Game 36: Andy Returns
ByAfter missing a start with some minor elbow inflammation, Andy Pettitte returns to the bump this afternoon as the Yankees look to pick up yet another win over the Twins at home. Minnesota is sending Francisco Liriano out there as they try to win for just the fourth time in the Bronx during the Ron Gardenhire Era, and all he’s done this year is post a 2.24 FIP with a 50.9% groundball rate (zero homers!) in six starts. He’s completely annihilated lefthanded batters as well (1.64 xFIP), so it might be a tough day for Robbie Cano and Brett Gardner. Here’s the lineup that’ll try to figure him out…
Jeter, SS
Swisher, RF – I guess the bicep is okay
Teixeira, 1B
A-Rod, 3B
Cano, 2B
Posada, DH
Thames, LF
Cervelli, C
Gardner, CF
And on the mound, Andrew Pettitte.
Nothing like a Saturday game under the sun. First pitch will be at 1:05pm ET, and the game can be seen on YES. Enjoy.

good to see posada DHing
According to LoHud, Swisher’s biceps doesn’t hurt swinging right-handed. Does that mean he gets lifted once a righthander comes out of the ‘pen?
Posada and Cervelli in the same lineup… It’s really nice!!
Frankie Cervelli is making his play to be YCOTF.
sorry, gotta spell that one out for me.
Your Catcher of the Future? That was my assumption
probably Yankees Catcher of the Future, but close enough.
Thames in LF is scary. Thames in LF during a sunny day game is terrifying.
So…are we just expecting to not hear anything about Nick Johnson for a weeks? We’ve gotten semi-regular updates about Granderson, but it feels like people aren’t even thinking about Nick’s progress at this point. Can we expect to him be out for THAT long?
A week ago they said he’d be out for at least a few weeks. What kind of update are you looking for? He’s probably sitting around getting treatment, not much to report on that.
From what I gather I would expect both Granderson and Johnson to come back at around the same time; probably around the first week of June.
There’s a Johnson update on Lohud today, actually. Says he got a cortisone shot, and they’re waiting to see how it works before deciding what to do next.
Loving the lineup today.
Obviously the test showed that the bicep is just something that will hurt and not something that can escalate into something worse. Good stuff.
No Nancy Newman, the “M&M boys” did not both contribute to the ALDS, especially as one of them didn’t even friggin’ play.
also, Andy *_*
Ahhh something resembling an A lineup.
Is Cervelli still have rookie status coming into this year?
He probably spent too much time on the 25 man roster last year.
Isn’t it 150 at bats?
After last night, I’m not sure about anything.
After
last nightVolquez got ROY votes, I’m not sure about anything. But I think it’s also like 45 days on a ML roster.
Yep you’re right.
The Cisco Kid, ROY candidate!!!!!!!!
Maybe so, but i doubt he beats edison volquez.
Hoping Liriano’s last start is a sign of a little slump. Hope he’s good and wild today.
Love the velli/sada combo. When CG gets back we will be diesel again
You trying to say Jesus Christ can’t hit a curveball?
/Eddie Harris’d
Is very bad to drink Jobu’s rum. It is VERY bad.
Sigh. A veiled Tebow reference isn’t going to work in the thread above the one mentioning Tebow. I’m a failure.
Pretty play by Guttner.
GGBG is a boss
Brett Gardner continues to slay the non-believers.
What a catch.
Ooooooo he is a saucy momma! That was a great pitch!
SIT DOWN JOSEPH
bex, did you see the batting practice show? They had a whole AP montage.
Yep. It was highly enjoyable.
Mauer: “But I’m an MVP”
Pettitte: “No recollection”
Mauer: “We went to Cabo together?”
Pettitte: “I’m not even allowed in Mexico”
Mauer: Than were did I get this?”
*Mauer takes out pitcher of he and Pettitte fishing in Cabo… while Mauer is distracted Pettitte strikes Mauer out to end the frame.
thats a great commercial – I love that guy
Yep. Also because he made fun of Pedroia the year before… he even know that he wasn’t an MVP.
