Incredible, incredible game.
Did not think it would happen, but I am not going to complain. Beautiful.
Instant classic. Just another reason why you can never count this team out. Great game all.
just, wow
Bush probably shouldn’t have posed with that “Mission Accomplished” banner in the seventh inning.
Winner.
Trying not to make political comments but AHAHHAHAHAH
http://twitter.com/#!/kschmidt2/status/27505688979
BUSTED
Beautiful.
Political comments are okay if they’re funny.
temporary “fuck it” on the rose rule, this comment was the shit.
haha!
Wah Wah
http://www.mocksession.com/30f.....%2057.jpeg
that is hilarious.
i second that
really funny ,i almost fell from my chair laughting
I admit: I gave up on this game. Didn’t say stupid things like some here (hey Captain Jack, beer boy, that guy whose name starts with a T and was going on about CC, I’m calling you all out. You’re terrible. And hey, does Texas look all confident and great now, with a genius manager?), but I’d chalked this one up in the loss column. Shouldn’t have.
I turned off the tv and just listened to the broadcast. Couldn’t watch CC get squeezed anymore.
Eat crow haters, step up, admit it here. You were fucking wrong.
WE ARE THE NEW YORK YANKEES, AND WE ARE NEVER OUT OF A GAME!
I’m sorry. =[
Uh, crow haters? You mean “crow eaters” or something like that?
No… think “Eat crow, haters”
OH duh my bad.
Eats shoots and leaves ftw.
Some people don’t like large, aggressive, intelligent black-feathered birds.
Deal.
Ew. Melodramatic.
Yeah didn’t see this new thread…yes I was wrong, and I was glad to be wrong. I hope you saw the link I posted for you (and the other optimists) int he other thread.
AM glad to be wrong*
I hope the Rangers never win a home game in the postseason.
Fucking claws and antlers. Douchebag fans. Praise Mo.
I’ll say it again
Demoralizing for the Rangers. Great win. Big ups to the Yankees and for the people who didn’t give up

START SPREADING DA NEWS…..
That is what “to the pain” means. It means I leave you in anguish, wallowing in freakish misery forever.
Well played/quoted. Yanks had “fun storming the castle.”
wow, that line was always a joke to me and probably most ranger fans – now i truly understand it, and i’m sure ALL ranger fans do. kudos!
HA nolan clinching that drink hard. lots of hurt faces in texas tonight
I think he’s got a problem.
My heart is about to explode
FIRE GIRARDI
/no maas’d
Having Swisher bunt IS fucking ridiculous.
Why? At that point don’t you play for the one insurance run?
You do. The best way to get one run there is to not surrender an out after a leadoff double, especially when their relievers have shown no ability to get us out, and the hitter at the plate hit 29 homers this year and doesn’t know how to bunt.
Noylan Ryan is laughing. Big George would rip heads by now. But I guess the Yanks are just on…Another Level.
Zen. Baseball. For. The. Mother. Fuckin. Win.
I am too highly strung to practice Zen Baseball.
I just used beer.
i combined the two to marvelous effect
That.
This is the key. Zen.
Yankee players should only say in post-game interviews, when asked about a play or the future: “Be Here Now. Be Here Now.”
It would be a public service, besides summarizing their strategy.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA YANKEES WIN!
I don’t know how much longer I can do this. That was so damn nerve wracking it hurts. The highs are so high and the lows are so damn low, but winning makes it worth it in the end.
Underrated star of the game was Dustin Moseley. I was upset when he came in, but he was huge tonight.
I 2nd that. Solid.
The Backup Generator for the win. That was so clutch it wasn’t even funny.
Cano to Hamilton: take your MVP award and shove it up your ass! I must be the greatest!
(I’m assuming Hamilton’ll win)
Shades of the CC/Beckett CYA of 2007 . . .
“Shine that MVP real nice, turn it sideways, and stick it straight up, your candy ass!”
Gardner is the straw or in his case the coffee stick that stirred this drink tonight with that Gritty hit to start the rally!
If ya ain’t got Grit, you ain’t got s….
Bring on the batshit insane ledgejumper comment review/smackdown, please.
Oh it’s coming. There is uh, a lot of material.
I am not Hispanic. Would it be acceptable for me to name my firstborn son ‘Mariano’?
You’re naming your kid after God, it has to be acceptable.
Wow. Racist.
Mariano Jesus Shallow
What does being Hispanic have to do with naming?
The name doesn’t flow as well with my last name.
Gotcha. Whatever you do don’t change his last name to Rivera. He would have too big of shoes to fill.
you know what helps with devastation?
toot
That first thread was terrible… how many cliff jumpers do we have hanging around here?
