Game 19: Win it for Ivan

These last two days have been really rough on the Yankees. The Rays blew them out twice and decimated their bullpen in the process, all leading up to today’s spot start by Vidal Nuno. He hasn’t pitched in 12 days. Joe Girardi said he will be happy if they get 75 pitches out of him this afternoon, so the bullpen will be pressed into duty again.

Thankfully, the Yankees are off tomorrow and they will have a chance to catch their breath. These last two days have been pretty rough. Grabbing a win to earn a series split and halt the little losing streak before the off-day would make for a pretty good Sunday afternoon. Things are pretty hectic right now but they aren’t as bad as it seems. Here is the Rays lineup and here is the Yankees lineup:

  1. CF Jacoby Ellsbury
  2. SS Derek Jeter
  3. RF Carlos Beltran
  4. DH Alfonso Soriano
  5. 1B Mark Teixeira
  6. 3B Yangervis Solarte
  7. LF Brett Gardner
  8. 2B Brian Roberts
  9. C John Ryan Murphy
    LHP Vidal Nuno

It’s hot and humid in the Tampa area, but there’s no rain. Doesn’t really matter though. Tropicana Field has a dome. First pitch is scheduled for 1:40pm ET and you can watch live on YES locally and MLB Network nationally. Enjoy.

Roster Moves: As expected, Mark Teixeira (hamstring) was activated off the 15-day DL while both Preston Claiborne and Bryan Mitchell were called up. To make room on the roster, Ivan Nova (elbow) was placed on the 15-day DL, Scott Sizemore was optioned to Triple-A, and Matt Daley was designated for assignment.

  1. Winter says:

This game has disaster written all over it. Exhausted bullpen that has looked awful the last two days, spot starter who hasn’t pitched in almost two weeks, playing against the Rays in the Trop (which always sucks). Luckily, baseball games never seem to turn out the way anyone expects them too. Who knows what will happen today?

  2. JGYank says:

I’m glad I missed the last two games (I’m behind on a research paper). Wouldn’t have been able to watch those at all. Hopefully this one goes our way, but I’ll probably miss this one too. As for Nova, it sucks for him and the team, but a 5 man rotation never stays healthy throughout the season and we do have some options to replace him with. Could be worse. At least Tex is back and Drob will be here in a few days. The pen has different guys everyday but it wasn’t supposed to be the strength of our team. If we have our starters go deep into games, Drob, Kelley and Thornton should do fine.

  3. Wheels says:

Just win and get the hell out of Tampa.

  4. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Matt Daley ended up being the sacrificial lamb after all following whichever night it was he crapped the bed. One appearance does not a pitcher make, and I hope he chooses to return to AAA. Can he refuse an assignment at this point?

Once we heard Sizemore had the option, I’d figure they’d go with Anna. Do not fret, Team Sizemore. You can’t keep that animal caged for long.

If we pray for anything on 4/20 Easter, it’s to not have a Bryan Mitchell mop-up appearance. That could make the past two games look like the 2009 World Series.

    It gets better.

    • forensic says:

He told Chad Jennings that he does have an option left, but he’s in some weird contract situation where they had to DFA him to get him to AAA. He said he does hope to be able to end up there though.

  5. forensic says:

Not thrilled with the lineup, but hopefully they can still do some work against Ramos. I’m just not sure if it’ll be enough given Nuno and Mitchell pitching for the Yankees (and the couple of not pretty spots in that lineup).

Here’s hoping they somehow pull out a split though!

  6. Dalek Jeter says:

I’ve figured out why we’ve lost the last few games: We’ve gone very easy on the Prussia dedication so today: Für König, für das Vaterland widmen wir diesen Sieg zu Ehren des preußischen Königreich!

  7. robbiewho? says:

typical series at Tampa, place is a dump to play. But honestly even though the season is early, there is something special about this team. Even with a couple bullpen meltdowns, Yanks are gonna do big things this year

  8. Capo says:

God, I can’t wait until they get out of the Trop. I can’t stand how many of our fly balls are just dying on the warning track here this series.

  9. Cuso says:

Oh, that’s what a pick at 1B looks like.

  10. forensic says:

Numbers don’t lie, John??? Yeah, those numbers in 3(!) career starts and 17 innings mean everything!

  11. forensic says:

That helps, especially when it’s hit within Jeter’s ‘range’.

  12. forensic says:

I see we’re going to have way too much Meredith today.

    • lou says:

I know geez we need to hear the same story told in 10 different ways.

“Well I spoke to Nova toady and he felt upbeat”
“I spoke to nova today and he’s upset he can’t help the team like this but will take it one day at a time”

Please get rid of her I can’t stay her and her voice and the SAME NEWS told in 10 different way 40 times over and over and over.

“I spoke to Joe today he’s upset but hey it’s baseball”

      GTFO

  13. nycsportzfan says:

    Nice hitting Tex!

  14. forensic says:

Wow, Tex even went to the wrong side of 2B!

  15. nycsportzfan says:

Gardy and Tex with oppo field hits. I love that!

  16. johnnysteeler says:

    Happy 53rd to Donnie Baseball

  17. BigBlueAL says:

Id rather have Sizemore at 3b and Solarte at 2b vs a LH SP. Wish they wouldve found a way to keep Sizemore on the roster for now.

    • johnnysteeler says:

      Easy – dump Roberts

      • BigBlueAL says:

With Tex back meaning Johnson is back to 3b Im curious to see how long a leash they give Roberts considering Solarte’s emergence. Im sure it will be a pretty long one though.

        • johnnysteeler says:

Until Ryan is ready I guess. Then it’s either Anna or Roberts to go.

          • forensic says:

No doubt, Anna will go when Ryan is ready. They’ve always said the only reason he made the roster is as Ryan’s replacement as the backup SS. Roberts isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

    • lou says:

Wish they would fine a way to get full time players who can all together play a whole week without a day off….

  18. Wheels says:

    Bummer.

  19. Farewell Mo says:

Brian Roberts looks like he’s toast. Maybe they can sign Jed Lowie next offseason. .

    • forensic says:

I can’t help but put some of that on Girardi right now. Sitting the guy after he finally has a big 3-4 day? Way to actively try to screw him up.

  20. forensic says:

Geez, Flaherty, is there anything you can come up with that isn’t wrong? Longoria’s 26 HR vs. the Yankees are 9 more than any other active player??? Just to name one, Ortiz has 39 homers against the Yankees.