I… um. You know. I’m not gonna say what I thought when I first read this.
…
I don’t see it (
x 2)
Andy and Joe hanging out in Cabo. I’ll leave it at that.
Ahh…
EWW! Gross!
Actually not gross at all.
Where is everybody today? Not to many RABbies.
wait… did Jeter just get a leadoff hit and the ball didn’t hit the ground til the outfield? WAAAAH??
But it was on the first pitch!!!111 Cmon on JETE take some pitches!
/littleserious
I could’ve sworn Flaherty said the back arm does the work yesterday.
wow. that was some pitch.
They should walk Tex here to pitch to that bum behind him.
/RepeatinTheSameMistake’D
He’s heating up!
He’s
heating up! </strike? Tex again!Dammit!
Yankees baseball!!!! First to third!!
/Halos Heaven’d
Gardenhire has awoken a sleeping Centaur.
Oooooh, would I love to get into the bullpen early. Nice hit Al!
Arod! I gotta feeling (that this homestands gonna be a good good homestand)
A Rod is finally heating up!!!
And that is why Alex is the shit, Ron. But shall continue to be punished for your insolence.
Alex is all like, “I thought this guy was supposed to be good?”
/Marte’d
nasty slider
May Cano is here
“yes-mo.” woof.
Flaherty knows all about this because he has DH’d so many times in his career.
Wow. Sliders make Posada look silly. He swung over the top of THREE of them in that AB.
It’s really quite astounding to see how similar all three of Tex, Morneau, and Adrian are.
Eesh. C’mon, Andy…
Wow, walked on 4 pitches and 3 were strikes.
DP DP DP!
Great turn.
Cano is so smooth with those turns
For such a gritty team that does everything right, Cuddyer did a pretty bad job as far as breaking up the DP.
The first thing I thought of when I read this was Gardner. He goes sliding into second with a purpose every single time. I always see him running hard trying to break it up, no matter how routine it may seem.
Teixeira rules at this.
/most baseball players’d
Serendipity!
That was awesome.
That’ll be on SportsCenter.
Guhhhhhhh (bites finger)
Man, YES was rather blatant about turning up the volume on that ball call. Crowd noise is rather subdued, then they sudden ramped up the volume for the ‘Awwwww’.
Slick fielding!
Marcus “Take One For The Team” Thames.
Ha.. Thames getting on base. Me likes.
Seriously. I don’t care if he leans into one from time to time.
“AHH SHIT “
So serendipity means a favorable BABIP? Works for me
Yes! Now nobody is going to our lead in hit batters now!
Ummm, that wasn’t an ‘oww’, Michael. That was an ‘aw shit!’.
I don’t get that. Unless he’s trying to surprise the Twins and trying to bunt for a hit. That doesn’t make sense with lefty Gardner on deck.
I think he was trying to get a hit, just bunted it a bit too hard.
Just coming here to write the same thing.
Woo! Atta boy, El Capitan!
didnt hit poorly?
grounding to shortstop on a itch way out of the zone is bad luck?
He had a combination of bat at-bats and then when he DID hit it hard, he had terrible luck during the Tigers series (or their scouting was very good).
I love Swisher.
Sometimes I love small baseball
Great running and slide by Thames.
Jeter is making some murmurs…
A seven game RBI-less streak? That’s a new one. Must have picked that up at Fordham.
Swish-a-lish!
Hey, Swish!
Great catch by Swisher, not pretty but got the job done.
not pretty? that said base hit all over it
Awesome job by Swisher, hope that doesn’t mess with his arm too much
Hail the umpires!
“The Yankees don’t care about defense.”
- Rob Neyer
I’m not giving up on Nick Johnson being productive at the end of the year into the playoffs, but is it time to give up on any kind of power out of him?
Right now, forget about power. Let’s just hope he can get on the field.
