Game 156: Rest
ByIt’s not quiet the full Triple-A lineup, but it’s pretty close. I have a feeling the few regulars in the starting nine will find themselves on the bench before the eighth and ninth inning rolls around. The division’s clinched, time for a breather.
Derek Jeter, SS
Eduardo Nunez, 2B
Mark Teixeira, DH
Nick Swisher, RF
Andruw Jones, LF
Jesus Montero, C
Jorge Posada, 1B
Brandon Laird, 3B
Greg Golson, CF
Bartolo Colon, SP
The game starts a little after 7pm ET and can be seen on YES. Enjoy.

Divison title is amazing and all, but I want HFA. We’ve been on a roll since June in the Bronx.
The Yankees are five games up on the second-best team in the AL with seven to play. Procuring HFA shouldn’t be a problem.
Montero catching! You can also watch on MLB Network
Good can’t wait to see how he does.
Hopefully Joe can get the B boys in soon so they can finally quite the RAB masses.
quiet not quite
I think the experience of Scott Proctor being brought out for a fourth straight inning while every troll on here comes alive would be a nice bit of well-deserved comedic relief.
True so true.
LOL
Ha! Even Russell Martin knows the Red Sox are gritty!
Really would like to see Jeter finish batting .300 or better. After all the talk of him being dead it would be a great way for him to tell his critics KISS MY ASS!!
Speaking of half-dead has-beens, I still can’t get over Jorge’s hit last night. I’ve been thinking about it all day, and it literally gives me goose bumps. I happened by a TV at work today just as that moment came on the re-broadcast, and found myself rooted to the spot for a couple minutes, completely forgetting what I was supposed to be doing. All the haters out there, go ahead and call me sappy and too forgiving, but I seem to have forgotten all the GIDP/facepalms, and if and when he retires after the season, I have a hard time imagining a better memory with which to cap his career.
How about if he caps his career with a significant contribution (bat only) in the drive to #28???
What a way to go out!!!!
We will see i wouldn’t put anything pass any of that core 4.
Totally agree. I remember what the catching position use to be like before that man took over. I realize what he has become, but I still can’t just discard him because something shiner happen to come along.
Jesus got wild with the champagne last night. He was literally pouring it on everyone.
He can walk on water, so he doesn’t care how much he was pouring on others.
It was seltzer water before He got to it.
well played sir
Why is AJ in the picture? What has he contributed to this year? …I kid I kid…sorta.
Plus he looks really creepy when he smiles, at least in this picture.
These are the games where we should have Jorge Vasquez playing 1B, Nunez at SS, David Adams or Ramiro Pena at 2B, Betances or Brackman on the mound.
ALL of the vets should have a day off except A-Rod, who only needs to work on his stroke.
We can play watch the scoreboard with DET, to ensure HFA. Let Tampa, Boston and LAA battle it out until game 162.
agreed…I kind of expected this line up:
SS Nunez
RF Dickerson
DH Montero
3B A-Rod
LF Jones
1B Vasquez
2B Pena
CF Golson
at least tonight.
I’d want A-Rod DH and Montero behind the plate, as he is.
Ok Colon, you’re the number 3 starter, pitch like you mean it you “lucky”, “lucky” bastard!
Lol at the lucky comment. It got kind of crazy a couple of posts ago.
That’s why I went there, haha
I wouldn’t mind seeing that discussion continue. It was interesting. I’m more so on you’re side. Imo luck plays a role but I don’t think a players entire season can be boiled down to being lucky or unlucky.
I made my point, and they made theirs, they obviously don’t agree with me and I don’t agree with them. No need to bicker about it even more.
Why the hell are so many regulars starting? Time to roll out the AAA lineup and roll over for the Rays.
Well we kind of are.
Jetes, Jones and Swish are in so Matt Moore has to throw to some legit major leaguers.