  21. nycsportzfan says:

How do you not love Nuno? This guy throws everything and he pitches between like 70mph and 90mph.lol

  22. nycsportzfan says:

Also, Nuno has such a free and easy pitching motion.

  23. vicki says:

rays’ bats are just tired, i guess.

  24. Cuso says:

I can’t wait to not listen to Dewayne Staats, Brian Anderson & Todd Kalas

  25. BigBlueAL says:

Alot of 1st pitch swinging by the Yankees.

  26. forensic says:

    Everybody swing 1st pitch!

  27. Cuso says:

Jeter caught a couple breaks here; take advantage

  28. Mick taylor says:

I turned off the t.v Friday night when I saw Joe west crew was umpiring. Yanks almost never win series when his crew umps. This goes back at least10 years, including his reversing the arod interference play against the red sox which probably gave the series to the sox.. Not that reversing that call or the earlier red sox foul ball call were wrong , but it was unprecedented. The arod play should not have been reversedas baseball is littered countless close or blown calls not reversed.Likewise, in the playoffs he made calls such as ruling the runner safe at second because cano did the phantom tag. Therehave been countless closeplays in games where he almostalwaysrules against yanks. At least with instant replay the fat fuck will not be able to get away with it as much

    • Cuso says:

Joe West is with a different crew this year. He was with Bob Davidson two years ago when Girardi got tossed only 3 times that year – all with that crew (and all against the Tigers I believe).

    • Sweetness says:

That crew had Thursday’s game too. I suppose you kept the TV on for that game.

  29. Wheels says:

The Trop just sucks the life out of everyone.

  30. forensic says:

Come on, Beltran! Yanks need a big hit here!

  31. Scarfonso says:

Sucks about Nova. Although, let’s not forget that DJ Mitchell is ready and available – and I don’t think he’d mind geting out of his contract with the Bridgeport Bluefish: http://www.pointstreak.com/bas.....rid=607061

  32. nycsportzfan says:

    Nuno beasting!.lol

  33. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

    ALPHONSO!!!

  34. forensic says:

Wow Sori, no hop, skip, and double toe-tap???

  35. Cuso says:

All hell just broke loose in Pittsburgh.

Carlos Gomez the lightning Rod again

    • forensic says:

      What happened?

Not surprised in the least though, Gomez is an enormous shithead.

      • johnnysteeler says:

Tripled then started mouthing off at Gerrit Cole.

      • Cuso says:

Gomez hit a deep fly to center off Gerritt Cole and walked it off.

It hit the base of the wall. Gomez still got a triple. Cole started talking shit at Gomez, Gomez comes off the base and came at him.

        Benches cleared punches thrown.

  36. nycsportzfan says:

Texy having a good game. Now its time to get this run in.

  37. robbiewho? says:

Nuno looking good, hope it holds second time through the lineup

  38. nycsportzfan says:

Holy shit, crazy brawl between brew crew and pirates.lol

  39. nycsportzfan says:

    Hell yeah, Sori!!!!

  40. robbiewho? says:

Yanks hitting it hard…just right at people. If Nuno can hold Yanks will break this one open

  41. WhittakerWalt says:

    Worst Sterling call EVER.

  42. robbiewho? says:

thats an inside park home run….the fielder tried to sell it as a catch and the runner kept going

  43. Wheels says:

How could the umps get that wrong in the first place?

  44. robbiewho? says:

not an ground rule double if the fielder pretends to catch it and not throw it back in

  45. nsalem says:

This is interesting. Myers knew he didn’t catch the ball so he should he not be held responsible knowing he didn’t get catch it and Gardner is given the Home Run.

  46. nycsportzfan says:

    Wow, what the fuck!

  47. forensic says:

    Son of a bitch!!!

Please have hit the wall first!

  48. Long-Past-His-Day-Rod says:

They should give Gardner the inside the parker for running it out.

  49. Wheels says:

    Nice!!

  50. nycsportzfan says:

Gardy driving in runs this yr.

  51. nycsportzfan says:

Fuck you Myers, you cheater!!lol Gardy gets er done! Thank god for Replay!

  52. forensic says:

Now, stupid umpire discretion will possibly mess up where Gardy ends up. At least it’ll get a run home, if nothing else.

    • forensic says:

Yup, he likely should’ve been at 3rd, but they treat him like some normal baserunner and just leave him at 2nd. That blows.

  53. Lukaszek says:

    Yo umpires, check dat catch!

  54. Grit for Brains says:

How on earth is that not a homerun???????

  55. Alkaline says:

I don’t agree with the placement at all. It was Myer’s choice to not throw the ball in to stop Gardy. Any league I played where an outfielder tried trapping the ball, the runner kept on going if the umpire didn’t call the out until they threw the ball in.

  56. marechal says:

Wow, this is ridiculous. You are basically rewarding the outfielder for trying to trick the umpires.

  57. Farewell Mo says:

Should be an inside the park home run. Myers knew he didn’t catch it. Yanks shouldn’t be penalized for rays failed attempt at cheating.

  58. JMK says:

That’s bullshit. It should clearly be an inside-the-park home run.

  59. nycsportzfan says:

Damn, I thought off the bat, it was leaving the yard. How’d that stay in the park? I’m happy we got a lead though.

  60. Axis of Mike says:

Can anybody explain the rule on that? If the ball hits the fence, it’s… what? Why wasn’t it either an out or a dinger?

    • forensic says:

The yellow line is above the fence, which is still in play. On the replay, it’s umpire’s discretion on where to place Gardner.

  61. Captain Turbohiro Tanaka says:

Don’t understand why that’s a ground rule double. The ball was still in play and Gardner crossed home so the run should count.

  62. vicki says:

    there goes the nuno-no.

  63. robbiewho? says:

Only silver lining is without replay they would have called that a catch, so even though Gardner got jobbed out of what should be an inside the park home run, at least the Yanks got one run instead of none

    • Sweetness says:

No way in hell that if Myers plays that ball live and does not try to fake out the umps by selling a catch that Gardy acquires home on that play.

  64. nycsportzfan says:

John Flaherty is one dumb ass dude. I’m sorry if that offends some of you that like em, but my god.

    • forensic says:

I’m sorry if that offends some of you that like em

I don’t think you have anything to worry about there.

      • nycsportzfan says:

He said how he didn’t understand why Gardner wasen’t allowed to score, as you assume Myers knew he didn’t catch that.