I’d say so. Maybe he slugs .430-.450, which would be OK if he gets on base like he can. But he can’t continue to hit below the Mendoza line.
we’ll be lucky to get .280avg + .380obp
Yea. I think everyone would sign up for that right now for sure
I think he can top a .380 OBP if he comes back healthy. He had a .380 OBP in a horrendous, horrendous slump.
lets just say i’ll an .800 OPS in a heartbeat(whether its .420 slugging + .380 obp or .400 + .400)
With a bullshit call like that, I wish the team would run off the field like he called it a strike.
Oh no now we get a discussion on how Cervelli doesn’t play the game right or something
And how “he can learn a thing or two from Jorge Posada”. I like that one.
Atleast he hustled, right?
Ouch. Well played.
If –and a big if I know– Pettitte finishes the year with 20 wins and a 3.50ish ERA, do you think that it changes his mind a bit towards retirement. If the Yanks win the WS, does that get him to come back again and be a part of another dynasty, or does he “ride of into the sunset” on top?
Sorry, I couldn’t read past the “…with 20 wins”
Why? I know 20 wins is stupid and all that, but it’s a pretty big honor.
well not an honor. An accomplishment.
I don’t think he can get there. CC had 19 last year, with great numbers and ( I would argue ) a better lineup and bullpen behind him.
Ah. Yeah, that makes sense. Who knows though, maybe this is just Andy’s year.
I think Pettitte will pitch for another 5 years at least as long as his numbers are good.
I disagree I think he goes the route of Mike Mussina, not the route of Brett Favre.
No way. I can see him sticking around maybe another year or two, but five?
I think Mo will pitch 5 more, easily.
I can see that happening but that’s Mo, not Andy.
Depends on how he feels, and also how much cliff lee is asking for this offseason
Thanks for making Andy throw three more pitches, ump!
RoboUmps = RoboUmps +1.
I don’t mind losing NJ if we can have cervelli and posada in the lineup for now
The ump will call that pitch a strike, but not one right over the plate.
A-Rod is amazing, I don’t think he gets enough credit for what he’s been able to do over his career in spite of the criticism. He’s not even 35 yet and he’s 1 away from Frank Robinson. Not to mention his + patience, + speed, + defense, + arm and 2009 ring.
but he crossed teh mound of dallas braden1!11!!1!!
And he cheated on his wife after sunbathing in Central Park!! Nevermind, Bill Madden was right I guess.
This Robbie Cano fella is a pretty good hitter.
LMAO what a steal from the Giants!
I guess it looked like a good trade at the time, because Liriano was a lottery ticket and Nathan was a failed starter. Pierzynski was apparently going to be holding down the catcher’s position for a while.
I think Mike pointed out before that Liriano was coming off of back-to-back seasons in which he had shoulder issues
Thames: “hit me again punk, I dare ya!”
he’ll just K him instead
just like that haha
You’re the new Hummingbird S. That’s not really a great thing.
cliffs on this hummingbird feller?
Huh?
Basically, he/she was endlessly negative.
i’m not negative. its not negative to think thames will K. He K’s and he hits bombs, nothing new here
Right, but why even mention that he’s gonna strike him out before he does?
what is the big deal? sometimes i’ll say he’ll jack one out.
Fantasy question of the day: Which washed up former ace would you take a chance on in your league? Rich Harden, Scott Kazmir, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Ervin Santana or Ben Sheets?
Way he’s going now – Sheets.
i’d go after pure stuff and age…harden or ervin i think
kazmir’s stuff has fallen off a cliff
Haven’t tracked Ervin this year, but Harden has walked 31 in 37 INN. And, he’s prone to the semi-frequent shellacking.
yeah, but no one can deny the guys stuff. Ervin is probably the one i’d choose if i had a gun to my head.
Kazmir..too much injury risk with harden and sheets, matsuzaka never really panned out…and i like that kazmir’s a lefty.
…or not..forgot that kazmir’s stuff is nowhere to be found…make it ervin santana
Sheets for sure.
Santana.
I’d only call Harden and Sheets a legitimate former ace. The other three all have had their blemishes to make them short of an ace. Maybe Kazmir… but he did not have the longevity.
