Paterson didn’t really want those World Series tickets anyway

By

On Tuesday, Gov. David Paterson drew headlines for his role in an ethics scandal involving Yankee World Series tickets. He allegedly asked for and received free tickets to Game 1 of the Fall Classic despite the fact that the Yanks are registered with the state as a lobbying organization. Paterson has denied the charges, and the Attorney General is now investigating.

Today, the story gets better as The Observer highlights Paterson’s testimony about the tickets. The governor claims he asked for the tickets because he had to be “part of the ceremony,” and he didn’t even want to go anyway. Paterson, legally blind, says he couldn’t see from his seats and would have preferred to watch the game at home. I don’t think that defense is going to hold up too well in a court of law.

In a related story, Eliot Spitzer had sex with that callgirl, but he didn’t really want to have sex with that callgirl.

Callgirl? She was a musician! Be fair about it at least.

    But Judge, I’m Blind!

If a blind man goes to a baseball game, but can’t see it, did he really ever obtain the tickets unethically?

So Reyes has a thyroid deficiency after seeing a doctor notorious for HGH use…just saying…

AS use may affect thyroid function. Administration of AS has been found to decrease thyroid stimulation hormone (TSH), and the products of the thyroid gland. In addition, thyroid binding globulin (TBG). These changes reversed within weeks after discontinuation of AS use.

Okay, the first step in any defense is to deny the charges altogether. Like, if they taped you phone conversation and they ask you: “Is that your voice on the tape” The answer is No, that is not me. This is the first thing a defense attorney will teach you. Never admit (let in truth is the real meaning of that word)that you are caught. I didn’t want to type this, in fact I didn’t type this, how did this get here?

      Admit Nothing.
      Deny Everything.
      File false counter-accusations.

George Steinbrenner hates blind, black politicians in 3…2…

Didn’t mean to do the “Reply fail”. Not sure how it happened^^

    Laughable.

Of course, I’d expect nothing less from the NYS government.

Maybe he could have umpired. He couldn’t have done a worse job than the official men in blue.

The problem with NYS government is that its in Albany. There isn’t enough oversight there. Move it to NYC, or even Buffalo/Rochester, and the silliness will chill out.

“No, that’s my brother, Crazy Talk!”

That will accomplish nothing. It’s not the place, it’s the people in the place.

Everything going on in Albany is dependent on it being the state capital. It’s also way the hell away from direct scrutiny by the press or anything else. People never hear about their representatives’ votes, speeches, anything. People just get sent back and forth based entirely on party and incumbency. If these people were out getting comped at titty bars in Manhattan it would be in Page Six immediately. This stuff happens all the time in Albany and no one hears about it because they’re all dependent on keeping the politicians happy.

Not defending Paterson, but Giuliani was a multiple offender…free tickets all the time plus getting WS rings for a fraction of their market value. He should be Kerik’s cell-mate.

    • Elwood

Really? You’re going after New York hero and legendary Yankee fan, Rudolph Guiliani? Please, the man earned those tickets helping save this city from the disaster that was David Dinkins. And no one could have done a better job on our darkest days than this heroic mayor.

/ A proud and eternal Guiliani Fan

P.S. I hope Patterson never resigns, this state needs to wake up from the hellish nightmare that has been the democratic party. Really, after Spitzer, Patterson, does this state deserve another left-wing loser? No sir!

  • Aj

Two words to damn Albany: Kevin Parker.

  • Greg

vote all the democrats out. Instantly solves all

At this point, I’m truely missing the good ole days of George Pataki… rootin for Lazio this fall.
