Worst lead-out ever

By

TBS just followed up the National League Wild Card play-in game with an old episode of Sex in the City. That’s really showing an awareness of the target audience who I’m sure wouldn’t want to watch Family Guy or anything like that. I’m sure their ratings plummeted after that thrilling conclusion to the game.

Man it was late… I don’t think anything could have kept me up after that game. I had practice at 6 15 the next morning

    Ben,

Since you closed out the last thread, let me say that Trevor Hoffman (best closer EVER according to SI) is a perfect example of a guy who is not “clutch”.

You are going to post a Jamesian analysis on how clutch hitting is simply luck, although we are talking pitching here, its not mutually exclusive. While a player can’t be clutch all the time, when you have guys like Hoffman playing the game at two different levels depending on the importance of the game, you realize that a players performance in key situations can’t be solely attributed to luck.

Sorry you feel we weren’t having a rational discussion before, I still think you guys don’t realize how negative you have been with Melk and Cano – who picked up his game so much that no one could reproach him (rember all the ranting about how he was partying too much or that he had no plate discipline or couldn’t focus in the field?, I do).

I also think that you like many continue to fall into the trap of watching aging flawed players like Abreu and expecting them to contribute dignificantly in the post season – the last few years should have taught us all something.

Here’s hoping Abreu, Giambi, Matsui get “lucky” in those clutch situations.

I’m sorry. This has what to do with Sex in the City leading out of baseball? If you want to discuss last night’s game, we have a game thread. Otherwise, please stay on topic. We’ve asked this before. If you want to pick a fight, go somewhere else, and don’t drag Robinson Cano into this. We’ve hardly been negative on him. Peter Abraham was the one suggesting sending him down. We were the ones calling that decision ludicrous.

BTW, here’s what we’ve written on Cano. One piece urging Torre to use him in the three hole; one piece urging the Yanks to let him do what he did best. We’re praising him. That’s all.

I’m just pissed off TBS doesn’t have an HD channel on Cablevision, only TNT HD. It’s a nice waste of a TV to have to watch crappy looking games all stretched out.