Uhhh, hey John, thats the problem, you can’t assume Myers knew he caught it.

    • John Flaherty says:

      Phuck you you phitty pheller.

  65. Alkaline says:

So I know no one cares about my fantasy team, but I now have 6 people who hit the DL this year since Nova did. This is Bolshevik.

  66. nycsportzfan says:

Look where longo’s standing, go outside and low nuno!

  67. nycsportzfan says:

    Sit down Longo! Yeah!!!!

  68. Captain Turbohiro Tanaka says:

Wil Myers will now try to sell a foul tip as a home run.

  69. nsalem says:

Don’t let Myers beat you. With Loney on deck.

  70. nycsportzfan says:

Okay, way to battle Nuno! You da man!

  71. robbiewho? says:

    nice!

  72. nycsportzfan says:

Wow, Nuno losing it quick here. 4pitch walk to Brandon Guyer? Thats the kinda stuff that bites you directly in the butt cheek.

  73. Cuso says:

Brandon’s last name makes me think of Kevin Millar.

    I wanna punch him.

  74. forensic says:

They’re starting to square up Nuno a bit. Glad the bullpen is getting going.

    • forensic says:

And clearly his control is going too. Hopefully the change doesn’t come too late. Certainly can’t let him go much longer, at least not to Rodriguez, who has an annoying tendency to destroy Yankee lefties.

  75. forensic says:

I don’t know why, but it really bugs me how everytime Flaherty says ‘Larry Rothschild’ he feels the innate need to say ‘The Pitching Coach’, like it’s one full name.

  76. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Please don’t have me have to sit through Bryan Mitchell today. It’s fucking Easter.

  77. johnnysteeler says:

Running out of gas. Get pen working quick.

  78. Cuso says:

He’s going to start the 6th inning, too.

  79. forensic says:

Whew, great job Nuno and Murphy! Terrific plan that Ab!

  80. nycsportzfan says:

Thank god, I coulden’t take Ryan Hanigan beating us back to back days.

  81. nycsportzfan says:

Way to fucking battle, Nuno! 5shutout innings! Just like last yr for the crafty lefty!

  82. forensic says:

I don’t care that he’s one out away from qualifying for the win. No way I would let him face Rodriguez here. Hopefully it doesn’t come back to bite them.

  83. nsalem says:

    Oh Oh Rodriguez

  84. robbiewho? says:

5 scoreless from Nuno??? take that all day

    • nycsportzfan says:

Hes extremely crafty. He pitches fast, and can differ his MPH by quite a bit(70′s-89) and has 3pitches. He can certainly help. Also, he peppers the strikezone.

  85. nycsportzfan says:

Beltran with a infield single..lol I’ll take it!

  86. johnnysteeler says:

He’s done his job. Now for bullpen to sort themselves out.

  87. Cuso says:

    Nice hustle, Carlos

  88. forensic says:

    Beltran with the wheels!

  89. forensic says:

A lined shot base hit to CF??? It was a groundball that just avoided the shift.

  90. nycsportzfan says:

Sexy Texy with multi hit game! I guess it was a good idea to play him today instead of wait till Boston series. Good call Joe.

  91. forensic says:

    Terrible strike call there.

  92. nycsportzfan says:

I’d love to have McGee in our bullpen. A terrible call by the ump though on that 1-1 pitch to Solarte.

As much as I think McGee’s good, I really hope we get him today.

  93. forensic says:

Screw you Myers, I’m getting tired of your shit!

  94. robbiewho? says:

alright Meyers that was a good REAL catch

  95. nycsportzfan says:

Jesus Christ, the ball just woulden’t freaking hit the ground!

  96. forensic says:

    Ugh…

  97. forensic says:

Come on Gardy! Got a third hit in you today?

  98. nycsportzfan says:

Gardner just missed to great pitches to hit. Hes pretty much screwed now.

  99. nycsportzfan says:

God, I want this game! After the last 2games, how nice would it be, after all that, to of given nothing to the rays but a split?

  100. forensic says:

Ok Phelps, channel the you that faced the Red Sox, not the you from the rest of the season.

  101. robbiewho? says:

    lets go Phelps

  102. nycsportzfan says:

So far, so good, for Phelpsy here. He might be able to go multi innings if he gets this last guy out.

    • forensic says:

I certainly give him a shot in the 7th. He’ll have Loney as a lefty, and maybe a pinch-hitter in Joyce/Dejesus, but he did well that inning. If it lines up right, maybe try Thornton against one of those PHer’s, but I haven’t built up much faith in him yet.

      • nycsportzfan says:

Welp, hopefully we get that faith in Thornton built a bit today, because hes coming in.lol Solid 1.1 outta Phelpsy.

  103. nycsportzfan says:

People always talk about Betances command, but Phelps is always behind in the count it seems, and he does walk guys. I’m more nervous when Phelps is out there then Betances. I love me some Phelps, but he makes me mad nervous.

I’m a diehard Irish fan as well.

    • Bryguy084 says:

Same here! ND student, so I’m pulling double for BGDP! It’s tough though, with how he’s always behind in the count. Ugh

  104. nsalem says:

Guess Nuno will go next Saturday,

  105. nycsportzfan says:

The Captain can ball at SS, I don’t give a fuck what anyone says! Hes having a great yr in the field so far!

  106. Wheels says:

    niceee.

  107. forensic says:

    Fall-down range FTW!!!

  108. Sweetness says:

    Jeter says Fuck the Haters

  109. Cuso says:

Man, I think we forget how much we need Tex

  110. Cuso says:

JR Murphy is going yard here.

John Ryan can kiss my butt

  111. robbiewho? says:

time for Roberts to sit for a while

  112. forensic says:

The YES cameras keep missing the first base ump making the call on the appeals. They gotta be a little quicker on the switch over there.

  113. nycsportzfan says:

    Jesus, McGee is tough.

  114. forensic says:

No Flaherty, it’s not all about Maddon knowing his bullpen better than ‘we’ do. It’s about you being a dumbass and refusing to look at numbers, such as the reverse splits that both McGee and Peralta have.

  115. nycsportzfan says:

Come on Yanks, lets get us a shutout today. 1-0 WIN would be kinda neat, after giving up so many runs the past 2games. Takes alot of the built up momentum away from the Rays.