That said, Sheets out of the bunch. He has looked pretty bad but he was an absolute machine back in 04. Not looking at any stats but his K:BB was 2001 Pedro-esque.
also I think Santana’s actually had a couple of decent starts? Maybe?
Gehrig and Manny, easy.
I didn’t even have to think of that one. I already knew the answer. Now, does anybody think that A-Rod moves past Manny at some point this season?
I think that would mean five more, right? So, not very likely.
Manny has 21; A-Rod has 19. Alex will get to Gehrig sometime next season or in 2012
Whoops, my bad. Thought he had 23, but that’s Gehrig. Sorry. He still won’t hit three more this year, though.
Manny has 21. It’s possible.
Cano’s got hops.
Awesome x2.
Horrible baserunning by the Twins. But they do everything right… haha
I keep benching andy in my fantasy league thinking that the regression won’t be pretty when it happens…yet he keeps proving me wrong.
Just keep playing him and once he goes down, you only endure like 2 or 3 bad starts
Well done, Cano.
http://bit.ly/cnrizL
I just love how he smiles at everything. He is just awesome.
Robbie makes the other team feel like children
Well played. I lol’d.
I’ve been wondering since 2005 why nobody’s really started the Cano-Kano thing. I’m throwing my support your way in this endeavor.
Manny’s been off the DL for over a week. Flaherty gets paid to talk about baseball.
for a week*
Seriously, how have the Twins made it past the first round of the playoffs ONCE in the past ten years?
I can’t wait till Jeter starts drawing some BB’s again.
Pat Burrell DFAd. Whoah.
/Keanu’d
Burrell took the red pill.
Wow! That’s nuts.
What do you say all around who’s better Burrel or Thames? Burrel at least had a peak but hasn’t done anything in the AL.
Burrell. Like you said, at least he had a peak, and it was good.
A lot of line-outs this game for both squads. The BABIP gods must have felt besmirched by many.
Johan and Liriano aren’t just a couple of good lefties. In that 2006 season, they had a combined 31-9 record, 389 strikeouts, and an ERA of 2.47. That’s a pair of lefty aces.
Dare I say, Pocket Rockets?
/pokerjargon’d
Blalock getting called up when Dye is still out of a job! Racism I say, racism!
/Hudson’d
Point off, Park will be active tomorrow. Just after one rehab game? I expect he replaces Loogan. Nova should go back to Scranton after Sunday game. Melancon should be brought back. Nova needs to pitch regularly somewhere.
Holy crap Andy…
liriano used to throw like what, 98mph?
MLB gameday is down… which is better yahoo or espn?
Gameday isn’t down. But I’d go to sportsline if my choice was ESPN or Yahoo.
http://www.cbssports.com/mlb/g.....15_MIN@NYY
My game-day is still good.
mine still down pfftt.
That’s a bullshit call. He had the ball in his glove for half a second.
I honestly think this is a legit question based off of the game-day box-score: Who is more impressive today, Andy or Lirano?
Though Andy has given up less base-hits, he has pitched all to contact, while Lirano has a 7:1 ration. Thoughts?
Andy. The defense is there for a reason.
I think Liriano but Andy is dealing too. I was VERY impressed when Orlando Hudson led off with a hit and then he very easily dealt with Mauer/Morneau.
if andy and lirano switched roles then game score may be tied at 0.
Twins defense is solid enough to back up andy. Yanks defense could be no difference.
Orlando was going for the transfer but the ball came out to quick to call Swish out in my opinion.
Trivia: Last Yankee pitcher to throw 200 innings with a sub-3.00 era? Also: what year was it?
(Honor system! No B-R’ing!)
Ill say Guidry in 78
Nope! See below.
Was it Pettitte in 1997?
Yes ma’am!
Of course you would get the Andy Pettitte trivia question correct! That is your speciality.
haha. Andy’s 1997 was flipping awesome.
Wasn’t it Andy in his first year?
Close! See above.
Damn… I knew it was 97… mental error in thinking it was his first year.
damn… I dont remember anyone. Must be out of my time.. lol
I will guess Mike Mussina. But I think the under 3 era might have been with the Orioles. But, whatever.