I like how you left out Teixera. : )
If he’s our 3rd starter, we are probably screwed come playoff time
I’ve always felt the rotation would be CC in 1&4, Nova in 2&5 and Garcia was our G3 guywith Colon only pitching if we advance to the LCS where he would get a token start.
everyone looks drunk out there.
Bartolo is falling down and Swish can’t pick the ball up
That’s what I was thinking.
haha, I’m trying really hard not to get mad about anything in this game tonight…but I have to take exception with Micheal Kay “If he(Bartolo) throws up a stinker tonight, they(the Yankees) might have to rethink things(about their rotation)” I really don’t think we should judge Bartolo by this one start at all and that he should be out number 4 anyway behind Freddy.
This might get ugly….lol.
omg yankees are losing on purpose!!!111
This is bad news for Boston.
On the plus side, we will see Brackman and Bettances at this rate- right?
On the majorly negative side, Colon is cooked.
This about Colon appears to be right. He’s barely hitting 90. Something to keep an eye on. I don’t mind the runs, or even losing this game, just that he corrects whatever has been off. So far, the velocity and command are something to worry about.
Let’s see if Brackman or Betances get a look in this game, especially given all the pitchers we used yesterday.
Betances and Brackman tonight!
Yep. This is the Yankees number 3 starter right here.
I’m still thinking either Hughes or Garcia.
Garcia likely gets game 3 and CC pitches on short rest in game 4 like he was scheduled to do the past 2 years, they just happend to sweep MIN so it didn’t happen but it was planned.
I’m praying for Hughes.
If I had it my way (heaven forbid) I’d want it to be CC, Nova, Healthy Hughes/Garcia, Garcia/Healthy Hughes
Hughes is probably coming out of the pen
He’ll be #4
Exactly and we shouldn’t need a 4th until we reach the LCS and he would only throw 1 game in that series anyway.
Good job, kids!!!
Yeah Tampa!!!
Nice DP to get out of it there Bartolo…one thing that always amazes me about Colon, he always seems to keep his pitch count down. If Hughes allows three runs in an inning it always seems like he throws 30+ pitches while doing it…same with everyone else in the rotation including CC…Colon threw 21.
Why is Swisher playing? Isn’t his elbow still a bit dinged up?
I know playing Dickerson against a lefty is not ideal, but why not give Swish some time off too?
reply fail….
Moore looks nasty
He almost has the velocity that Strasburg has without the viiolent movement.
Moore in pinstripes please. Rays pitchers are so filthy.
But we’d have to suck ass for many years to get all of those high 1st round picks.
I could live without that trade-off.
Moore was an eighth rounder.
Details.
Wait, I thought all great pitching prospects were high first rounders.
So did I. Something is not right here lol.
Ouch!!! My bad.
So does that mean that the Yanks didn’t even think much of this lefty coming out of the draft?
Or that he just blossomed in the minors?
This seems like a no way we win game. Hope for the kids to do well, lose and move on.
Montero cycle with a salami and the Yankees lose 8-6. The next 5 Ray runs are all a result of 3 Nunez errors. And, also, Jesus throws out 5 base runners.
yup Yanks definetly still drunk
Jeter didnt miss by much, only a couple of miles.
Jeets with the Noonie.
Yanks must have been drinking heavy last night.
Jeter got a champagne hangover. That ball had no chance.
PILE ON THOSE RUNS TAMPA!!!!
Bartolo looks awesome…
This is awesome. I don’t even care that Colon is sort of sucking.
That’s actually the ONE thing I do care about.
Funny enough, I’m watching this and don’t feel a thing about it either. Keep piling it on, Tampa. I just want to see Betances and Brackman out there.
That is really the only concern I have…we could look terrible in every other front, but I would’ve liked to see Colon look good going into the playoffs.
this is so bad. can only laugh.
With all these .230 hitters, why no legendary Sam Fuld?
DOOOOOOOOOOMED!!!!!!
too soon?
It will be very interesting to see how Girardi manages to avoid using Brackman and Betances tonight.
