Jeter will play five innings with Triple-A Scranton on Thursday

Derek Jeter will play five innings at shortstop for Triple-A Scranton tomorrow night, Joe Girardi confirmed. Donnie Collins hears the Cap’n may remain with the RailRiders on Friday as well. Jeter has been playing in simulated games in Tampa as he works his way back from a calf strain. Given how quickly he hurt himself the last two times he came off the DL, the Yankees will probably take it a little more slowly with Jeter this time around.

    Why rush it?
I’m thinking Sept 1st is a more realistic target date.

Just another aging vet taking at-bats away from the future.

We’ve had to hurry up and wait this long… and I’m in the “take it slow” camp, too. But jeez Jeetz 10 more days is too long to wait! Especially given the hole we need to climb over! That’s prolly what you meant to say, right Hav? :) GO Yanks!

id say keep him off of the field until we come back to the stadium cause if they activate him during the tampa series or toronto series the artificial surface could injure him again

    Come back soon Cap’n!

We could have really used Mike Gallego ’93 this year.