Mussina is 2001?
Mussina had a 3.15 era in 2001 with 200 something innings.
I feel better about myself, ha. And he has an under 3, 200 inning season with the Orioles
It seems like nobody is talking about Hughes inning limit like we talked about Joba’s last year. Are they just going to let Hughes pitch till the limit then put him in the pen for the end of the year and playoffs? Are they going to ignore the limit for the playoffs if he is a legitimate Cy Young like he is pitching now? Are they going to pull a Joba with him and try to stretch the innings out as far as possible? Just started to think about that now that he clearly one of our best four starters. Probably number 2.
I heard that they were just going to skip starts here and there on him to make sure that he doesn’t go over before the end of the season
no bullpen for Hughes.
Whoa there Michael I think she’s married.
whats Hughes’ innings limit this year?
Not clear, but I think it’s around 170-180.
Pettitte’s got huge balls he wants to challenge Mauer. Span and
Hudson aren’t enough of a challenge.
Andy, come on…
Strike zone please? (In a good way.)
… that’s what she said.
I wish?
Damn. The Span walk is crappy. Really want to end this inning without seeing Mauer.
Andy does this all the time. Yet he somehow gets out of it.
To the detriment of fantasy WHIP everywhere.
What the shit Andy. Strikes!
Not good. This isn’t a coincidence. Around 80-85 pitches and Andy starts to lose his command, his mechanics get out of whack. The Yankees said no limitations but you had to think he would tire after this many pitches.
How was that not a strike? FECK
What did someone say about Andy’s balls?
*looks at Bex*
I KNEW someone would comment with this.
WOot. Good shit Andy.
Had ‘em all the way.
Damn Andy,that was close.
..and he gets out of it. Oh, strand rate, how I love thee.
BOO YAH!!!!
I am so relieved! Wow on gameday that looks deep. It seemed like Mauer was definitely coming through there. I guess that’s why Pettitte is the shit.
I love this sexy old man.
I love this sexy
oldexperienced manI suggest the Yanks pad their lead. I really don’t want to see the tying runs reach base every inning because of a hit or an errant walk.
hahaha I enjoyed this comment “I suggest the Yankees pad their lead…” priceless
exactly how close to the wall was that ball? I can only monitor via Gameday and it seems to be right up against the 399′ marker.
Right at the warning track. He hit it well, just not well enough.
Time to tack on.
11 straight balls from Andy. First game back from injury and he’s up to 90+ and losing command, got to be the last inning there, right? I wish Park is back though, this wouldn’t be a bad spot for him. Morneau first next inninng, I guess it’s going to be Boone Logan or Marte, I wish I have more faith in those guys but they’ve been just awful.
Yea. This team could use a heathy Park
Damn, Posada has been a doubles machine of late.
He’s been a doubles machine his whole career.
Yes, I am aware of the awesome-ness of JoPo. However, he has been hitting the doubles at an extravagant pace over the past couple days. This is particularly pleasurable due to the recent calf issues; he may not be what he used to be on the field but he can still swing the stick.
Pettitte is at 91 PC now. It becomes difficult for Girardi. Need more runs.
And you got more runs.
Remember how annoying Harris was in last years ALDS. It seemed like he always came up with the big hit… though they were swept.
Absolutely, ugh. I also think he made the last out of the series, though I could be wrong.
and he made the last out of that inning where they had bases loaded, nobody out. So maybe we’re just using some confirmation bias here.
I remember his triple in Game 2. Though that was erased by Tex’s walk-off.
Thames being Thames.
Time for Cervelli’s first homer. Call it The Francisco Treat.
http://mlb.mlb.com/stats/indiv.....statType=1
How does this guy have as many AB’s?!
It’s the grit factor.
sheer luck, I’d say. Perhaps the combination of a lack of viable options in the farm system and injuries is what’s allowed him to play as much as he has. Guess he’s repeatedly in the right place at the right time.
He does everything right. Except for baserunning in the ALDS and yesterday.