Time for Dellin/Brackmonster?
Valdes/Procotr
Come on bring in the Killer B’s already!
How many comments will compare the killer B’s to Strasburg in some way?
5 over/under?
Massacre.
The sillies in Beansville must be seething and foaming in the mouth.
Tough break !!
They’re going on about how the integrity of baseball is being ruined by the yankees not playing their regulars, when they know the Sox would do the same thing.
And at sports bars throughout New England, fans head for their caaahhhhhhhs.
Nah, they aren’t drunk enough to face their fat wives yet.
Why is Swisher playing? Isn’t his elbow still a bit dinged up?
I know playing Dickerson against a lefty is not ideal, but why not give Swish some time off too?
To avoid the no hitter.
Yikes, I wasn’t aware that Montero was such a hacker. Hopefully those Strikeouts will go away with time and experience.
He walked.
I’m aware, bucko. I was referring to his MLB statistics: 15 SO/45 AB
Exactly, 45 AB. I’m sure you could dig up a 45 AB stretch of anyone’s career when they struck out 15 times.
Which is why I wished it away with experience at the ML level and eventual plate discipline . . . No need to be so aggressive, just making an observation.
That’s how he is.
But I’ve noticed your observation too.
Joe DiMaggio struck out 13 times in the entire 1941 season. Wow.
He’s a rookie fighting for a playoff spot. Of course he’s out there swinging away, I mean the guy is only 21
It seems like many ppl forget he’s 21.
Don’t CALL ME BUCKO!
oh man, “bucko” … ouch!
Colon should still start games in the playoffs! The Yankees have been “lucky” to have him!!!
Bartolo definitely has a bookie, and he did not bet on the Red Sox.
Is it just me or does Moore’s delivery look awful similar to Nova’s?
This kid Moore looks official!!!!!
Price, Shields, Neimann, Davis, and Moore….we better keep our offense in tact for many years to come.
Some suggest Moore’s the best of the bunch. That’s saying something.
Yeah, something scary….
Can see why, he has a Price like fastball and yet doesn’t rely on it exclusively.
Matt Moore, good at baseball, folks
My level of caring about this game is like zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Stat-padding time. LOL!!!
And that groan you heard was from Boston.
Ring ring, get the B’s warming up. Duty calls!
welp, looks like colon’s mailed it in this second half
He’s not even using his muscle. His pitching on the strength of his fat.
Dr. Atkins approves!
Time to get Jeter (Pena) and Swisher (Dickerson) out…. not sure why they were in the lineup in the first place.
CC, Nova, and Garcia/Hughes will be the 1-3. Colon will start game 4 (or 5 if CC goes on short rest) of the LCS and WS.
I’m not sure I’d give Hughes a start in the playoffs. He hasn’t been impressive all year, and now his back is bothering him. I would use him in the pen exclusively.
A month or two ago I predicted the Yankees 1-4 would be CC, Nova, Hughes, and Garcia with Colon going to the ‘pen and Burnett off the roster. If Hughes can show he’s healthy and if Colon keeps throwing up meatballs, my prediction may very well be correct. But if I’m correct NO ONE will notice and instead I’ll be crucified for saying the Red Sox will win 6/7 against Baltimore. Tough crowd.
is been fun colon, i think is over though
Yep, Colon sure deserves a postseason start…
Colon has been tattooed lately. Not a good sign going into the playoffs.
Yeah, didn’t realize how bad it’s been. He’s given up 4+ runs in 5 of his last 7 starts, including this one.
Not good. Looks like the luck might have worn off.
It wasn’t luck, he was legitimately awesome, but yeah he sucks now lol whatevs.
+ Infinity
Where did he say he sucks? Seriously shit like this caused that meltdown on the typo thread…
Off to the fat farm.
Matt Moore is fucking good.
Why do you guys act like this game is meaningless? Have you ever heard of momentum? If the Yankees lose, it starts negative momentum that will very likely carry over to the ALDS.
