Update: Andy Pettitte leaves game with tight left trap

By

10:53pm: After the game, Joe Girardi said the Yankees aren’t too concerned about the injury. They just took Pettitte out as a precaution. It’s unclear if he’ll make his next start, however.

9:51pm: Pettitte left the game with a tight left trap, the team announced. That’s the muscle in the upper back, kinda between the neck and shoulder blade. No word on a timetable or tests or anything.

8:32pm: Andy Pettitte left tonight’s game with an apparent injury with two outs in the fifth. He threw 79 pitches and struck out the two batters he faced in the inning. Replays didn’t show anything obvious, yet Joe Girardi and trainer Steve Donohue came out to chat. Pettitte left the game without throwing any test pitches. He missed a start last month with a stiff back. Stay tuned for updates.

He missed a start last month with a stiff bat? I thought everyone’s bat was stiff.

  8. Laz says:

Could be good for him to miss a few starts. He really hasn’t had it the past few starts, something is wrong.

  9. LennonJames says:

Poor Michael Pineda. Commenters on this site have him taking the place of Nova (before Phelps did well,) Hughes, and now Pettitte. He is going to have to pitch 4 days a week!

  10. Andy Pettitte's Chiropractor says:

Wasn’t Noesi the throw-in for Pineda?

AP’s last start was what I would say Pettitte-esque (7IP 5H 2R 2ER 1BB 7K) … the two before that (one them being a 10 hit turd vs the Astros) not so much….

    Jamie Moyer…come out of retirement!

All these injuries would not behappening if gene monihan was still the trainer. Groin pulls, back injuries , oblique strains. If George werearound he would fire Stevie donohue

    Nuno? Wang? Nova ? Pineda?

  13. Robinson Tilapia says:

In other words, he left the game with “I’m 40.”

I’m doing worrying. The 2013 Yankee magic door will pop open with a suitable temporary replacement. This is why they hate us.

I love working out traps. Shrugs are one of my favorite workouts. I actually did shoulders/traps and legs today but I might have overdone it and my neck is sore now. Wait what are we talking about?
