George to miss Yankee Stadium finale

Marquez to the AzFL
Game 155: Two to go

According to numerous reports, George Steinbrenner will not be at Yankee Stadium on Sunday evening. Considering all that George has meant for baseball and all that he has done with the Yankees since buying the team in the early 1970s, I have to believe that he must be rather incapacitated if he’s missing the final game. For better or worse, it won’t be the same without him around.

Hopefully the Boss will be well enough to open the new stadium next year. It’s a shame that he has to miss this, but considering how bad he looked at the All-Star game, it’s not overly surprising.

I hope that the Steinbrenner Family doesn’t sell the team when Big George leaves us. If James Dolan buys the team, I will give up on baseball forever.

so far I haven’t seen any real “stomach” in Hank or Hal for this, beyond caretaking while George is still alive….I think they’ll be marketing the team within 12 months of the old man passing……the thought of Dolan is real scary……

Your absolutely correct on all points. The team is worth so much money and the interests the kids have shown in it is passing at best, I think we are in real trouble here.

You know what? Good. I have no love for the Boss, I think the Yankee successes have been in spite of him, not because of him.