Indeed but it was so hard to watch CC..glad I got off the ledge. All of you who were saying how they can score enough runs in one inning were right. My hat is off to you and your faith. Much respect.
I can’t believe how badly CC was squeezed. He had chance having to pitch down the middle.
I’d LOVE to see the pitch graph for tonight’s game… hint hint.
There’s a few that still think we’re going to lose today.
Hopefully not many. They bitch and moan and then completely disappear once the Yankees win.
Honestly, the game was saved when Joe pulled CC. Couldn’t have been easy to do after 4, but Joba and Moseley did a hell of a job stopping the bleeding.
Yup.
Mmm. Gotta love a game like this
Is it me, or do spillover threads work 60% of the time…every time?
it’s science
Actually I would say that 75% of the time they’re 90% effective…
Actually they a 100% effectiveness in games where they’ve worked.
Instant Yankee Classic.
i love how tbs keeps asking “what just happened?”
the yankees happened
I laughed because this is awesome.
Those guys on TBS are the biggest fucking douchebags. Impartial, my ass.
Ron Ron just pronounced Cano as Kay-no
kano from mortal kombat, no? dude was ruthless
What a fabulous game. CC looked a bit rusty, but I’m not worried about him. I’m sure the big man will rebound. The important thing is we won this game. Without a doubt the most exciting game of the year. Hopefully St. Phil steps up again tomorrow and gives us a 2-0 lead!
A bit?
::poops pants::
CC will only look better as the series progresses.
It’s tough to look worse than he did tonight, so I’ll agree.
This victory was so nice I don’t even mind sitting through Dennis Eckersley talking.
I got home and the Yanks immediately started scoring. Obviously I am the run scoring aphrodisiac.
Tomorrow, 4 PM…be there.
I bet you’re a highly sought-after wingman, Carlosologist.
You are now a squatter.
This was the 51st come-from-behind-win for the season!
Funny how A-Rod got the assist with Teix to get the last out. Fuck you Texas.
I think Marcus Thames is getting the short end of the “former Ranger revenge” party stick…can’t forget Marcus!!
Now, do you think CC will be ok for game 4? Or stick with the Burnett idea?
Let’s wait until we get there. If we’re 3-0, let AJ start. Otherwise, we’ll see.
The only way CC would start game four is if we’re down 0-3. That’s now impossible, so CC will not start until game five.
Cocaine Cowboy Ron Ron won’t back down in not using Feliz.
I do recall in the first game thread SOMEONE said they where gonna sell a kidney or their left testy if the Yanks won this game….
Twas Ross in NJ.
You got that in your commenter recap too right Ross?
I think ross in NJ also doubted Jesus M Catching. Coincidence? I think not.
lol nah, I don’t doubt him as a catcher. Just think he might be more valuable to the Yanks as a trade chip if he can’t catch. But.. that’s for another time, another place…
Um….
*looks around*
*runs away*
If you don’t do it you’ll curse the team.
I donated some money to a breast cancer foundation, I think that’ll do.
St. Judes works too! What a great game!
i just won $1300 because i bet that dustin moseley would get the win in this game!!!
That’s incredible. Congrats dude.
Gutsy.
Awesome.
Gritty…
Yikes! When did you make the bet?
I call Bullshit.
Really? How much did you have to bet and when did you place the bet? Before it started, or after the Yanks were down 5-0?
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!
/Ric Flair
To be the Man, you got to beat the man, and the Rangers Failed at that opportunity///
just a stunning, stunning win.
I’ll be up to 2 until my stomach calms down. Tums anyone?
My head is pounding. Luckily I’m in the pacific time zone. I’ll have some time to unwind.
You think your stomach is messed up, I don’t think Kinsler is going to be able to eat for 9 days.
No doubt.
Now all we need is for Kinsler to make three errors in one game, including on a key play that let’s the winning run in during the deciding game.
Brooks Conrad needs company.
Unbelievable victory. Hopefully its a back breaker.
There’s no way the Yanks lose tomorrow. Hughes will mow down those righties.
Best game of the season, right?
Best game of the season, right?
no contest.
GET MOSELEY OFF THE ROSTER! WE WANT NOVA!
…wait, what?
Can he start game 4?
you jest, but this will be a storyline tomorrow, i bet.
Cue the Mike Tyson quote:
“I’m the best ever. I’m Sonny Liston. I’m Jack Dempsey. There’s never been anyone like me. I’m from their cloth. There is no one who can match me. My style is impetuous, my defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want his heart! I want to eat his children! Praise be to Allah!”