Lol Kay called the Rays the Devil Rays.
Religious fanatics everywhere pray for our sins.
Cervelli approaching the Williams line.
Gardner threatening to run on every pitch is always fun to watch.
C’mon Gritster. Run run run!
ok, I’m glad that the first pitch to Jeter was called a ball, but Gameday had it literally down the middle of the plate
It was called a strike, and rightfully so
yeah, Gameday just changed it to a strike. i see it now
Ahahahaha Brett Gardner > you. Though was he out?
Automatic.
SB against southpaw….. YAH!!!
He was out, it was close, but I’ll take it!
Gardner is so good, he beats out pickoff moves. From a lefty, no less
He was picked off? And still made it?
Yep, though I think they got him.
He’s getting the veteran affect in regards to their strike zones.
I saw the replay. Hudson got the ball, but never applied the tag.
I saw the replay too. It looked like he tagged him on the arm right before he touched the bag.
Even a force out is great from Gardner. It’s like a sac bunt replacing the speed at 2nd with his own.
Brett Gardner tied for the lead in stolen bases!
Not too mention he is a way better player than Pierre and has only been caught once!
I would think Liriano’s Ice is distracting to the hitters. He’s worn it as far back as I can remember though.
Nick Johnson may need surgery and is out until August, says Brian Cashman.
http://sports.espn.go.com/new-.....id=5191210
Is this really a surprise?
No surprise, Johnson said that he could not grip the bat.
This is no different from what’s on Lohud. Cortisone shot has 50/50 chance of working, and if it doesn’t, he needs surgery.
He’s not out until August. It’s still up in the air.
Eh, I misread it. Made it seem like the surgery was definite…which it probably is considering who we’re talking about.
damn
Transfer him to 60 day DL to make a room for either Weber or Winafree when the time is right.
I wonder if pitchers truly dislike Gardner as a human just because of the mental and physical stress he causes them when he gets on base.
Also, has anyone here watched band of brothers? With the name a somewhat “hard-nosed” look, I can’t help but think of Gardnere.
He doesn’t have an underbite………and he has both legs.
Too soon?
BAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
So awesome.
Andy has only allowed 5 base runners all day, but it felt like a struggle watching on Gameday
There were two innings where it was a little iffy, the second and the … sixth? Other than that, though, really it was mostly cruise control.
Is Andy’s ERA sub-2 again after this? Drool.
1.79
Yup. He has an ERA of 1.80 now.
Oh yes. A sparkling 1.79.
I know ERA is somewhat misleading… but I can’t help but love the Yanks sporting these shiny ones.
Absolutely. And the homegrown ones, too!
lol. Umpires are pathetic. I guess the Morneau should’ve assumed the pitch that has been a ball all day is now a strike.
Andy was the boss today. 6.1 IP of shutout ball.
I love how Andy’s two K’s are against Mauer and Morneau.
absolutely, and that K to Mauer was just freaking nasty.
I think every member of the Yankees infield could legitimately win both the Gold Glove and Silver Slugger.
And be 1-4 in MVP voting.
The city of Boston’s minds would collectively explode.
Nah. Miggy is tearing the AL up at an astounding rate… he is freaking sick. Jeters glove is not there at all. Maybe the rest.
Will be a good 1B AL gold glove race, though. Youk and Tex… will bring some good debate.
Doesn’t look too good this year with all the slow starts from Teix, A-Rod and Jeter to a lesser extent.
Maybe I am just being to harsh. But do you guys think it was a good idea sending Pettitte out to take care of Morneau just because of the Lefty-Lefty matchup?
I am torn, because Andy had a rough 6th, and Morneau is their best hitter right now regardless of what hand the pitcher throws with.
I thought he was either gonna send out Pettitte or Marte. I prefer Pettitte there. By a lot.
Robertson seems to revert to himself now. Or is it Twins?
never mind, he still walks someone.
Just a heads up. If you see someone in a light blue Yankees T taking out women and children to get foul balls on the 3rd base side tomorrow, it’s me.
hahaha, that would be hilarious
Lol Delmon Young walked.
