Montero goes deep day after non-trade
ByMake sure you scroll down for tonight’s game thread.
The Yankees had a scout on hand yesterday to watch 16th rounder Evan Rutckyj pitch for his summer league team. The big Canadian lefty is looking for first round money.

Jesus Montero had a better day than Cliff Lee. Ergo we won the nontrade.
“Gary Sanchez, DH: 1 for 2, 1 BB, 1 K, 1 HBP – he’s reached base 33 times in 16 games”
That sounds like a lot.
El Maquinito leads the GCL in every single offensive category. Kid has had some stateside debut.
Bust!
…Wait what?
Wait, so let me get this straight, the Mariners wanted Montero, Warren, Nunez and McAllister? WTF?!?!?!? I wouldnt do that for Lee and someone else, let alone just Lee!
I wonder if Jack Z. wouldnt simply have then requested that McAllister be substituted for David Phelps.
Jack Z. wanted Cashman to say no.
I’d do it for Lee and Felix.
i’d do it for felix alone.
Agreed.
No, I think Warren was mentioned as a possibility in the McAllister slot.
so you mean Montero, Warren/Z-Mac, Nunez?
They suggested Warren instead of Adams because of the ankle, Yanks agreed.
Warren’s line is the best line i’ve seen in a while from a pitcher not named Delin Betances.
BA seems persistent in its Stoneburner analysis concluding he best profiles as a late inning reliever b/c the FB though good is straight. BA also is higher on Warren than Noesi and Stoneburner.
and higher on phelps than the rest listed.
I liked phelps line the other night 6IP 4H 5K 10-2 GO/AO, but if strikeouts do it for you more that’s fine.
Phelps isn’t as good as any of those guys.
If he becomes anything, Olbrychowski’s nickname has to be “Old Brick House” or some modified iteration of such.
If I read that article right, all the outs Rutckyj got were by strikeout…impressive!
you didnt. Picco was the one with the 12 K’s
you’re right, my bad. gotta read slower next time.
Hey Mike, is Sosa becoming a legit big-league OF prospect? Sure playing like it right now.
Yes.
Do you live in the area? Go watch him play at least once. He’s in a different class from the rest of the team.
Why didn’t Slade play today? Did I forget something?
I have no idea, we’re going on three days in a row now.
I’m a little concerned, but not too worried, unless he goes on the DL of course.
I want Rutckyj to sign. I don’t know why. I just like the idea of having a Baseball Goon. Besides, we’ll spare the fans having to read the name on the back of the jersey.
forget about the HR….best thing about DeLeon’s line is the no Ks. 2nd straight game and only 2 Ks his last 16 ABs.
he is quietly stringing together an excellent stretch himself over the last 10.
.349/.417/.512
He’s adjusting to the pitching, got an IBB tonight
Good to Lassiter’s name show up. The hit is a bonus
Venditte Can’t be happy Cox got the AA bulpen slot after he quit on the team
Venditte for Joba!
We get a lefty specialist as a bonus.
The trees DeLeon’s homer went over: http://twitpic.com/249fom
Brackman hitting 99 makes me smile. A lot.
Short, but interesting piece on Jesus.

I had no idea brackman was back to hitting 97-99mph. That is EXCELLENT news.
With brackman and betances our farm should jump this year
99 on the black?? holy jesus christo!
great job brackman, you make me smile
Glad we still have Montero beacuse we can have him and Lee in December. The power of money.