Considering half the lineup isn’t in and the other half may very well be hung over after clinching the AL East. Yeah the game is meaningless.
I think he’s joking.
You are missing the point, my friend. It is all about momentum. You are familiar with the concept of momentum, aren’t you?
There though is time to swithc the momentum back.
/dontarguewithafool…
I’m more familiar with the concept of resting weary bodies that have playing a shit ton of games in a short period of time.
Was just joshin’, my friend. (I could’ve done the whole /….’d thing and given it away, but it’s much more fun not to.
Jerome S. wins!
It’s not meaningless, but sometimes clunkers like this one happen, and it’s better that it happened the day after we clinched the AL East and have a 5-game lead for home field in the American League.
ICWUDT
My man.
Rays are gonna have a really dangerous rotation in the future cuz this Matt Moore guy is ridiculous
I hate to say this, but I’d rather see Hughes (if healthy) or AJ start Game 3, than Colon or Sweaty. Colon is done, it’s well past midnight. Sweaty has been sucking since coming off the DL. I say role the dice with Hughes or AJ, hope they are on, and if not, have the very quick hook ready.
I would never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever ever want to see AJ start a playoff game. I’d rather they go with Noesi if it means no AJ.
I actually would rather they go with Noesi too, but I don’t think it’s an option. He’s only started one game all year and went two innings. I just don’t see Joe G throwing him out there to start under any circumstances. Personally, I would roll the dice, but I’m not the manager.
Really?
Proctor?
Really?
Time for Proctor to go the final 6. Gotta stay away from Brackman/Betances!!
Girardi’d
Awesome now we run the risk of a guy like Proctor or Laffey actually putting up a few zero’s and Girardi adding them to the playoff roster?
Phew…. fortunately Proctor is pitching like Proctor and Girardi can put that experiment to rest.
Now all that needs to happen is some lefties crushing Laffey.
Red Barber was fired over the game from 1966 for pointing out how small the crowd was
So much lol
Even now Joe refuses to use Brackman and Betances….
Like Mike said on twitter. CC gave up 9 against the Rays before the 2009 ALDS.
Upton hit for the cycle.
He may do it again lol
Scott Freaking Proctor again???
And just like that…..Girardi’s a freaking genius.
/sarcasm
What is he expecting??? Next up, Laffey. Then, Valdes. Then, Mitre. Then Gaudin. Can we get Moseley back?
lol @ the Boston sucks chant.
Jeter looks like Nunez out there
lol Jeter
so bad.
I have a feeling the few regulars in the starting nine will find themselves on the bench before the eighth and ninth inning rolls around.
Apparently Jeter decided that he should stop playing SS already.
Is Girardi not allowed to use Brackman or Betances?
Maybe not. Maybe Cashman told him no.
But he said they can warm up!
Maybe so.
They may not be warming up, just getting some work in.
Then there’s no reason they can’t “get some work in” in a blowout.
Again maybe Cashman told him dont do it.
Maybe to not hurt their psyche, maybe to avoid injury, who knows.
That’s what I’m thinking.
lol Scott Proctor
Fun, fun, fun.
Maybe they should use that Welch’s sparkling grape juice next time.
And you’re telling me that Betances and Brackman couldn’t be worse than this dude???
WTF Girardi!!!
Meant, couldn’t be better……
Well, at least if Joe had any bizarre remains of an idea to get Proctor into the playoff roster, it’s gone.
BRING ON THE SCRUBS!!!!
Tampa needs to save some offense, they still play the Jays this weekend. I doubt the Jays roll out the Triple A/Hangover offense.
Well, we’re just helping them out with batting practice, seeing as we kept them shut down for the previous 3 games.
Now, go get them Sux.
If Joe was entertaining the idea of having Proctor on the postseason roster, that idea should be trounced immediately.
Where are the killer b’s!!!