Settle down D-Rob.
Michael Kay saying the trade was “probably” better for the Rays. Are you freakin kidding me, it was a huge steal for the Rays. Granted who wouldve thought Bartlett would become the hitter he has become with the Rays.
and who would have thought Garza would spit that much in a Rays uniform?
and who would have thought Garza would be getting facial hair advice from Youkillis?
Pleas DO NOT let Punto get a hit!
Okay, Marte. Be good, please.
Ugh. I don’t want to be a negative Nancy, but this can’t end well. Hope I’m wrong, but I’m calling 3R HR.
You’re wrong. It ended quite well, for now at least. =P
Robertson needs to be sent down.
Marte…I don’t know what else to say.
Better him than Boone Logan.
Marte?…
marte needs to make thome look silly.
Damaso’s got this.
Told ya.
Funny story: I have been to one Yankee game in my life seeing how I live in PEI, Canada. It was the last year of YSII and had to get there. Anyways, it was Joba’s second start of his career and he did not pitch great… but was okay. Giese came into pitch like, 4 IP of great ball. I got to see Mo and the Yanks won… so that was great.
Anyways, a foul ball went into the stands and a bunch of little kids went to get the ball. Well, an older guy (30) got to it first and sat down. The kids were all staying asking for it and the crowd started to boo. He gets up and goes to toss the ball to the crowd of youngsters… but than fakes it and sits down. He was then removed from the stadium.
Do people get removed a lot for being assholes?
Well, should he have been removed. Thats a bit too excessive for what he did, no matter his character.
Wow. That’s certainly a dick move but no reason to be removed from the stadium.
Yeah. I thought it was a little over the top as well. Still funny, but I wasn’t sure if it was that easy to be removed.
Anytime you watch a home game, try to listen for the “asshole” chant. That usually results in someone getting kicked out. It happens.
Awesome name. I also liked that video.
jim thome? ouch
Marte got this. (fingers crossed)
Good Lord.
wats with his velocity? he was throwing 94 in the postseason
attaboy damaso
Marte! Thank you Mo!
That’s fuckin right D-Mart. Time for you to get on a roll baby.
nice
YESSSS nice Marte.
Marte was downright nasty!
Marte… yeah budday!
P.S. Good to see Thome producing, just not against the Yanks.
Redemption is spelled M-a-r-t-e.
yess, thank you, marte, for finally coming through
chamberlain and Rivera coming up. Guaranteed to win the series.
If Joba goes 1-2-3 Rivera has Mauer Morneau and Cuddyer to face in the 9th
In other words, we won.
I am so scared. lol.
If no more runs from Yanks then Rivers finally gets a save opportunity.
Who’s Rivers? Is he a call-up from the minors?
/dick’d
ha… Rivera’s new clone.
swisher looks completely out of whack haha
and he ends up walking
amazing
One of the Two Walking Nicks with his specialty.
I have to leave, blah. Yankees got this.
This umpire is really bad. Swish got a bit lucky on that walk.
TEIXEIRA!!!
Mitre time, bitches!
Mitre starting tomorrow.
TEIX MESSAGE
poor mariano
Tex with a freakin BOMB!!!!
Holy. Shit.
That was almost Giambian.
Damn, Tex. What is that, 6 homers in May?
Haha. Check out the zone on Swisher’s walk.
http://www.brooksbaseball.net/.....type=3.gif
Jeez. He obliterated that one.
Put this one in the refridgerator.
/Chick Hearn’d
just BAAAAAAARELY got underneath it
Jeez, I thought that was gone.
Tex and Arod heating up big time.
Damn that one sounded like a homer.
Mark Teixeira to Alex Rodriguez: “Hah! Pussy.”
Alex to Mark: “Hah!, I am what I eat.”
high school cafeteria’d
They than give Dallas Braden a swirly.
then*
I predict that Tex or A-Rod will hit one into the grandstand at some point this year.
How does one have an 0-1 record and have a 0.00 ERA?
The run that was allowed wasn’t earned.
