Sunday Night Open Thread

Here is your open thread for the night. The Pirates and Cardinals are playing Game Three of their NLDS right now on TBS (Francisco Liriano vs. Joe Kelly) while the Braves and Dodgers will do the same at 8pm ET on TBS (Julio Teheran vs. Hyun-Jin Ryu). Texans-49ers is the late NFL game. You folk know these things operate by now, so have at it.

    Soooooooooo, how ’bout them Giants?

    • Bob Buttons says:

Certainly glad I didn’t impulse-buy the NFL equivalent of mlb.tv, to say the least.

More precisely. WTH WTH WTH WTH WTH.
Feels like this year’s Yankees, in a way. Shitload of injuries, refusal to get clear upgrades, insistence of how they’re good and shitload of underperforming by key players.

    • forensic says:

I think Eli has completed more passes to opponents than to teammates.

Also, the defense has held the opponent scoreless in just one of their last 15 quarters (the 1st quarter against the Chiefs). That’s amazingly bad.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

They’ve always have had mediocre coordinators running the team. Killdrive is using an outdated offense that is so old that it was considered outdated in the 1980s. Buddy Ryan punched him in the face for his schemes.

Fewell still believes his front four is made up of all of famers and refuses to blitz even though the Giants have the least amount of sacks in the league.

Coughlin refuses to play the players that Jerry Reese brings in causing a complete disconnect between your head coach and GM. People have often wondered why the Giants are so inconsistent but there you go. The media flat out refuses to accept the Giants staff is awful which is why they’re still asking David Ortiz why the Giants are what they are.

  2. Bob Buttons says:

    RIP 2013-14 NYG.

  3. mustang says:

Why are they even bothering pitching to Beltran in critical situations?

    Beltran + playoffs = $$$$$$

    • Pat D says:

Because they remember the end of the 2006 NLCS, too.

    • JobaWockeeZ says:

Not getting Beltran because of postseason performance was a flawed argument.

But why the fuck did we refuse on getting Beltran not once, but twice?

      • mustang says:

“The New York Yankees were tipped as favorites and Beltr├ín allegedly offered them a $19 million discount. The Yankees declined and the crosstown New York Mets”

        I’m still mad at George.

  4. KEN says:

Sources close to the Cubs and others close to Girardi told the Sun-Times in the last week that the sides have expressed mutual interest through back channels in recent weeks.

If the sides have expressed mutual interest through back channels in recent weeks. Is not that tampering? Since Joe’s contract expires end of the month.

  5. Betty Lizard says:

    Russell Martin, True Catcher!

  6. Tom says:

Tony Romo – career game going and when the game is on the line you can always count on him…

    …to make a mistake.

  7. Pinkie Pie says:

    Hyun-Jin Ryu’s off to a great start.

  8. Pinkie Pie says:

Did I mishear, or is Adrian Gonzalez’s walk-up song really “El Mariachi Loco”? The only Mexican song more stereotypical than that is “The Mexican Hat Dance”.

  9. WhittakerWalt says:

    “Bern, baby, burn”

I could be wrong, but I think Bernie was the first player to get the Sterling catchphrase treatment. That was the beginning of the end.

  10. Pinkie Pie says:

It’s like Julio Teheran and Hyun-Jin Ryu are trying to see who can shit the bed harder.

  11. mustang says:

0-5 and they are only 2 back on the lost side from the divison lead.

As long as Romo is in Dallas hope lives!!!!!

  12. Robinson Tilapia says:

The guy I played FF against today kept Romo on his bench and is currently trailing me by about 50 points. He would have practically made that up by swapping him and Matthew Stafford.