  116. forensic says:

Guess Cano didn’t like that he was on the verge of dropping under both a .250 BA and .300 OBP today as he put two hits on the board. Of course, he was also caught stealing, which I’ll never understand why he seemingly continues trying to run periodically.

  117. forensic says:

Nice Phelps, now a lefty and then maybe PH lefties. This is where it gets interesting…

Ok, guess not that interesting, decision-wise. Phelps was rolling, not a huge fan of this move, but I guess if you’re going to have a Thornton on your team you might as well use him now (though he’s going to face righties after Loney). I just don’t have faith in him yet.

  118. nsalem says:

Yes. Everyone was raving about the new and improved Smoak after the first week of the season but he seems to have returned to his former self. I’m shedding crocodile tears. We will see them close up in about 8 days. Should be fun.

  119. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Ryan Roucco in the Bob Lorenz role today?

    • forensic says:

He was there yesterday too. Don’t know if he took the back-up job from Shearn/Newman, but if so, Awesome! (even though I know almost nothing about Ruocco, he can’t possibly be worse than Newman)

      • Wheels says:

He co-hosts a radio show with Stephen A. Smith, and he’s pretty decent. Seems to have a brain.

      • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Longtime NYC radio guy. Hosts early afternoon show with Stephen A. Smith. Not terrible. Face definitely for radio.

        I like Nancy.

        • forensic says:

Yeah, I googled him yesterday since I was getting him confused with Ryan Hurley from The Michael Kay Show and Ryen Russillo from the SVP show.

          Too damn many Ryans!

          • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Hurley’s the producer you only heard called out every five minutes, usually as a punchline, on the Kay show.

  120. nycsportzfan says:

Freaking Thornton! Now he starts Guyer off with a ball.

  121. forensic says:

Ugh, and there’s the problem. Thornton fails to do his most important job, get the lefty out, and now he’s stuck facing a bunch of righties with a guy on base and still two outs to go.

  122. robbiewho? says:

oh boy here goes Girardi tinkering too much with the bullpen trying to be smarter than Madden.

    • nsalem says:

I would put in a decent performing lefty against Loney every chance I could.

      • robbiewho? says:

yup worked like a charm. I get the logic…but with the bullpen getting destroyed the last two games, Phelps coulda pitched a couple more innings…esp being the 7th inning and their was no one in scoring position. Now another change. Girardi does this a couple times a year where he tries to be too cool for the room with match ups and it usually doesn’t end well

  123. forensic says:

    Damnit Roberts!!!

    You piece of shit!

  124. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Oh, Brian. That could be game-changing.

    • forensic says:

No matter what, it is game-changing. It forces Warren in really early and they have to somehow get 8 outs from Warren and Kelley starting with two guys on base without allowing any runs to score. This is serious trouble right now. REALLY need another grounder from Escobar here.

  125. forensic says:

Someone tell these dumbasses that dropping it on the transfer no longer counts as a catch.

  126. Winter says:

Those are some good pitching matchups coming up this week.

  127. forensic says:

No Flaherty, it’s not only umpire’s decision now because it’s the 7th inning.

Seriously, how does he keep this job???

  128. nycsportzfan says:

Roberts can’t do anything right. So sick and tired of watching him swing at garbage in the dirt and then the dude can’t even make as routine a catch and transfer are your gonna get? Maybe him being fairly healthy this yr is a bad thing?

  129. nycsportzfan says:

    Fuck you Roberts! FUCK YOU!

  130. Winter says:

How has no one in the YES booth heard about the new transfer rule? Knowing about baseball is literally their job.

    • nsalem says:

      Tell that to Mike Francessa.

    • Mikhel says:

And now it seems that rule is gonna be changed to what it used to be, because it is a dumb rule, if you already made the catch THEN it is a catch, but right now it is not a catch even if you took various steps and later dropped it trying to get it out of the glove.

  131. nycsportzfan says:

I can’t even watch right now. If they give up runs here, i’m jumping on a flight to Tampa, and gonna blow on roberts, and break his leg!

  132. forensic says:

I’m getting a very Greg-like feeling of this game unraveling like Friday did.

  133. nycsportzfan says:

Thanks Roberts. Thanks alot, you fucking asshole!

  134. Cuso says:

Ugh. The fall down range giveth and the fall down range….

  135. Cuso says:

    Ugh, noodle arm Beltran.

Lol, Loney was actually galloping he is so slow

  136. nycsportzfan says:

Also, lets not let Girardi off the hook here, the idiot should of kept Phelps in the game, he was pitching extremely well. Baseball managers are so stupid, with there locked in situations. Do these guys have any instincts at all?

  137. Mykey says:

Yeah Roberts, it’s just not working out.

  138. nycsportzfan says:

Welp, thanks to a combonation of Giardi and piece of shit Roberts, its now a tie game. God fucking damn it!

    • Winter says:

What did Giardi do this time?

      • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

        Not enough “r”‘s.

        *waits for applause*

      • nycsportzfan says:

Girardi should of never took Phelps out for Warren. He was pitching really well, and you burned your one lefty in the pen. Thank god, when they started pinch hitting for all there lefties, it didn’t bite us, but it could have.

      • robbiewho? says:

just some unnecessary tinkering with the bullpen. Phelps was doing fine and then Binder Joe struck a little too early with trying to do match ups with a depleted bullpen. Problem now, its a tie game and two innings to go. Not much left in the bullpen

      • Mikhel says:

He took Phelps out because RHP can not dominate LHB, got a LHP (Thornton) but couldn’t get the LHB out, and the guy he dominated (Guyer, a RHB) ws called safe because Roberts couldn’t make the out, then he had to bring a RHP who surrendered the lead with a hit and a sac fly.

Basically, he took his RHP for fear a batter would tie the game (Loney), but ultimately ended up with a tied game and three less pitchers in the bullpen (Phelps, Thornton and Warren).

  139. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Closer play at the plate than I thought it would be, at least.

  140. BigBlueAL says:

Im shocked 1 run wasnt going to be enough to win this game.

  141. Cuso says:

I’m not blaming Girardi for anything. You’d think we could score more than 1 run off Cesar “Freaking” Ramos.

    • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Very little reason to blame Girardi. Not enough offense. Easy out that extended an inning in a close game bobbled.

      • Cuso says:

        Right. There you go.

      • forensic says:

The 1 run is pitiful (as was Roberts’ play), but Girardi had a lead with a rolling pitcher on the mound and felt the need to make too many pitching changes. The more pitchers you use, the more likely it is you’re going to run into someone who doesn’t have it, especially when you go to a Matt Thornton.

        • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Like I said above, if they score now, and hold that lead with their best relievers, it’s no longer a problem.

I get what you’re saying, but he prioritized “now” over “three innings from now.”

          • forensic says:

Even if they score now, holding the lead is in even more trouble because he already forced Warren to throw double-digit pitches in the 7th inning.

And either way, (arguably) poor decision-making isn’t negated by getting bailed out later.

            • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

I don’t think it was optimal decision-making. I just don’t think it’s a costly mistake until Bryan Mitchell is out there in a tie ball game.

              • forensic says:

Well, thanks to all his needless moves, they’re one inning away from either Claiborne or Mitchell pitching the 10th inning.

                • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

And THEN you’ll be right. :)

                  • forensic says:

So if Kelley blows it in the 9th inning, then you and Girardi are right, since Mitchell didn’t end up pitching? ;-)

                    • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

This is all about Bryan Mitchell. :)

In that case, I think we’re just all wrong.

                    • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

I can’t imagine many scenarios in which you still wouldn’t have Kelley out there in the ninth.

I’d much rather have had Thornton still sitting in the bullpen for afterwards rather than used up already, though.

          • Mikhel says:

Sure, and for that reason, he should have taken into account that Phelps was pitching fine NOW, at most Phelps needed a confidence vote to keep pitching, he has been a starter and long reliever, I see no reason to limit him.

          • forensic says:

And really, prioritizing ‘now’ means he would’ve stuck with Phelps who was already rolling and pitching well, rather than going to the unknown.

    • robbiewho? says:

its the same thing Rays fans (all 2 of them) are saying about Nuno. But both starting pitchers did their job. Difference is after the last two games Yanks bullpen has been destroyed. Phelps was fine, but Girardi felt the need to out manage Madden, problem is he probably out managed himself from a series split here. I get the lefty lefty match up, but 7th inning with a lot of baseball to go and a depleted bullpen the change was pre mature. hopefully the Yanks can put up some runs against their bullpen and Yanks can get out of the Trop and get a day off.

  142. nycsportzfan says:

    So frustrated right now.

  143. Cuso says:

Come on, old man. You can do it.

  144. Cuso says:

Ok, come on old man #2. I believe in you.

  145. Wheels says:

    Beltran, it’s winning time.

  146. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

    That was……..foul?

  147. BigBlueAL says:

Offense is averaging 3.8 runs per game. Unfortunately games like today have been pretty normal this season so far.

    • Mikhel says:

That’s why I don’t like those kinds of averages, for example yesterday Tampa scored 16 runs and with today’s run they average 8.5 runs in two games, and yet today’s game is tied at 1.

A better way to measure an offense could be to contabilize in how many innings they score per 9 played.

  148. forensic says:

    Ugh, so close…

  149. Cuso says:

I don’t think the Yankees have ever hit Joelle Peralta.

  150. Cuso says:

Surely old man #3 can do it.

  151. Cuso says:

Problem with 3-2 counts to Sori is that he refuses to walk.

  152. nycsportzfan says:

I swear the Orioles are paying Roberts more then the Yanks, to sabotage us. Its like baseballs version of “Turn”.

  153. nycsportzfan says:

We got McCann and Ichiro on the bench to PH, with a day of tomorrow, I hope we don’t shy away from using them.

  154. forensic says:

Good job not screwing that one up, Roberts…

  155. Wheels says:

    Jesus Tex.

  156. robbiewho? says:

    ugh

  157. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

That wasn’t on the mark, Teixeira.

  158. Cuso says:

No bobble at 2nd! Hey hey!

    :)

  159. YankeeDJW says:

Roberts held on to that one, at least.

  160. nycsportzfan says:

    hahahhaha!

  161. nycsportzfan says:

Can someone just hit a freaking HR, so we can get Kelley in there and go on with are day, please?

  162. forensic says:

And just like the first week of the season, Tex screwing up defensively again.

    • Mikhel says:

I don’t know what is happening to him, last season was the same when he first came back from that awful injury. It is as if he forgot how to field and what to do with the ball.

  163. YankeeDJW says:

    Tex blows another one…

  164. Winter says:

See, that’s what happens when you have an inexperienced first basema– oh, wait.

  165. Mikhel says:

Teixeira with another error?!?! Mark has been playing very erratically since his comeback of last year, though not every error has been charged to him and the scorers have given “infield hits” like when Omar Vizquel’s errors were charged to the 1st baseman or were deemed infield hits when he played in Cleveland.

    • Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Think about how erratically he’s played in a season now. There’s rust there.

      No harm, no foul, though.

      • YankeeDJW says:

If he doesn’t get his act together, it’s going to cost us eventually. He’s booting plays he would’ve made in his sleep two years ago.

      • Mikhel says:

Yeah, I hope he gets better, he is definitely one of the best fielding first baseman in the game. Not like Mattingly (Teix was a diehard fan of Donnie and he molded himself to try and play like him) but he is very good.

  166. forensic says:

Two closers potentially in a tie game? Please let theirs blow it before ours.

  167. alittleblackegg says:

If the Yankees are going to play a game like this, they need to do it in the evening, when I can have a couple drinks. This is rough going on a Sunday afternoon.

  168. Cuso says:

Tex is mad at all of you

  169. nycsportzfan says:

Ankle high fastball called strike 3!!! Bullshit!!!!!

  170. Wheels says:

    Bullshit.

  171. robbiewho? says:

    holly shit…what a horrible call

  172. nycsportzfan says:

This team is jekyl and hyde offensively. My god.

  173. forensic says:

Well, that was a quick inning.

  174. Lukaszek says:

The elephants called; they want their strike zone back

  175. forensic says:

Anyone mind if I just choose to blame this whole potentially lost weekend on Flaherty?

    No? Ok, good…

    • nycsportzfan says:

Well, the fact we’d be one out away from a split right now if not for ROberts error, I must insist you give some blame to Roberts as well.

  176. BigBlueAL says:

How many extra innings will it take for the Yankees to score again?? 5?? 6?? 10??

  177. nycsportzfan says:

Great, this ones over. Can all ready see where this ones going.

  178. Cuso says:

This would be a bad game to go to extras

  179. nycsportzfan says:

Just thinking this should be to end the game, not to keep it tied is killing me, right now. Someone go tickle Roberts with a feather and break his ribs, please!

