Xavier Nady VII
ByTyler Kepner has an amusing piece up about one of the newest Yankees. Xavier Nady’s wife just gave birth to the couple’s first child about two weeks ago. The son’s name is Xavier Nady, making him the seventh consecutive male in the Nady family to carry the name. That’s a long dynasty.

Xavier Nady VII ….sounds like a new Pope…..
I guess it’s better than Manny’s two oldest sons, who are named Manny Jr. and … Manny Jr.
thats just Manny being Manny…….
being Manny being Manny.
I looked up Manny’s bio and was surprised to see that his wife’s name is Juliana. I figured it would be Manuela.
Heh. No joke, some dude I used to work with was named Patricio, and his wife’s name was Patricia. I kid you not.
I forget if it was the Times or the Globe (I’m in Boston, and though the Times sports page WHOOPS the Globe’s, the rest of the Globe is much better, but i digress) but on Sunday morning there was a picture of Melky and Abreu jumping and doing their side bump celebrate thing, and Nady was standing there with the biggest smile i have ever seen on a baseball player.
He has tried too hard and struggled in the first two games, but he will be fine. He’s a good hitter who is as happy as a player could possibly be to be out of Pitt and on to a good team.
No middle name listed on Baseball Reference. Xavier Wolfgang Nady would be a badass name, though.
The article said his middle name was Clifford.
and his son’s middle name is Henry
just think about how much fun Manny will be as his career really goes to the downside……and some team paying 20 mil per year for the priviledge…….oh Omar???? listening????? it’ll turn the new Shea into the House of Pain……
Nady is a lucky dude. I can only help give birth to girls.
The X Man strikes again.
Seven Xavier Nadys, seven hitless at bats… I remember reading a quote from Gary Sheffield before the ‘07 season in which he (correctly) predicted a monster year from A-Rod. He supported his claim by saying that A-Rod’s bad ‘06 could largely be attributed to the birth of his first child. It’s something I’ve paid casual attention to since, but it might hold some truth more so than the losing-team-scoring-in-the-ninth-inning-of-a-blow-out factor. Anyway, my guess based on this admittedly gross speculation is that Nady is going to be a disappointment and provide only marginally better offense than Gardner.
Now if he could only get a hit in pinstripes
So he’s Xavier the Sixth, huh?
He should see if he can get a deal endorsing the BMW X6 luxury midsize crossover. It combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, all wheel drive and all-weather ability, large wheels and tires) with the stance of a coupé (bold styling, dramatic sloping roof).
Or possibly the Ford Edge. I don’t think anybody’s endorsing that yet.
ever since jeter started these ford edge commercials he’s been captain double play.
i think we need to rekindle some of the guisseppe franco magic
i noticed that Guiseppe Franco has moved his wares to the Mets network.
there might be something to this.
I love these luxury SUV types because it just proves that rich people don’t know how to spend their money. If I had that I’d take a Corvette, or even a Cobalt with some money under the hood. Funny stuff
Imagine being the one who couldn’t continue the streak….. it’d be rough… after eight girls.
haha, Xavaria Nady….
Xaviertina.
anyone planning on voting for ralph nady?
I love the Nady+Marte deal, but I did have one concern. The concern? How will Nady adjust to switching leagues for the first time. Some players really have a tough time adjusting to the switch. Now,it’s much to early to tell, but I have my concerns.Hopefully,he gets a couple hits tonight and destroys my point before I can have one…
He said in one of his first interview that New York Yankees is a lot different than Pittsburgh Pirates and NY v. Boston is a rivalry that knows no other and that even though he was a Met for a while and enjoyed the Mets/Yankee rivalry but doesn’t really know the American League esp the AL East and the Yankees.
Mad runon sentence but he said he was aware of how different it was going to be but he loved living in NY as a Met and looks forward to it.
And think he’ll be fine when he makes the adjustment.
Deion Sanders named his son Deion and his daughter Deiondra.
