Marquez to the DL, Carlyle up
ByVia Marc Carig, the Yankees have placed Jeff Marquez on the disabled list with a sore shoulder, and he will head to New York tomorrow. Buddy Carlyle has been called up to replace him, and he will be at the stadium in time for tonight’s game. Carlyle just pitched for Triple-A Scranton last night and Marquez hasn’t pitched since the weekend, so this is a legit injury. It’s not like they’re just looking for a fresh arm for game two of the doubleheader. Hopefully it’s just some soreness and not anything more serious, for Jeff’s sake.

David Phelps going on DL with a shoulder injury too.
OO that’s not good.
I guess gordon was a good idea to sign
And does that mean betances gets to AAA?
No, this is why Igawa is so valuable.
Did you see his performance last night?
ah come on, phelps is now injured? no way! That totally blows!
For the life of me, I can’t figure out the appeal of Buddy Carlyle.
2 things:
1) The Yankees value experience over upside in almost every instance when faced with a decision between a veteran and a prospect.
2) The Yankees don’t think as highly of their AAA bullpen arms as their fans do.
the yanks just chose to use there minor legaue teams strangely in my opinion.. Put greg smith in the bullpen if u like Expierence, and have a lefty who might get lefties out, look what happened when they gave Noesi and nova chances, they’ve both helped, forget the carlyes, sanits, marquez’s, and guys who just aren’t good, give it to guys who have earned it.. I’d rather see Wordekemper then that bum carlyle, and that isn’t saying much…
He leads the choices in a key catagory:
Not on the DL
He is the ideal prototypical epitomy of the term “an arm.”
…or even “a hand.”
Textbook example of a synecdoche.
So Marquez, Phelps, Whelan, Norton and Sanit have all been placed on the DL in the last two weeks. That’s crazy considering the Yanks were already dealing with injuries to Joba, Soriano, Feliciano and Marte.
When it rains…
I blame Alan Horne for being healthy and angering the injury gods.
That, and two weeks of Eric Chavez, completely screwed the balance of things.
The day when Chavez comes off the DL, we all need to buy bubble-wrap futures.
The day Chavez and Horne return, somewhere, there will be a person somewhere. A cperson who has no clue who either of them are, or why they are connected. That person will die.
^^ Haha that was great
That really is unfortunate for Marquez that he got hurt. I had no problem with him being up here as long it was just to be a long man.
As for Carlyle, I really can’t stand seeing guys like this anymore. Why does Cashman always pick experience over quality? Carlyle is just another Chan Ho Park or Latroy Hawkins. Atleast he won’t be here for long because its got to be a lock that he loses his roster spot when Colon returns. Not too shortly after that Gordon will lose his spot as well to Hughes and join Carlyle on the bus back to Scranton. The minors or the indepent leagues are exactly where guys like Carlyle and Gordon belong.
