BA’s Top 20 Hawaii Winter Baseball Prospects
ByBaseball America released their top 20 prospects list for Hawaii Winter Baseball today, and two Yanks’ farmhands made the cut: Andrew Brackman at #2, and Jeremy Bleich at #8. Brackman was behind Giants’ first rounder Buster Posey, while he & Bleich were two of just three pitchers in the top 13. Austin Romine and Damon Sublett didn’t make the cut. (h/t Reggie C. for the heads up)

Waikiki had 5 of the top 10 and didn’t win it…geez
Check that 6
Didn’t win what , The World Series? Because they won The HWL Title.
how do you say “bust” in Hawaiian?
b’u'st
Another example of Romine flying under the radar. I still think this kid is going to be something special
Yeah. Bleich being so far above him seems odd to me.
Take a look at Manuel’s Yankees prospect ratings. He rated Romine at #4 for his long-term potential, and Bleich higher in the HWB rankings based on his performance in Hawaii. Romine didn’t perform particularly well in Hawaii, and was on the same team as Posey, which showed his lack of polish.
Todd Frazier sighting on that list.
I remember watching the Little League World Series in 1998 and noting to myself, “Remember the name Todd Frazier in ten years.”
20. Tony Cruz, c/3b, Honolulu (Sharks)
Who are the Sharks?
I would pay good money to play ball in Hawaii for the winter. Lucky bastadz.