  180. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

Either the best, or worst, sac bunt ever.

  181. Mikhel says:

    I hope Loney doesn’t hit a HR here…

  182. Wheels says:

    Nice play.

  183. nycsportzfan says:

How fitting, a terrible hitter and super slow runner Jose Molina could be the one who gets us here.

  184. The Guns of Navarone says:

Gee, I wonder how this will end

  185. Wheels says:

    Awesome, make up call

  186. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

We get this third out for Prussia.

  187. What goes around comes around on that strike 3…

  188. Axis of Mike says:

We got it back, but that was even more clearly a ball!

  189. YankeeDJW says:

Same ball Tex was punched out on.

  190. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

We win in extras for Prussia!

  191. YankeeDJW says:

He has no idea where the ball is going.

  192. robbiewho? says:

so glad we payed so much attention to Loney who has a career 87 home runs in the 7th with no one on. Def demanded all the attention of Girardi to go to the bullpen. And now lets pitch away from the guy batting .136…am I in the twilight zone?

  193. nycsportzfan says:

Haha, and the makeup call for Tex!

  194. robbiewho? says:

    make up call for Tex

  195. nycsportzfan says:

Would it be fair for Nuno to give a bitch smack to Roberts after the game?

  196. Havok9120 says:

Alright boys, I’ve been elsewhere the entire game. But we’ve gotta pull this out for the glory of Prussia.

    We got ‘dis.

  197. jjyank says:

Ah fuck it, it’s 4/20. I’ll be a late game thread addition.

  198. nycsportzfan says:

    Roberts= FAIL!

  199. forensic says:

Wow, this ump must not understand that they use bats in this sport, not golf clubs.

  200. forensic says:

Really got a hold of that one, McCann.

  201. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

    Officer McCann reporting for duty.

  202. nycsportzfan says:

Can we get a fucking guy on base, please? Freaking boring ass offense.

  203. nycsportzfan says:

What do we got 2runs in are last 20innings or some shit? I don’t even think we got 10hits in are last 20innings, do we?

  204. Naved says:

Can Betances go today if need be?

  205. nycsportzfan says:

    Snooze fest.

    • Havok9120 says:

It’s baseball. A game of offensive failure. The Rays have played roughly as bad offensively, and neither performance is all that far outside the norm.

We’re not gonna score 10 runs and steal half a dozen bases every game.

  206. Alkaline says:

Come on. Get a big W for ze off day.

  207. forensic says:

And this now shows how much of an overreaction unnecessary the two pitching moves were. You bring these guys up because you don’t want to wear out your normal guys, but Girardi is so afraid to go to them that he’ll use Kelley for a 2nd inning anyway instead.

I’m not looking forward to see Claiborne or Mitchell pitch, but the inevitable walk-off winner from Longoria off Kelley is just going to make this even more of a waste.

  208. jjyank says:

    Shawn Fuckin’ Kelly. Straight baller.

  209. robbiewho? says:

Ok Kelly! now lets go offense

  210. Wheels says:

    Nice Kelley.

  211. OldYanksFan says:

Can someone tell me how/where we got Shawn Kelly from?

  212. Havok9120 says:

    Alright, boys, with the bats.

  213. Alkaline says:

    Shawn KKKKelley

  214. Wheels says:

    Seize victory here.

  215. jjyank says:

Nice Cap. Keep it moving boys.

  216. forensic says:

Wow, good job Joe. Wasn’t sure he’d have the guts to pull Jeter to improve something.

  217. forensic says:

Heath Bell? The offense might actually have a chance to get a baserunner and, quite possibly, even score…

  218. Cuso says:

If you can’t score a run off Heath Bell you don’t deserve to win.

  219. forensic says:

Wow, got a gift there Beltran. Please make it pay off now.

  220. Alkaline says:

    Steal Ze Base!

  221. jjyank says:

Does Ichiro steal here against Molina? Normally I’d say yes, but I’m not sure against Molina.

  222. Alkaline says:

This is why we got you Beltran. Let’s go!

  223. Havok9120 says:

The Captain, quietly having a nice month.

Holy cow, a PR for Jeter.

  224. forensic says:

Three games in the 11th inning or later at the same time. Pretty cool.

  225. Wheels says:

    dammit

  226. Mikhel says:

Ichiro as a pinch runner, so… I forecast he won’t steal the base; JoeG uses his PR to go and sit at 1st base for IF somebody gets a hit afterwards.

  227. forensic says:

Flaherty: “Heath Bell struggling a little bit lately.”

So, ‘lately’ now encompasses a 2 1/2 year time span…

    • Mikhel says:

Even a bit more, in SD he got hit hard a lot of times, but the sea breeze at PetCo helped him a lot. Lots of balls batted to RF and CF died.

  228. forensic says:

    Whew, that was close.

  229. robbiewho? says:

    nice Ichiro

  230. nycsportzfan says:

Is Beltran in this game today? Seems like his heads in the clouds.

  231. nycsportzfan says:

    Ichiro is safe!

  232. Wheels says:

    safe.

  233. BigBlueAL says:

Real close, looks like he might be safe. What do YES replays show??

  234. nycsportzfan says:

I’m starting to get a headache from this game.lol

  235. Hall and Nokes says:

Overturn is bad for the Yankees BUT it means Joe West is wrong. This is a tough one, folks.

  236. forensic says:

Shit, that’s going to be overturned.

  237. jjyank says:

    God damn it.

  238. Captain Turbohiro Tanaka says:

Too close to call. They should have let it stand.

  239. BigBlueAL says:

Shit, looks like he is out with a freeze frame on the Rays broadcast.

  240. robbiewho? says:

and the Yanks continue to make scrubs look like all-stars

  241. nycsportzfan says:

Nice hitting Yanks. You guys are awesome. God, i’d like to smash Brian Roberts right now.

  242. nycsportzfan says:

We can’t even score off Heath Bell..lol Are best hitter gets K’d looking against Heath Bell.lol A fucking fan could hit Heath Bell.lol

Ok, i’m flat out cranky now. Taking deep breath.

  243. robbiewho? says:

come on Tex…blast one, this is Heath Bell for fuck sake

  244. forensic says:

And for everyone who still complains about the Yankees not ‘pitching to the shift’, just watch Tex’s AB’s more carefully. Every AB, most of the pitches are on the outer part despite them playing him to pull. You don’t pitch him inside just because you’re shifting.

