Bernie’s baseball return

By Benjamin Kabak

The not-retired Bernie Williams made his Puerto Rican League debut last night. Bernie, DHing, went 1 for 3 with a single and a strike out as he prepares to make his case for the World Baseball Classic. As long as Bernie doesn’t embarrass himself, this should be his last baseball hurrah. Perhaps, after this, the Yanks can have the long-awaited Bernie Williams Day at the new Stadium this year.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawn…..Bernie news just doesn’t do it for me…..

I think he should have a ‘Day’ sometime in the near future, but who cares if he got a hit in the PR Winter League.

The Yankees have made contact as well, and are seriously talking with Teixeira’s people. The two-time Gold Glove winner appears to seriously considering signing with New York.

Manimal says:

If you were in his position, would you go to the team that idolizes people then pushes them away, or the team that just made huge long term deals and seems committed to you and a world series victory.

Mike Pop says:

Yankee bias but I say fcuk Boston and come here !!!

Brooklyn Ed says:

Manimal, I’m guessing the idolize people would be Boston. I seriously sign with the team that would land a WS victory, honestly. Like Mike Pop said, screw Boston!

anyways, does it seem odd the Swisher is listed as an OFer on the Yanks roster page?

Mike Pop says:

Oh my god, it was there all along. Teix was ours this whole time and it was right beneath our noses !

Brooklyn Ed says:

nah that’s not what i meant.

perhaps scaraism?

Mike Pop says:

Im just joking around

Brooklyn Ed says:

oh okay, cool… hopefully some good news before dinner time.

Rick in Boston says:

Ortiz is listed as an OF’er on the BoSox roster on ESPN, so it’s not too outlandish.

And Swisher has played a lot of OF in the past.

Brooklyn Ed says:

well that’s something i didn’t know, Ortiz is listed as an Ofer. thanks.

Joey H says:

ORTIZ HAS ATHLETICISM?!?! I had no idea he can do anything but spit on his hands and swing a bat. But that’s just me ;)

E-ROC says:

I can just imagine now: Ortiz spits into his glove just before catching the ball.

Good Luck Bernie Baseball.

Heyman is one of Boras’ go-to-guys, right?

Anyone think this is a ploy spook someone else into upping their “final offer”?

What are the chances Bernie actually makes the team?

E-ROC says:

Heyman says the Yanks are on the verge of signing Teixeria. Sounds like BS to me.