“It’s nothing personal, but I’m going to kill this guy.”
I believe the Yankees just literally ate the Rangers’ children.
ESPN is freaking out and slamming ron washington.
Oh ESPN, seek therapy for your Yankee envy.
What does ESPN care? Boston isn’t even in the playoffs.
Ha ha
Yet. Not in the playoffs yet.
How can they do that? Rangers just have a sub-par bullpen, no matter how you manage it, against the Yanks offense. Give the Yanks the credit when they deserve it especially in games like this.
CC Sabathia: 4 ip 6 h 5 r 4 BB 3 K
Dustin Moseley: 2 IP 0 H 0 R 0 BB 4 K
YCPB?
Wow. Just wow. Everything that could go right in the 8th inning for the Yankees, went right. What a great comeback.
Just the game my ulcer needed.
Go Yankees.
That has to be one of the greatest single game comebacks I’ve ever seen in postseason.
I wanna thank God, Jesus, Buddha, the Dalia Lama, Allah, Jehovah, and the Steinbrenners.
forgot Mo.
Nope. God was mentioned.
He must be mentioned by name.
Mo Says you’re welcome, from GMS, too
this site needs some kind of filter that you can turn on that hides all the negative comments….(i know that’s impossible and then who would we goad after they come back to win)
That would be >85% of the posts in the game threads.
I’d welcome that.
OMG, this Yankees win got me feeling GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRReat!!!
/Tony The Tiger’d
“The New York Yankees are already making it look like the 1990s all over again for Texas.”
That’s better.
-from espn’s recap
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/.....=301015113
Amazing win. Good job those of you who keep a good outlook the entire night.
Without further delay…
In tonight’s version of “Things the Cliff Jumpers said in the 4th inning” we have to dedicate an entire section to the complete idiocy that was Captain Jack. He said he doesn’t mind being wrong, so here you go buddy:
So any of the optimists in here still think the Yankees have a chance here? Pretty sure Choking [naughty word edited out] pissed this game away.
Still think this team has a chance?
Yeah, this isn’t 2009. Jeter, A-Rod, and Posada are no longer good…they also don’t have a guy like Matsui at DH anymore. Yeah, insurmountable…they aren’t doing shit in this series. I guess YES can just run the 2009 postseason highlights…that’s the only way this team is seeing the series.
Honorable mention to Tachycardia, who posted these words of wisdom:
If that run scores from 3rd this game might be over.
Ballgame. Way to go CC, our supposed true ace. The whole series rests on Phil tomorrow.
This one from V as well, though I guess he’s right if the Yankees sweep:
And that’s the ballgame. Let CC go 140 pitches, see if he’s better in game 5 (if we get there)
Here’s one from RS…
And now Arod boots an easy one – they look like old, disinterested millionaires who are playing out the string
Because I love A-rod, I have to repost this from beer boy…
excellent, choke-rod is back.
There were also a few inexcusable posts that involved wishing death on certain people, personally insulting female posters here, and wishing a plane would crash into the stadium. Those of you who posted that garbage should feel ashamed of yourselves despite the outcome of the game. Grow up, or go root for someone else.
To everyone else, good job, and remember.. WE ARE THE NEW YORK FUCKING YANKEES, AND WE ARE NEVER OUT OF THE GAME!
A++++ sir.
Thanks for this. You would think at a certain point people would stop overreacting to this degree…you would also be wrong.
Okay, can we trade these guys to the Red Sox, since their fans are like this reguarly, always giving up, even today after they’ve had some recent success. We’ll trade them all for a “Fan to be Named.”
I like this idea.
Excellent work, Ross in Jersey. You have done us all a great public service. Accountability for the morons, huzzah!
Awesome, Ross. Love these posts. *salutes again*
MLB.com headline: “NY stuns Texas: You could’ve heard a ‘pen drop”
I usually hate MLB.com headlines, but I thought that one was really clever.
looking forward to the post and news’ headlines tomorrow but that’s a tough one to beat!
The only thing better that a late rally is knowing that all the trolls in the early game threads were WRONG. AGAIN.
BTW, I’m a firm beliver in the spillover thread = rally cause.
I got told to ‘Get off it’ for being optimistic, so I’m really happy about this win.
Big wins like this are the rewards of being faithful, IMO.
They are, but the lack of faith was disturbing and irritating. Good to know that I’m rewarded for sticking to my guns and never giving up.
/Vader’d
They won this one for you, Kit!
YAY!! It’s ’cause I’m awesome and they love me and my positivity.
=)
I can only imagine what my dad was like at home during the first 7 innings. I got home right after they took the lead so he was in a good mood by then.
