Stark: Yankees trying to trade Chan Ho Park

By

Via Jayson Stark, the Yankees are trying to unload the disappointing Chan Ho Park on some unsuspecting team desperate for relief help. CHoP has been on the chopping block (pun intended) for basically the entire season, but I suppose it’s possible that GM Brian Cashman has been getting a few trade inquiries, buying Park some time before what seems like an inevitable DFA. The Yankees aren’t going to get much in return, obviously, but a fringe prospect plus some salary relief is better than nothing.

    good

With most teams desperate for relief help and finding the cost prohibitive, why not? Someone might buy into the “he’s a NL pitcher” nonsense and actually take him off Cashman’s hands.

Get Ruben or Omar on the phone.

Jayson Werth for CHoP straight up

or F-Mart for CHoP straight up.

all we have to tell them is that Park is an NL-Pitcher and a proven winner and has playoff experience and can start in a pinch.

You left out Kenny Williams. Perhaps Cash can use his Jedi mind tricks to get Beckham for CHoP straight up … Cash, make it happen!

Too bad this didn’t work out. But it was always a low risk / high reward signing. Oh well…

Just getting rid of his salary would be better than DFAing him.

Too bad Stark is the source.

Send him to Arizona for Upton and cash. Bingo.

“The Yankees are trying to unload the disappointing Chan Ho Park.” Well, now, there’s a news flash. Sorta like “It’s hot in July.” Tell us something we don’t already know. It would only be news if the lead were “Yankees reject offer for Chan Ho park.”

  8. nsalem says:

He should give his post season share to charity.

  9. j_Yankees says:

Brian Cashman: Chan Ho Park for Soria. Straight up. We may even dangle Jesus Montero but not actually offer him.

Dayton Moore:….well it isn’t THAT bad, is it?

  10. Steve H says:

Park has a .560 career winning %, including .576 in the NL. That’s a Jerry DiPoto kind of guy.

    • Ross in Jersey says:

Last year, he was on the team that Roy Halladay is on this year. They’re practically the same player.

  11. radnom says:

I hear he is available in a package deal with Igawa.

Yankees looking to trade Park? A sign they obviously don’t care about their bullpen.

  15. phughesisgod says:

I trust the abilities of Brian Cashman, he was somehow able to spin Wilson Betemit and 2 c prospects for Nick Swisher and Kanekoa Texeira

  16. mustang says:

After this one can Cashman be restricted from signing free agent relievers or at least be highly supervised when he does.

Remember when so many thought that Park was such a steal when he sign.