See, Coney believes in momentum
Maybe Golson will pitch
At least the broadcasters are thinking the same as we are!
Laffey what the hell?
Maybe Cashman told him no? No one has asked Girardi about it, maybe someone should.
I’ve seen enough Proctor, Valdes and Laffey. Give the kids some innings please.
keep it up, scott
Well, this game should put the Yankees closer in line with their Pythagorean projection.
You know the Rays are muttering to themselves “Yeah — we couldn’t put up just one or two of these at some point yesterday”.
So, this is what a hangover actually looks like…
How did he get to third on Greg “Canon Arm” Golson??
This is Montero’s fault.
How’s he been tonight? Just got home.
So far he has not caught any of the home runs.
As good as a player can be when they have Colon getting smacked around.
And Proctor getting smacked around. And Jeter making 2 errors.
On the plus side, this is a good game for Montero to catch as he’s probably only having to catch ~50% of the pitches thrown.
nice one.
Didn’t somebody say that Torre didn’t use his rookie pitchers also?
I’m sure as hell Cashman told him no.
Hell Torre is the reason for Joba rules.
Well if he told Torre no, then he probably told Girardi no as well.
Girardi knows how to handle young pitching.
Torre destroys arms.
Based on what? I’m sure he’s better than Torre but he hasn’t been given a lot of young pitching to handle. There’s Joba in 2009 which was a disaster, and Hughes in 2010 which in the second half was a disaster. That’s pretty much it. I mean there’s DRob but there’s the whole dry hump thing.
Hey look, Ramiro Pena!
Ramiro Pena for Swisher?
Smells like a Nunez in RF so Girardi can carry another pitcher in the postseason experiment…. (or he will just out Dickerson in)
Montero baby
Jesus isn’t scared of Moore
Jesus is unimpressed by Moore’s shit.
Laffey warming smh
So far the highlight of the game is a Jesus Montero single… am i right?
Even Kay knows that this is the game to get Betances/Brackman in.
I think Cashman told him not to if Karl is correct that he told Torre not to.
I can’t wait for the ESPN article bashing the Yankees for playing like shit against the Rays after their clincher.
Warren has 9 k’s.
?
That’s what Kay said!
yep lol
Moore
Who are we trotting out there this inning? Pedro?
Please, please, please, please have Brackman OR Betances pitch at least 1 inning, please Girardi. I’m begging you!!!!
/GoingOverboard’d
Cashman’s orders
You don’t know that
If Karl is correct and that Cashman told Torre that he couldnt do it, it would make logical sense that he told Girardi about it too.
It doesn’t make sense to me how they let them warm up, but can’t get them into a game.
I dont think they were ever going to get in a game. I think they were just doing bullpen work and keeping them in turn. Like a bullpen session.
He ordered it because Joba was nearing his innings limit. I’m pretty sure neither Brackman nor Betances are close.
…And just like that The Tigers are back in the game against Baltimore.
All tied up 5-5.
Sox fans must be soooo pissed that the O’s go back to sucking after they leave Fenway haha.
they sucked in Fenway as well, the Red Sox just sucked more
9 K’s in 4 innings…
Posada is a AA hitter now from the right side-maybe.
Wow! Dude can you leave it alone let the guy retire in peace.
So what was our biggest loss (run differential) of the season?
July 14th the Yanks got beat 16-7. They have only given up 12 or more runs one other time all year (before tonight).
I think the Proctor and Laffey outings are good news as you know Girardi at least had considered these guys for the postseason.
Hopefully Laffey gets hammered by some lefties so Girardi can put an end to his LOOGY madness.
Good joke.
I hope Laffey gives up a Slam.
Same.
Off a brand name!
Laffey!
And Moore looks like a beast. And he was an 8th rounder too. Damn you Tampa.
He looks very impressive but its like a AAA line-up.
