NLDS Game Four Thread: Phillies @ Rockies

By Mike Axisa

Much to everyone’s surprise, Brad Lidge managed to preserve a one-run lead in the ninth inning last night, giving the Phillies a 2-1 series lead over those pesky Colorado Rockies. Both clubs are going back to their top starters on regular rest, so it’ll be Ubaldo Jimenez (0-1, 9.00 in the playoffs) against Cliff Lee (1-0, 1.00). First pitch in chilly Denver is set for 6:07pm ET; TBS has the call. Chat about the game here if you want.

Just watching till the Jets come on. But the Phillies wasted no time.

Evan says:

That got out in a hurry.

Mike Pop says:

Apparently, it’s a balmy 48 degrees in Colorado tonight. I don’t understand why teams that play in cold climes do not build domes. The Twins too are going to regret that decision come April.

Alex S says:

they figure 1 month aint that bad and if they make the playoffs then watever. but it’s not worth sacrificing all those summer months

I hear they have these retractable roofs that are all the rage these days.

Alan says:

Blasphemy! Roofs do not retract!

Alan says:

Damn, you knows its bad when Ryan Howard outruns a potential double play.

Evan says:

Yup, except he didn’t that time. It’s just that Hernandez called him safe.

Did the replay prove him wrong? I saw it as I was leaving my room and thought Howard was safe.

Evan says:

Yeah, he was out according to the replay. He could have been safe if Helton’s foot was off the bag but there was no indication of that from Angel.

Rey22 says:

The amazing playoff umpiring continues..

As long as they don’t take away from the human element of the game away I’ll be fine with every blown call!!!!

Alan says:

Angel Hernandez getting a call wrong? Shocking.

Handtius says:

Assuming we get to the WS, who is the toughest opponent from the NL?

Mike Pop says:

Totally agree. If anyone in their bullpen gets a clue, they could definitely beat us. Their lineup is every bit as good as ours, they have three good starting pitchers (Lee/Hamels/Happ) to match ours. If anyone in that bullpen can get someone out, they can beat us. The relievers they have are high upside guys who’ve just been off track, unlike the Angels who have middling relievers who are what they are.

I can’t see the Dodgers or Rockies beating us unless something weird happened. Dodgers rotation is a shambles and their lineup doesn’t scare me. I don’t think Manny’s the same player he used to be.

ranger11 says:

What about the Dodger bullpen? Seems pretty impressive to me.

I’m “watching” this game with a Phillies fan. It’s interesting.

How does he/she feel about those pitches Werth was swinging at?

“idiot werth
what was he chasing at
that doesnt help
hes a pretty good player but his IQ is pretty low”

Chase Utley is dreamy.

Evan says:

Werth is strong like bull.

Evan says:

Oh, Tulo. *shakes head*

Ibanez doing his best Matt Holiday impersonation.

Lanny says:

Anyone that says bullpens dont mean much or anyone can get those outs hasnt been watching Philly.

Jack says:

Noone said either of those things.

C says:

I’m getting serious deja vu here

AndrewYF says:

I really loved Street when he was on Oakland (this was before the Yankees could consistently develop or utilize quality relievers), but he is simply a blown save machine.

scoopemup says:

Boy oh boy, would I love to see Carlos Gonzales in pinstripes.
