Robertson throws perfect inning in first rehab appearance

By

Sidelined with an oblique strain for the last month, David Robertson made his first minor league rehab appearance for Triple-A Empire State this afternoon. He retired all three batters he faced — grounder to second, strikeout, fly ball to right — and threw eight of eleven pitches for strikes. Assuming he feels fine tonight and tomorrow, Robertson will probably make another rehab outing early next week. Joe Girardi indicated that his setup man could rejoin the team in time for next weekend’s series in Washington.

Yay for D-Rob. He’s become one of my favorite Yankees. There’s just something awesome about the shortish (for a pitcher/baseball player) guy that somehow has one of the longest strides. Plus the awesome K rates help. Also a fan of the high socks. We’ll see ya soon Dave!

2 balls in play? Very disappointing.

Bust. Montgomery would have struck out the side.

He looked good. He threw both his fastball and curve. He went to a 3-0 count on the 2nd batter then threw 3 swinging strikes for his strikeout. He also got a groundout to 2nd, and short pop fly to right.

A 1-2-3 inning for D-Rob? Something still must be wrong.

With D Rob coming back, if Joba and Aardsma can return to anything close to their former selves this year, the bullpen is going to be just vicious even without God at the back end.

And next year too. Aardsma, Joba, Robertson, Soriano (if he doesn’t opt out), Mo. That would have to be the best bullpen we’ve seen in a long, long time.

Waiting for tomorrow when they announce the inevitable setback.

What ever happened to that left handed reliever we signed that was formerly a Met. Pedro Feliciano?

    • Manny’s BanWagon

I think his left arm fell off and he’s tying to learn how to pitch right handed.

        That’s Bizarro-Venditte.
