Cust homers twice in wild Triple-A win

By

Russell Branyan has been activated off the DL and sent to High-A Tampa. I suppose that if Brett Gardner‘s elbow injury continues to linger, the Yankees could use Raul Ibanez in left with Branyan at DH but … I don’t want to think about that. Not right now anyway. Get well soon, Brett.

In other old player news, Ramon Ortiz is your Triple-A International League Pitcher of the Week. I’m sure he’s thrilled.

LF Ramon Flores & C J.R. Murphy: both 1-5, 1 2B
DH Russell Branyan: 1-3, 2 R, 1 2B, 2 BB, 1 K — typical Russ Branyan night, some walks, a strikeout, and some power

1B Kyle Roller: 1-4, 1 R, 1 HR, 1 RBI, 2 K — game-tying solo homer with one out in the top of the ninth
CF Eduardo Sosa & SS Jose Mojica: both 1-3, 1 K — Sosa drove in a run and three a runner out at the plate … Mojica walked
LHP Kramer Sneed: 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 2 K, 5/3 GB/FB — seven runs allowed in his last 20.1 IP, lowering his ERA to 5.46

Double-A Trenton‘s game was suspended due to rain with two outs in the top of the fifth and the score tied at three. Here’s the box score, I’ll update the stats when they complete the game tomorrow.

Low-A Charleston‘s game was also suspended due to rain, though the River Dogs were up 7-6 with two outs in the bottom of the third. Here’s the box score, I’ll update the stats when they finish the game tomorrow.

Does Austin have legit SB speed, up to 13

    • Jeb says:

No, his speed is unremarkable. The SB total is supposed to be a result of good reads and baseball instincts according to scouting reports.

      • All Praise Be To Mo says:

Possibly a Paul O’Neill clone in RF in a couple years? I know that’s setting the bar high but good bat, decent speed, good instincts.

  4. Jonathan says:

Colin Curtis!!!! the king of the pinch hit big hit. He hit that huge HR after taking over for Gardner in a 0-2 count. Crazy..
