McCarron: Granderson and Nix will start rehab assignments tomorrow

Via Anthony McCarron: Both Curtis Granderson (hand) and Jayson Nix (hamstring) will begin minor league rehab assignments with High-A Tampa tomorrow. Nix actually played for one of the Rookie GCL Yanks teams today, going 0-for-2 with a hit-by-pitch while playing five innings at third base. Granderson confirmed he will be with Tampa through the weekend, and I assume he’ll need a longer rehab stint than Nix given the nature of their injuries. Both guys have been getting at-bats in simulated games this week.

The way things are going, I guarantee one of them re-injures themselves before making it all the way back.

      I say Nix, Grandy’s already had two…

Imagine if Andrew Brackman puts a fastball in a bad spot and one of those guys has a setback?

Lynch mobs. That’s what will happen.

Luckily we don’t have any affiliates in the Carolina League.

I just assumed Nix getting hit by a pitch has already resulted in something breaking.

Let’s hope they don’t join the Quad Squad.

There are two spots still open…

        That’s what I’m worried about.

What if they both come back for the last 50 games and play as one would expect from them? The Yanks are only 3.5 games out of the wildcard even with the injuries and the bottom tier offense. As dreadful as this season has been, it could also be glorious, as much of a long shot as it is now. Above all, for that reason, The Yanks need Jeter back. Maybe, just maybe they have one run left in them. A little faith, people!

Nix won’t add much. Granderson could be a big boost. But yes, i agree it would be pretty amazing and gratifing for the Yankees to make the playoffs after all the injuries they’ve sustained this year.

  • Crime Dog

Wonder when Cashman is gonna say that Granderson needs to STFU.

In all seriousness, I’m excited to have both these guys back. Granderson would instantly become the 2nd best hitter in the lineup, and Nix has been missed, amazingly.

Who is this Granderson fellow? It sounds familiar……

    • Havok9120

Didn’t we pick him up last weekend for Melky and IPK?

He has big shoes to fill.

I’d send Nixy right to AAA. The duo of Lillibridge and Nuney won the ballgame for us last night. Don’t want to break that chemistry.

Granderson is the big bat we need back. With him, Soriano and Robbie we’d have a decent middle of the order again.