    • Mikhel says:

Not every batter is the same, Teixeira will always try to pull the ball, if you pitch him away he’ll most likely hit a pop fly, if he gets to pull that pitch, it’ll be a weak grounder. That’s why there was talk he was going to begin to just put the bat on the ball to slap hits to where he is being pitched (like David Ortíz began to do a couple of years ago), if they’re giving you a lot of space and pitches in the outer part of the plate, then take those opportunities to try and get slap singles or even doubles down the line.

      • forensic says:

And the batters who aren’t the same as him don’t get shifted on as much. The reason all the shifts are happening is because there are a lot of guy like him who try to pull everything, and if they do that on outside pitches then it’s going to be an easy grounder.

        • Mikhel says:

Yup. But I don’t know if its because they are too stubborn to change their approach, don’t do it because it could “destroy” (so to speak) their power swing or… I don’t know.

I remember when Cecil Fielder came to the NYY and he used to pull everything but with the Yanks he changed his approach and began to slap hits, his career was basically over after playing half a season next year in NY because he no longer was viewed as a threat (or so I thought back then, I could very well be wrong). I can’t remember if if was Watson the hitting instructor back then.

  245. nycsportzfan says:

I’d let Sori go now as well. Why the heck not?

  246. BigBlueAL says:

We need 3 more walks in a row to score a run.

  247. No 2013 again says:

Horrible offense. Cant even hit the corpse of heath bell

    • nycsportzfan says:

Horrible offense, horrible defense. I swear its pretty much we look like studs on Pineda and Tanaka days, and then its a crap shoot the rest of the time.

  248. OldYanksFan says:

    Wow…. blown opportunity.

  249. alittleblackegg says:

Did Heath Bell just get Tex out with three fastballs?

  250. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

This is leaning towards forensic being correct.

  251. forensic says:

Holy shit, these guys look like the Bad News Bears out there.

    • nycsportzfan says:

Offense and defense. I’m actually happy we have a day off tomorrow, as I need a break from them, myself.

  252. 28 this year says:

Need some more fielding practice apparently

  253. mustang says:

What the fuck was everyone saying about Anna playing SS

  254. YankeeDJW says:

This infield could be historically bad.

  255. Wheels says:

    D’oh!

  256. WAjohn says:

    Oh boy

  257. Cuso says:

They pinch-runner for Jeter and the PR gets thrown out stealing and the defensive replacement makes an error.

    Dumb luck, but geez.

  258. WAjohn says:

    Helluva throw mccann

  259. jjyank says:

    Suck it, Myers.

  260. Havok9120 says:

I don’t know if Jeter makes that play, but…sheesh. You use a PR, let 10 pitches go by before the steal, and then the replacement botches a play. Ick.

  261. nycsportzfan says:

Destined to see Bryan Mitchell today, I guess.lol

    • forensic says:

Girardi loves using Claiborne for multiple innings. Of course, he refused to see that that’s when Claiborne started running into a lot of his problems last season.

  262. nycsportzfan says:

    Sit the fuck down Myers!

  263. mustang says:

Dude they been calling that ALLLLLLL DAY!!!!

might not be strike but it is today

    LOL

  264. Havok9120 says:

    Wow. Half a mile.

  265. Havok9120 says:

    ‘Dat strikezone.

    Sigh.

  266. BigBlueAL says:

Rays broadcasters wanted a replay because they thought Myers mightve been safe. Replay showed out by a country mile. Screw them lol.

  267. Kosmo says:

nice change up for the K

  268. WAjohn says:

    Good start boys. let’s go

  269. Eric Young says:

Am I reading this right that there are no remaining offensive players on the bench, and only Mitchell and Betances in the pen?

  270. WAjohn says:

If Brett doesn’t bunt, we are wrong.

  271. Tom says:

    Why are they bunting?

  272. forensic says:

    Geez…

Trying to give away an out? Yuck.

    These bunt attempts? Double Yuck.

  273. robbiewho? says:

the guy with speed that can’t bunt…useless

  274. forensic says:

Geez Gardner, what the hell was that? You can’t play chicken with the low part of the zone with this ump.

  275. Wheels says:

    Not what we needed Brett.

  276. mustang says:

    Have him STEEEEEAL!!

  277. mustang says:

I don’t know if its because i been on this site for so long but now I HATE BUNTING!!!

  278. Winter says:

I know Gardner is terrified of stealing for some reason, but he has to run here.

  279. BigBlueAL says:

    Bunting with 2 strikes???

  280. mustang says:

    Bunting with 2 strikes

    ITS KILLING ME

  281. Havok9120 says:

    Steal. All the steals.

  282. Havok9120 says:

Roberts is just getting robbed at this point.

Good sign for the long term, but now? Just annoying.

  283. jjyank says:

Ahh shit. Gardner had that if he didn’t get the red light.

  284. forensic says:

Wow, I want to see another angle on that. I would’ve liked see Thompson take a shot on that.

    Geez, he scores EASILY!!!

Thompson just can’t seem to get much right over there.

  285. WAjohn says:

Well if he steals he scores without a doubt. and that’s why you bunt

  286. Havok9120 says:

    He woulda made it.

  287. nycsportzfan says:

I think Rob Thompson just fucked up. Hopefully Ells makes it a moot point. 0-5 so far. Ouch!

  288. WAjohn says:

Honestly, watching gardner sit at first is more annoying than watching the anti gun folks spew their nonsense

  289. Eric Young says:

Gardner’s on a pace for under 20 steals this year.

  290. BigBlueAL says:

Holy crap for a second I thought Gardner was going to try to score.

  291. forensic says:

They sound so shocked for some reason. Clueless as usual.

There’s a base open, even if it’s not 1st base. Who would you rather face, Ellsbury or Anna???

That’s why Thomson needs to send Gardner.

  292. mustang says:

No way he would of been out

  293. BigBlueAL says:

We need a HBP or BB lol.

  294. Tom says:

Time for Anna to “pierzynski” one.

Anything inside he best be dipping that elbow into it.

  295. BigBlueAL says:

IBB Ellsbury to pitch to Anna??

  296. Eric Young says:

Gardy not stealing = it comes down to Anna.

  297. Havok9120 says:

    You’re killing me Rob Thompson.

  298. mustang says:

    For Beltran!!!!!

The Joe move that keeps on paying…SMH

  300. BigBlueAL says:

  301. jjyank says:

    DEANNA

  302. nycsportzfan says:

    Anna baby!!!lol

  303. BigBlueAL says:

    He walked him!!!!

