Brackman out until next week with groin injury

This morning Marc Carig of the Star Ledger reports that Andrew Brackman will miss this weekend’s action with what Carig termed “tightness and discomfort in his groin.” It doesn’t sound serious, and Brackman himself said that, “It’s not going to hurt me.” But it will prevent him from appearing in the first few live spring training games. He should be back on Tuesday.

    Damn it

  2. Dale Mohorcic says:

He has plenty of time to heal according to Wally Matthews, who has determined that Colon is going to be the number 4 starter and Garcia is going to be the number 5 starter. How has he determined this, you ask? Well, he doesn’t “know it”. He Infers it because Colon is starting the first grapefruit league game and Garcia is starting the second grapefruit league game.

Yep, he has that job being ESPN’s Yankees guy.

Regardless, I hope this is just a temporary setback. I get the sense that Brackman is the guy Cash is most likely to have start out of the minor league guys (hey, I just inferred that. I can write for ESPN!), so please heal up fast, Andy. Want to see what you can do.

  3. RL says:

With all the good things we hear about Brackman, let’s hope the initial prognosis is accurate. Hell, let’s hope this is the ONLY injury news we hear out of ST!

It sucks, but at least he is missing it now rather than later. Hopefully he can start throwing again next Tuesday and be in a live game sometime later next week.

  4. JGS says:

This doesn’t sound particularly serious, and this early in Spring Training they shut people down over a paper cut.

    Get well soon, Andrew

    LoHud says it’s a hamstring… ?

  6. Gerald Williams says:

    Brackmonster for 5th starter!

    Start of season rotation:

    CC, Hughes, AJ, Garcia/Nova/Colon, Brackmonster!

    Trade Deadline:

CC, Carpenter, Hughes, AJ, best of the rest!

This tweet from Gammons 2 hours ago was weird before I read this post. Now it’s even weirder.

Great news:Yankees say that if season opened soon, staff would want Andrew Brackman on the club

  8. Pounder says:

Groin injuries are unpredictable, some take a month or more to completely heal.A pitcher especially has to ensure it is completely healed.