Eh there are 5 big leaguers in there still. Hell those 5 could still be an average offense. Anyways true he’s facing against 3 or 4 minor leaguers but doing this is NY is quite impressive for any kid.
Agree
it wouldn’t be too surprising if he would have this performance against the regulars
Laffey has 2 pitches. Bad and worse.
Can the Rays score in every inning? It’s only been done two times.
This season?
Ever.
Do you know which games they were? Can you post the box scores if you do?
http://www.baseball-reference......5050.shtml
http://www.baseball-reference......9130.shtml
Ironically, both of them were in Wrigley Field.
Not sure if this is true or not, but I’ve been to a game where the Yanks scored a run in every inning.
Yeah Brackman!!!!!
Jeets should shave the stubble off the top.
Bosley
“They grab it and pull on it. I mean it’s my real hair you know?”
Finally!!!!!
Brackman’s up!!!!
Maybe…just maybe. If not, I’m switching over to The Office.
Finally, something worth watching in this game
OMG !
OMG!
OMG!
The killer B is warming up!!!!!
I’d rather have YES show Brackman pitching in the pen than Laffey pitching on the mound.
Oh god this shitty ass story again?
Come on Kay.
BRACKMAAAAAAAANNNN!!!
Over/under 5 ER for Brackman? I say over.
BRACKMAN! oh shit it’s really happening.
I think Girardi just brought in Luis Ayala on stilts.
RAB set to explode…
Finally we get to see one of the Colossal Combo.
YESSSSSS!!!!!
Enjoy it guys have a goodnight.
Finally, what we’ve been waiting for for 21 days….One of the killer Bs….
C’mon, kid. Throw strikes!!!
Brack to the rack!
He needs to Charlie Sheen it and throw one to the backstop and create an aura….
Holy shit he is huge
Oh shit very nice.
That was cool
Andrew Brackman, not short.
Goodness that guy is tall
Cutter huh. Must have been talking to Mo.
Wow, he’s so efficient, maybe they should consider trying him in the rotation?
Former Yankee farmhand Dane De La Rosa on the bump.
man brackman is fucking huge
Andruw you stat padder.
Andruw Jones starts the comeback.
GJ Jones
Jones is 10 years older than me and I look older than he does
Jesus!
Yankees will win 14-13
Brackman gets his first win
That was Karl Krawfid
That throw still amazes me.
The the 2nd one of these is definitely better.
Brackman better come back out…..
What the fuck was that?
lol nice curve brackmoster
Brackman uncorked that one.
Me likey Brackman’s cutter.
looks to have some tremendous movement. (almost like a slider on a couple of them)
NC St? Brackleford! Brack to the rack!
So … this Matt Moore kid is pretty good.
“and Brackman walked him”
not the first time we’re gonna hear that one.
last time*
Prediction:
This is Brackman’s ‘Moonlight’ Graham moment.
He’ll be a 6’11 first-year dental school student by this time next year
is Betances getting an inning tonite?
Ok have Brackman finish this inning and have Dellin pitch the 8th and 9th. I’m greedy!!
I LOL’d when I heard about that Capuano thing.
Capuano for Iglesias
do it.
do it.
Uhhhhhhh
Iglesis is the next Ozzie Smith!
/Gammons’d
Yes!!! Dellin is warming!!!
Dellin warming up. OMG
this is the best 13-2 deficit ever.
I laughed.
Man, Brackman has some crazy movement on his fastball. No wonder he can’t control it for how much it dives
“He works into and out of trouble.”
Drink!
did HE work into trouble, or did Dickerson do it?
Did Banuelos ever get called up?
not on the 40 man
Him, Warren, and I believe Phelps will shag some fly balls and stuff like that before the game, and they’ll watch the game from the stands (obviously in very good seats) during the Red Sox series this weekend.
He didn’t because he reached his limit.
Andrew Brackman = T.J beam with a cutter.
What a downer….
I’m just saying.
He just reminds me of him with a good cutter and a better delivery.