I’m not going to lie, I was kind of feeling like crap and walking around my house like my dog just died, and watching my mom take way too much pleasure out of knowing the Yankees were losing, but I knew they could come back and they weren’t out of it.
yeah, it feels good…need to bring back the positive posse.
I seriously still don’t understand how there are actually people out there who get thier jollys off of waiting for a team to to badly so they can get on a message board and start shit when they know they are wrong.
It really makes no sense, and then when you try to correct them, they flip the fuck out about you being positive all the time. It’s better that I expect my team to do well than expect them to suck at every possible chance. They’re my team. I root for them to win, not fail miserably. That’s some Mets fan shit. Constantly negative about everything.
Thank you Miss Kit.
ZOMG THE PESSIMISTS R RIGHT
I was with you on the optimistic side, although no one told me to get off it.
Haha, Alex’s answers to these post-game questions can basically be summed up in one sentence: “These questions suck.”
Verducci just asked Lincecum in TBS how starting the 2009 All Star game helped prepare him for his first postseason start.
…wut.
I believe that. As wacky as that question is, I believe a reporter would ask that.
wut indeed..obviously they didn’t really watch that game, just read somewhere that he started…was that 09 or this year? I don’t remember.
What is he doing on television
I thought he would have gotten started on the Dodger Years already
Ha, I saw Lincecum speaking and I heard him talking about the All-Star Game, so I quikly turned the channel figuring TBS had moved on to something else that had nothing to do with tonight’s Yankee game.
Those questions were awful.
Thinking about Gardner in the 8th. I think that’s the only time I’ve seen a slide into first actually work. It’s appropriate that he’s the player who can pull that off. Way to run/slide it out Brett. I like seeing that kind of effort.
I think the fact that the defense wasn’t on the base yet played a huge part. He made the play significantly harder for Wilson who had to somehow step on the bag with Gardner about to slide through it.
“Alex Rodriguez scooted home soon after his two-run single that nearly was a double-play grounder…..”
courtesy of espn.
Keyword there is “almost”, ESPN. NOW EAT IT.
eaten.
Heard that too on Sportscenter. The guy just didn’t want to give any credit to A-Rod for hitting that ball really hard.
No way. Does it really say that?
http://espn.go.com/new-york/ml.....=301015113
What? Was that my friend Joe Morgan?
ESPN knows Kevin Youkilis would’ve stopped that smash with his face if he had to…and he would’ve had to.
You win, good sir.
…and outside of the improvement, no one would’ve noticed the difference.
I can only think of a few third basemen who could catch that. One being Adrian Beltre, who I believe did make a catch on a similar smash earlier this year against the Yankees. There aren’t many others.
Young could have actually fielded it.
Just that, you know, he’s not that good a fielder.
This is really fucking annoying. I guarantee you they wouldn’t have said the same thing if Cano, Jeter anyone else had hit that double. As a side note, I didn’t think that was a cheap hit at all. He smoked that.
And the four-inch grass couldn’t stop it.
Conceivably, with the base-out situation at the time, that ball was hit hard enough to be “nearly a triple play grounder”.
Rangers nearly won Game 1.
I hope they nearly win the Series. (Well, not so nearly, not really.)
ESPN is an impartial and unbiased source of information dealing with the Yanks and Red Sox.
Nearly.
Fucking awesomeness.
I’m still in shock. In a good way.
I feel the same way. Haven’t been able to calm down.
Hughesus Christo tomorrow coming of 7 innings of shutout ball against Colby Lewis
feelin’ real good guys
I feel good too. It’d be nice to win that one tomorrow so we only have to split the Lee and AJ games and still be in great shape.
you play to win every game, not to split. go home, little bill
You play to win every game? And here I thought we’d just forfeit one of the games. Clearly we haven’t gotten rid of all the ranger trolls.
/Herm Edwards’d
more like stan DARSH! oooOOOOH
My post calling out the cliff jumpers is too long and is sitting there awaiting moderation. Sad face.
Washington really has to know matchups better. A-rod has a reverse split, why would you bring in O’day to face him? And mixing guys so much? You have Feliz, should have used him after Oliver walked two in a row.
Can’t say enough about the job Joba and Moseley did to keep the game close. Just keep them within shouting distance.
Robbie Cano… dontchaknober!
I’m delaying coitus for this list. Come on, RABbis.
Pretty sure they’re in a bar partying hard, as they should be!
The Yankees seem to get in the way of your sex life a lot.
He couldn’t finish the other night because in his mind, Girardi had Swisher bunt.
Total bonerkill.
