- The Yankees announced another round of roster cuts today. Albert Abreu, Thairo Estrada, and Jonathan Loaisiga were all optioned down. Abreu (appendix) and Estrada (hip) didn’t appear in a game this spring. The Yankees still have 53 players in big league camp, by my unofficial count.
- Aaron Boone made two unsurprising announcements: Jordan Montgomery will be in the rotation and Chad Green will be in the bullpen. I mean, duh. Luis Cessa, who was apparently competing for a rotation spot, could still make the team as a reliever. [Erik Boland, Marly Rivera]
- Boone said the second and third base competitions remain “fluid.” Multiple players are in the running at both positions and the manager has been impressed by them all this spring. Optimistic manager is optimistic. [Coley Harvey]
- The Yankees are back in action tomorrow afternoon. They’ll take on the Mets at home, and the game will be televised. Cessa is the scheduled starter. Montgomery will start Sunday.
This is the nightly open thread. MLB Network is replaying games throughout the night, the Knicks are playing, and there are gobs of college basketball games on the schedule. Talk about those games, the Yankees and Braves, or anything else here as long as it’s not religion or politics. Have at it.
