go away. Grow up and tell the truth like you were taught as a child. [/rant]

Good thing it’s just some bone spurs. I understand any surgery for a 38-year-old thrower is a risk, but it’s not like he has any muscle tearing or labrum fraying going on in there. Getting rid of bone spurs helps avoid tears so good thing this happened in a year we don’t need him for the playoffs.

As for the Girardi stuff, I agree with you Mike. The journalists are there as an extension of the fans. They don’t work for the Yankees, they are hired to report news of the team we pay a lot of money to go see. Lying to those reporters doesn’t make them happy, and it misleads your fan base. The exact fan base that you are counting on pouring A LOT of money into that new Yankee Stadium (we’ll do it no matter what, but I still don’t like him hiding injuries).

Usually, I find it hard to sympathize or even agree with the self-important rants of the media. Far too often, they beg for access only to turn around and write a complete hatchet job article. In this case, however, I can’t disagree. The best way to control a story is to tell the truth and be done with it. Girardi is creating more headaches for himself and the rest of the organization when he behaves this way.

Man, why doesn’t Mo just heal himself and get it over with?

I guess The Good Mo works in mysterious ways…

    • Nady Nation

If he healed himself, then he would render doctors and surgeons utterly useless. He’s just looking out for the livelihoods of us mere mortals. Mo Bless America

our closer, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy mo. thy closing games, they will be done….

Are public school teachers going to get fired for discussing Mo in their classes? :-)

  • Andy In Sunny Daytona

You tell Pete Abe…er Mike A.

  • Lanny

What has Girardi done this year to give anyone confidence he can win a title as a manager?
The bullpen? Well, they finally had some options out there and he diversified roles. But who couldn’t handle a pen with Mo as the finisher?

He hasn’t impressed me one bit especially in games.

    • http://www.riveraveblues.com Ben K.

      Non sequitor FTW.

    • Chris

Who couldn’t handle a pen with Mo as the finisher?

      Torre for one.

People seem to forget that this team will finish about 3 games worse than last season while playing in a far tougher division.

  • JeffG

I just don’t get the criticism of Giardi all the time. He wants to cover up for his player or team because that is their wish and you criticize? His loyalty should be to his players team first, players second, organization third, and media way down the line.
As far as his managing costing us the season – that is just another weak strain of thought coming from the “big three” t-shirt posse who have no critique at all of a GM who started the season with two rookie pitchers who weren’t up to the task and whose back up plan included Sydnee Ponson.

    • Old Ranger

      Thank you JeffG…
Joe G gets the shit even when he is telling the truth. I read (Omaha, paper) that what Joe said was the truth. Mo told Joe, Joe told trainers on up the line…the decision was made to be safe rather then sorry. The news hounds asked him questions after the game, how would he know anything he was running the team on the field.