  304. jjyank says:

That was a hell of an at bat.

  305. Cuso says:

Nice eye, Anna. Way to work this AB

  306. forensic says:

    WHEW!!!!!

    Nice Anna!

  307. Tom says:

Anna sucks! Should’ve sent him down…

  308. Cuso says:

Shut the fuck, Maddon. Quit whining, you bitch.

  309. Macho Man "Randy Levine" says:

    The Maddon move backfires. Joygasm!

  310. YankeeDJW says:

Joe Maddon is such a goon sometimes. You got yourself in the mess; don’t bark at the umpires.

    Great at-bat by Anna.

  311. BigBlueAL says:

Good check swing, even the Rays announcers admitted he held up.

  312. Yangeddard Solarte says:

BALL 4! BALL 4! ANNA HAS WALKED IN THE GO AHEAD RUN!

  313. forensic says:

Just four or five more of those guys and we might feel ok with this being in Claiborne’s or Mitchell’s hands

  314. mustang says:

    Sorry Joe

    Sorry Anna

Sorry Mom for taking that dollar

  315. WAjohn says:

    Carlos!!!##

  316. Yangeddard Solarte says:

    CARLOS! THERE IS YOUR DAGGER!!!!!!!

  317. BigBlueAL says:

Frustrating game has turned into a potentially great win lol.

  318. forensic says:

Ok Beltran, PLEASE add some here.

  319. Wheels says:

    Finish them!

  320. Cuso says:

    How didn’t that hit him?

  321. nycsportzfan says:

Come on Beltran, open this up.

  322. mustang says:

    YESSSSSSS!!!!!

  323. jjyank says:

    BELTRAN!

  324. nycsportzfan says:

Beltran comes through! Like I said, Beltran looks great today. Hehehe!

  325. BigBlueAL says:

I think this lead might now be Claiborne proof.

  326. Wheels says:

    Happy Easter.

  327. nycsportzfan says:

Beltran is 1st to get to double digit ribs for Yanks.

  328. Steinbrenner's Ghost says:

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

YEAH! THAT’S WHAT U’M TALKN ‘BOUT!

  329. Tom says:

By the way…. kind of lost in this was a pretty good move by Joe after the Ichiro PR move.

He could have channeled his NL managing days and did a double switch; Ichiro at RF in for Jeter at SS, Anna at SS for Beltran in the #3 spot.

Instead he just directly subbed in Anna for Ichiro and kept the better bat in in RF. (which was the exact right move)

And as I type this… Beltran!

  330. YankeeDJW says:

    I still don’t trust a 3 run lead.

  331. Steinbrenner's Ghost says:

    Dean Anna 2015!

It was only yesterday in the 5 inning that the Yankees were up 4-2 on a 5 game winning streak with the bullpen rested rotation healthy and Tex and D-Rob round the corner.
Next day bullpen burn down a starter and on the edge of losing 3 out 4 to division rival.
CAN NEVER EVER EVER EVER HAVE TOO MUCH PITCHING!!!!!!!!
    Especially the starting kind.

BUT with that said they win tomorrow split the series have an off day to rest the bullpen and their young studs line-up vs. Boston.
    Its game 18 of 162

    LOVE BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!!

  333. Cuso says:

Put up 10 more runs. Break their powder blue spirit

  334. forensic says:

    Keep scoring! I want 16!!!

    Or not…

    • nycsportzfan says:

Hey, if we can hold on 5-1, then we beat them 10-2 and 5-1 in our 2 wins. Evens things up alittle bit.

  335. alittleblackegg says:

RBIs against Josh Lueke. It’s a beautiful thing.

  336. nycsportzfan says:

God, that Sprint Framily commercial is fucking stupid.

    • forensic says:

      Framily

Come on, can’t you even spell ‘family’ rig…, oh wait…

      :-)

      • Mikhel says:

I hate that commercial… but I do like the girl that acts like the mom (I think she used to be in the tv show “Arrested Development” quite a few years ago).

  337. TheRealGreg says:

    Can you imagine this?

Two blowout losses and now an extra innings game? Bullpen will definitely need this day off.

Nuno came up big and will probably be our fifth starter

  338. WAjohn says:

Please tell me we have someone (Mitchell) warming up

  339. mustang says:

and the soap opera goes on

  340. forensic says:

Ugh, great way to start Claiborne…

  341. vicki says:

wow, seattle. swept by the marlins.

  342. forensic says:

Walking Jose Molina on 4 pitches? Yuck.

At least he clogs the bases a little…

  343. Yangeddard Solarte says:

And Preston just walked Molina on 4 pitches.

  344. WAjohn says:

    One more. That was smoked

  345. Cuso says:

    Yikes.

    One more out, come onnnnnnnn

  346. nycsportzfan says:

Were so close to not having to see Bryan Mitchell! Come on Claiborne, please!

  347. BigBlueAL says:

4 pitch walk to Molina?? Are you freaking kidding me??

  348. WAjohn says:

    Uh, Joe? You there buddy?

  349. BigBlueAL says:

From frustration to elation. Crazy game but in the end a great win.

  350. Wheels says:

    Spark em up.

  351. Jorge Steinbrenner says:

    Yankees win!

    Hey, forensic….. ;)

  352. YankeeDJW says:

    Have Dean Anna finish it.

  353. mustang says:

Come one more out and they leave this HELL HOLE

  354. forensic says:

    Ok, one more out please!

  355. jjyank says:

    *exhales*

  356. forensic says:

Yes! Take the win and run! You don’t have to come back to this dump for almost 4 months!!!

  357. mustang says:

    THANK YOU!!!!

All that and they get a split.

    LOL

  358. nycsportzfan says:

Yes!!!! Good work Claiborne!! Thank god, we didn’t lose this one!

  359. mustang says:

    Happy Easter to all!!!

  360. Yangeddard Solarte says:

A split is a great outcome in this house of horrors. Have their two aces lined up against Boston and will get their closer back as well.

  361. Mikhel says:

    Happy easter everybody!!!

I’m gonna look for my eggs! (in spanish that sounds funny :3 ).

  362. Tom says:

Great job by the bullpen , 7IP, 3 hits, 1 unearned run

And of course Nuno who threw 5 scoreless. Have to assume he takes Nova’s spot in the rotation? (at least for a while)