I cannot believe I missed a Killer B…I got caught up in two of my favorite episodes of Futurama(Bender gets an Upgrade and the episode where Bender makes infinite copies of himself) and figured there would be a lot of Proctor/Valdes/Laffey…
Shame on you!
No, Brackman looked pretty good. He was in the zone for the most part, and he has a nice cutter.
Awesome, hopefully I can see some of Betances before Sunny and Archer start. I really really need to get a DVR.
Dellin Betancessssssss lets go
Is Brackman’s velocity really only 90-92? I expected more from a guy his size….
He was hitting 93 with his cutter, no need to pout.
Im not pouting, big guy, I’m merely inquiring about whether or not this outing is representative of his velocity. You hear a guy is 6’11″ you figure hes gonna be in the 95-97 range at least.
He has had some issues with velo this season.
a guy whos 6-11 only needs to throw low 90s with his massive downward plane
Excellent point. Trust me, I’m just curious.
Montero mashes
That ball just JUMPED off of his bat.
Jesus
Jesus saves.
Woooo for Montero
Jesus is stat padding.
Monterowillbemuchodinero!
jesus big night, but we still need to see betances
Montero with a 2-run double. He’s just padding his stats, he couldn’t come through with the bases loaded yesterday.
/A-rod’d
Jesus was lucky because that was unpredictable.
/Jim’d
Montero 3-3! yankees are makin it interesting
I officially have Zeus fever.
DELLIN COMING IN TO MAKE HIS DEBUT!!!!
Betances!!!
Well Detroit and Texas lost.
Would like to see the Angels close to within 3 and force Texas to burn a couple of starters in that final 3 game series…. of course if Detroit keeps losing that might just serve to help TB/Bos depending on who ends up as the 2 and 3 seeds
AHHH!!!!!!!! Betances!!!
Dellin and Brackmonster!!
DELLIN TIME!
Detroit lost tonight. Ya baltimore! 6 games lefty and 5up…winning
Game 3 starter? (j/k)
He has a live arm.
Detroit lost tonight. Ya baltimore! 6 games lefty and 5up right
Some douche in the front row with a Beckett jersey on
Please no walks Dellin…..
so much for that
Man what a nice game to watch.
Montero getting hits.
Betances and Brackman pitching.
Looks nervous…
Too wilddddd.
Dellin Charlie Sheen’ing it.
nice control!
Not cool Dellin…
Hahah poor Dell.
Dellin is literately unhittable
BBetances
So Cone says it’s his back leg collapsing which is the reason why he’s out of the zone. How can he fix that? Just curious.
Man if I could even pretend to answer that question I’d be a pitching coach somewhere right now.
Haha good point.
keep your weight shifted on your back leg longer so that your arm isn’t dragging behind your body as you deliver the ball? (disclaimer: I’m not an MLB pitching coach)
Relax, Dellin!
He’s about to kill someone, lol.
& just as i post that he plunks some1
wow
Better to experience this now.
Michael Kay bringing up Jeter?
Doesn’t surprise me.
And this is why Girardi didn’t bring this kid in a game that meant something. Girardi knows best.
I’m okay with Betances struggling with his command. Because he hasn’t seen a live batter in 3 weeks. Either way, any experience is good experience for him. Rothchild can see what he needs to work on and fix it over the winter.
He needs at least a year in AAA (possibly/probably 2)….
I don’t mind these Sept callups, but expectations are just way too high in terms of the timetable on some of these guys.
I’m fine with that. I didn’t think he was ready for the Bronx in April 2012, but now you can see what his mechanical issues are live, and versus real batters. The talent is there. The game just sped up for him, his mechanics got out of whack. All of which can be repaired. So, sure AAA for him next year until he can get those mechanics straightened out.
On a good note, Kontos looked pretty good, as did Brackman.
this is quite ugly
Well, at least Dellin was unhittable……
That was hard to watch.
