Posada still out; Molina nears return

By Benjamin Kabak

The Yankee catching situation, in which their backup backup catcher has now started five games this season, may clear up soon. While Pete Kerzel at MLB.com reports that Jorge Posada is still out indefinitely from behind the plate, Ed Price tells us that Jose Molina could return as early as tonight. At this point, it’s clear that the Yanks are begin less than forthcoming with news on Posada’s shoulder.

Travis G. says:

they should just DL posada already so they can bring up shelley/gardner or a pitcher. matsui/damon/shelley/giambi/ensberg/jeter can DH for the time being. we certainly have options so there’s no reason to keep a guy who cant play the field at all.

Realist says:

Posada has to get that wing healthy…for Defense and Offense.

I would say DH him but Matsui is performing well in that spot…

I would say let him play 1st….but this is something that hasn’t been properly addressed for a few years now. PLUS , Giambi needs to be replaced…

So the only move seems to be to let him rest? I believe Molina and Moeller can more than handle the defensive side…

Manimal says:

DL Posada bring up Duncan, DFA Giambi.

Joseph C. says:

Oi. I just hope this doesn’t snowball (anymore than it already has).

Manimal says:

JESUS, look at the Molina link. Yankees were going to trade betemit to Pittsburg!?!?! WHy didnt they pull the trigger for Marte!

Also Pettite left to texas for a family death…but he is still going to start today. We officially have bad luck.