Unearned runs.
WOW! Gameday has that as an absolute bomb.
Unearned runs.
come into a tie game, give up an unearned run to have the loss attached to you.
GEORGIE JUICES ONE
hip hip!
JOPO! Holy shit that went all the way back!
I guess Mahay just gave up an earned run. LOL.
Gardenhire FAIL!!
HAHA
That fan got a great, lucky bounce on that HR.
Now I can go back to studying for my final as this one is apparently over.
The boys love playing at home.
How often do you see two catchers bat back to back in the lineup without batting gloves?

If you ever get a chance to meet them, do not shake their hands.
It’s just awkward in the locker room whenever Frankie asks Jorge to pee on his hands.
They are like women, they always go into the bathroom together. It’s awkward.
Nova time?
Boone Logan time, this is when he really should be pitching
Great call.
omg i hope so im like a little girl waiting to see him pitch live (wasnt watching when he did)
Boom Loganed
was that the wave??
my god
It’s a 7-0 game, who cares at this point?
The fans need to remain interested. This game is a foregone conclusion.
The wave is totally lame. For sure.
…but at least we don’t sing Sweet Caroline. Man, is that disturbing. Check your balls at the door when going to a Sox game.
i freaked out on my entire section when they did the wave during an Orioles game last week
Didn’t know it was frowned upon. Is it just as it is considered really lame?
A-Rod with the CANNON.
He actually didn’t opt out
he was released

who knows
Kay and Flaherty seriously need to invest in a computer, and use it to access MLBTR. Flash didn’t know if Manny was still on the DL. Now both of them have no idea about Mientkiewicz. Just opted out yesterday.
BTW, I spelt that name with no reference. I’m proud of my spelling.
/Flaherty’d
I miss Cone. He actually use to mention FanGraphs, BaseballReference.com and other sites during the game.
logan fucking sucks
Loogan is brutal
Where do you guys go to find probable starting pitchers for future game? I remember MLB.com used to have like some schedule page that charted this out…. I’m an idiot and can’t find it at the moment…
Trying to decide what game(s) I want to go to on the rest of the homestand.
Oh and thanks to AJ for dropping the knowledge earlier in the thread about what Hughes’ projected innings limit is.
Much appreciated.
news—->probable pitchers
here is the MLB one
http://mlb.mlb.com/news/probab.....m_mlb_news
each team has their own also
It’s under “News” on the top bar on mlb.com.
Or search for it on mlb.com
“Hey that Boone Logan kid has an ERA around 3.50. He ain’t half bad. What a find.”
/Casual fan’d
Why is Boone Logan on the ML roster again? Melancon could not do any worse.
Posada is the shot of the game? Tex’s was more impressive.
Time to root for Seattle
Nice win. Good hitting, Good pitching. Das it.
A 43-pitch effort from Boone Logan says to me, “Say hi to Michael Scott for me, Boone”. Someone is bound for Scraton PA.
Is Nova still on the roster to caddy for Mitre? If so, I’d love to see Logan sent down and get Sanchez back up and give him another chance. I like him over Melancon only because he’s a starter and could be used in case of a short outing by Vazquez. He had a good start, but it’s not a guarantee he’s 100 percent back yet.
I would think the signing of Tim Redding means that the Yankees like having Nova and/or Sanchez up with the big club.
Logan will be sent down to make a room for Park. Nova stays with MLB until Ace returns. That means Nova has to pitch in any situation not just mop up duty.
Melancon for Robertson is also a possibility.
I totally forgot about Park. Funny how that happens…
Just saw the news about Johnson…probably going to end up having surgery on his wrist which would put him in for an august return. Looks like Miranda has his shot.
Was there an update after the game? The last I heard was that gave him a cortisone shot and were going to see if that worked, which I guess it has in the past. He should have the surgery immediately if it’s not working.
Yeah I blew my load to soon on that too. What you said is right. The way the article/headline was written on ESPN made it seem like he was destined for surgery. But it’s not for sure yet.
ESPN got me too. Bastards.