Watching him reminded me of watching Dontrelle Willis last year with the D’backs. Even as my team was walking in run after run I felt bad for Dontrelle. Seeing a pitcher so frustrated is tough to watch. Unless its like….Beckett.
Or Papelbon . . . Or Lester . . . Or Lackey . . . Or Pedroia (should he ever decide to pitch)
Oh well, at least he never has to pitch for the first time in Yankee Stadium again.
Looked like he was overthrowing. Probably really anxious.
Not a good debut for Dellin, but he hasn’t exactly had much work over the past few weeks.
Hopefully he gets another chance to pitch before the season ends.
Good SO Kontos!
Now that Jesus is here I would love to be able to get a new version of the “Jesus is Coming” t-shirt except have it say “He is Risen”.
I have a couple of folks who would love those for Christmas.
The homeplate umpire has to be pissed right about now.
missed it what happened?
Nothing specific…. just the 50 walks with a game that is completely out of hand.
And now you have Gomes throwing curveball after curveball with a 7 run lead (and a 3-1 curve?)
Seeing Pena in the 4 hole is what my nightmares are made of.
These kids have put up 8 runs and counting. Gotta love it. LOL!!!

I was watching College Football but I heard about the Killer B’s
I heard that Brackman was good and Betances was Mr. Walk the Park.
Walk the park, frustrated, mechanics out of whack, hit a batter, just……ugly.
I’d chalk it up to nerves, playing in your hometown, in the big leagues for the 1st time. He lost it and could never slow himself down enough to get back on track. He tried to impress and ended up overthrowing and overcompensating and over….everythinging.
Plus there’s that 3 week rust thing too.
Simply put, he’s got some things to work on. I was glad to see Rothchild chatting with him on the bench after. I hope they give Betances another shot before the season ends, in another low-risk situation.
looks like the rays wanna make this game close
Ideally, our youngn’s continue to pad their statsand build their confidence and we lose 14-15, right?
Haha, looks like the Rays all caught whatever Dellin’s brought to the stadium.
Montero is making the adjustments on that breaking ball away.
Bring in Cano or A-Rod for Posada!
I know this isn’t a meaningful game, but I would love to see the comeback of all comebacks, just to see it!
Damn you Girardi!!!!!
Not that this game matters a whole lot but it would be nice to see the pitchers doing well considering the post season is a week away.
None of these guys will see any PS action.
Goddamn it. Could have made it interesting.
I predict that that’s Jorge’s last at bat of his career batting right handed.
We need Tampa to want to win this game. We need them sharp for this weekend. We gave them a great batting practice session earlier. Their bullpen needs to stiffen up and win this thing.
Could you imagine being in Boston and watching this score tonight??? LOL!!!!
Tampa needs to win 5 more games this year, including this one.
Question is, can the yankees take 2 of 3 or sweep boston this weekend? Hope so
I have a feeling that we won’t see this lineup or group of pitchers again until game 162.
Nice pitching, Kontos!!!!
3 more outs.
So at midnight will this be a Game Recap or a Down on the Farm?
Bazzinga.
I feel like it should be a Game Recap entitled “The Farm in the Bronx.” Or maybe “Field Trip to the Bronx.”
C’mon Toronto, you gotta have one more run in you!!!!
And that’s how you end a game.
Nice try, kids!!!! You did your jobs well. LOL!!!
Would’ve never thought that the “B” team would score 8 runs. Positive note on the day and of course the rays winning and tigers losing too
And not a single fuck was given this day
Bye bye Angles.
But the Angels are still here..
3 games back now, with 6 to go.
We need to beat Boston in at least 2 games. Then the fun really starts.
Encarnacion, your walkoff blast better be the death knell for the Halos.
Damn, looks like a well played game, sorry I missed it.
The Rays just got lucky, damn those lucky bastards.
hah hah – not quite sure why people got angry, never really get the lack of civility driven by anonymity…but what really happened tonight, the Rays just wanted it more ?