But teh closers are for teh ninth!1!1!
Ahem, agreed. It’s the eighth inning. If you’re going to save your closer, that bases loaded jam is as good a spot you’ll ever be in to use your best reliever, especially since Texas doesn’t have a David Robertson to bail out them out.
You can’t get a save if you cough up the lead. Complete mismanagement by Washington.
I am pretty pumped its an early game 2, cant wait…
So, as I said in the threads, I had a bunch of Phillies fans cheering for every little thing that went the Rangers’ way. Considering I was at work, about all I could do was shoot dirty looks at people.
Right before I left work, another guy I don’t know comes in my pod and starts talking to my supervisor. He sees the Yankees losing and is happy. I just finished my last call, and I had had enough.
Me: “And just who do you root for?”
Guy: “Anyone playing the Yankees and Phillies.”
Me: “OK, so, the Mets, right?”
Guy: “Yes.”
Me: “What’s it like rooting for a team that can’t get out of its own way?”
My supervisor, who likes the Red Sox and Phillies, then calls me “an obnoxious Yankees fan.” OMG, did I want to hurt somebody there. I’m not an obnoxious Yankee fan. At least I don’t think I am. I don’t gloat in public until the World Series is won. It’s a good thing I was going home, as I would have told someone to fuck off very loudly.
So, yea, I feel really good right now.
Bitter, much? Baseball fans of all teams are annoying, I choose to ignore them, good job taking the high road, Pat D.
And by “all teams” I meant “other teams” and I shouldn’t say I ignore them because I snap at people here all the time, but still, good job taking the high road.
Yea, I work in a call center and I was trying to have short calls tonight (didn’t work out so well) since I had a goal I wanted to reach tonight, and as soon as the game came on, things went to pot quickly.
But, yea, I just couldn’t take it. There’s another guy on my team who is a Yankees fan, he remained cool the whole game, he just said, “We got this.” I should have listened to him more.
But the problem is that all of these Phillies fans on our team just refused to admit that they’re afraid to play the Yankees. If they just admitted that, I’d move on.
So where do you based, if you don’t mind me asking, where there are so many Philly fans around? Southern NJ?
Allentown, PA. My call center is within walking distance of the Phillies’ AAA team stadium.
Fan of the Red Sox and the Phillies? He might as well start rooting for the Angels and complete that hellish trio. Yuck!
I knew he was a Red Sox fan, and he’s someone you can actually have intelligent conversations with about baseball (for the most part), but I know I heard him say tonight that he liked the Phillies, too. That was news to me.
I watched the game at my K of C with 5 * fans. Who had more fun than me?
* redundancy alert
Let’s try that again:
I watched the game at my K of C with 5 annoying Met fans*. Who had more fun than me?

Is that Sports Guy Bill Simmons?
Either way, that pic is now my desktop.
Btw, I love Marcus Thames. If they don’t bring him back next year, it’s a crime.
So much this.
Aww…Moseley is so cute with his Yankee love. Congrats on your first post-season win, Mose. You deserved it for a job well done.
http://www.fangraphs.com/livew.....eason=2010
Wheeee!
That is beautiful.
Pretty boring for a while, actually.
I’m not sure that the little piggy would be going wheee all the way home.
I haven’t enjoyed a game like that in a long time. Big time job by the bullpen and the offense in the 8th.
Did anyone else laugh at Kim Jones’ moans in her interview with Moseley?
Kim – “What’s a win like this like”
Moseley – “Incredible. It’s my wife’s b’day”
*Kim moans*
Moseley – “So it’s a great present for her”
*Kim moans*
Moseley – “I haven’t seen my son in a month”
*Kim moans*
for some reason i’m loling hard at that
But…But…But…Homefield advantage!! And teh antlers!!1!

Haha…I’m totally saving this.
I think I speak for many of us here when I say: new Facebook profile picture!
shock and awe.
The bar I went to literally exploded. That was, in short, exhilarating. I just… I have no words.
Was anyone injured?
/lamejoketooeasy’d
My boss texted me before the 8th to tell me how it didn’t look good for us and then 30 minutes later, we had the win. I love this freakin team.
I just watched the MLB.com highlight of the 5-run inning. So good, just so good.
Still in disbelief. The shit show in the second half made me doubt such things happening this postseason. And I certainly didn’t think the clutchness of the 2009 playoffs could be topped. I love being wrong.
my only complaint is the swisher bunt. 1 pitch foul call it off…
wasted wasted a at bat. cervelli up you bunt, swisher no way. jeter was on 2nd already.
what a friggin win, huge….stole that game…the 2 walks in the 8th killed texas….
